I've read some less than stellar reviews of RH Lindsay Co., most of them several years old, so maybe they've improved their service. I decided to take a chance and see how things go. I ordered 2 lbs of Falklands/Corriedale roving (just $12.50/lb), a lb of romney roving (OMG just $7.50) and a lb of mohair which is on back order so I can't comment. What I got was 2.2 lbs of Falklands and 1.4 lbs of romney and they're really lovely. Not a nep in sight and I can still smell the original owner on them, which is something we spinners love. I ordered it on a Friday and it probably was shipped late the following week. It arrived packed in a Corona Beer box, which I applaud if it keeps prices down and trees standing.
So how they do business differently is, there is no shipping notice, no way of tracking, and I didn't get a receipt with my order (and no charge on my card), they apparently don't charge it until the order is complete (as someone elsewhere on the 'net has suggested). They used to be hard to get in touch with - I can't speak to that, as I haven't needed to talk to anyone. I did notice they have some items showing ""out of stock until September 15"" and so on, which is helpful and a relatively new feature. I think they want to do a good job.
But for lovely product at wholesale prices, take a chance and be patient.
Pros: Seem to have excellent wool fiber on offer
Cons: Understand that they do business a little differently.
