if it were possible to give less than one star, i would. this has been the worst rental experience of my life and i've lived in some dumps before. R&E are a bunch of crooks who don't care about their tenants OR their owners. if i owned this building, sure... i'd do things cheaply but i'd still make sure the people who lived here were safe. no such luck here! R&E continually neglects tenant service requests and has a complete lack of regard for their wellbeing. if you need a new place to live and it's down to a choice between an R&E property and a cardboard box on skid row, do yourself a favor and choose the box. at least if it breaks, you can get a new one without so much hassle! Pros: it's a spacious unit Cons: the manangement staff (with the exception of Ana and Otto, resident managers) are awful and unresponsive more

STAY AWAY FROM RENTING WITH THIS COMPANY! 11/13/2008

This company scams tenants! My neighbor who has been living in a building for 40 years, owned by this company, has been harassed and threatened. Her electricity, water and gas have all been tapped and connected on by the whole building causing her bills to be 3-4 times higher than usual. Safety regulations for this building have been neglected until the company was approached by a community group to fix the building. My neighbor has been threatened to move out so the company can raise the rent on her unit to match the rest of the building. These are tiny 2 bedroom units that are not worth the $2000 that is being asked for rent. R & E has no comment. Stay away from working with this company! more

After leasing with R AND E, I would not consider renting from anyone else. There management team as fast to fix my appliances. The building was kept spotless. There office staff was always helpful, especially Rosy. I would reccomend to all Pros: Office staff, especially Rosy more

if you have a problem, they won't fix it. they'll even avoid your calls. they use cheap illegal labor to fix your apartment, so nothing works even when it's been ""fixed"". Cons: closed on saturdays, don't return calls more

Stay away from this company. I rented form them for a year during which I had nothing but problems with tenants, parking, pests and vermin, left the apartment in perfect condition, and they still took my entire deposit ($1600) with a bunch of fake receipts, problems that were there when I moved in, etc, and had the gall to send me a BILL for $60.\r \r I sued them and they finally settled with me in the hallway of the courthouse after nearly three months of BS, accusing me of causing the problems. etc. Seriously, STAY AWAY! If you have to rent from these slimeballs be sure to get everything in writing, because they will deny anything else and screw you for every dime they can get. Cons: Horrible office staff! Rude, lying, scumbags! more

If you ever move into a building managed by R&E Investments, be sure to get everything in writing because this company's main goal is to do as little as possible for their tenants. They are unresponsive to maintenance issues. They are disrespectful to tenants. And when you move out because you can't stand it anymore, good luck getting your deposit back. They're slumlords. BEWARE! Document everything when you correspond with them, for proof that you've tried repeatedly to get something done. Cons: Unresponsive and rude staff, horrible customer care more

WORST MANAGEMENT COMPANY, BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!! 4/9/2007

I recently left an R&E property after two miserable years. My apartment was water damaged, the pests are huge and abundant and the manager was a witch with a capital B. R&E cares about nothing but the rent which is regularly raised to its maximum. When service requests are put in they go ignored and when you try to follow up on anything the woman in the office is surly and rude. I lived in an apartment complex in Hollywood, the building had 24 tiny apartments but only 11 parking spaces. I was told that I'd be placed on the waiting list for my own space. After the first year I counted the number of tenants who'd moved out, 17, and wondered why my requests for a space had gone unheeded since I'd been there the longest without a spot and had seniority. The answer as usual was the run around. The same went for repairs. The person in charge of what ever I called in for was off that day. Now that I've moved out I'm still having problems with them: my deposit was finally returned after 90 days (the law says three week maximum) and I'm being charged for rediculous repairs. I'm being charged for having dirty screens! They have no grace period for late rent, 1 day late is $25 3 days is $50 and they curiously sent me tenant violations and eviction warnings for b.s. reasons every time I complained about a problem. They are shysters, do business some where else! Cons: They'll do everything they can to screw you more

Avoid this management company!!! 12/3/2006

This company manages the apartment building I live in. There are roughly 10 apartments in the building and there are 10 tenants who are miserable. Since they took over the management of our building, not a single repair has been done. When they first took over they did an inspection of the property- saying that they needed to see what repairs were needed. After the inspection they posted notices that we had to be home all day on a weekday for these repairs-- everyone in the building. No one ever came that day. A few days later they came by with notices again. Again - all day on a weekday we were home. Again no one showed to do repairs.\r \r There are now 4 complaints on file with the Los Angeles Housing Department for our small building alone.\r \r These guys know how to play the game of rental management in Los Angeles. The first week they took over they tried to illegally raise the rent of everyone in the building. We fought it and won, but there is no penalty for them. Since then they have given eviction notices to four people in the building and succeeded with one apartment- mainly because the tenants were sick of the R&E nonsense and left.\r Steer clear! Pros: Absolutely none. Cons: Completely unresponsive to basic apartment repair requests. Very rude staff. Just bad people. more
