My fiance purchased a used car from R&D about 4 years ago; a rockin retro '92 Volvo that wheezed when it sped down the highway, honked if you turned a corner too sharp, could never fathom a speedy acceleration, and the a/c didn't work. But the car was a tank. The dealership offered to repair known issues with a comparable increase in purchase price or purchase as-is with a decrease in listed price. The sales staff were friendly and upfront with known mechanical issues on the vehicle. Although the vehicle was obviously used and had seen better days, it ran very well and maintenance costs were minimal for the age of the vehicle. more

I have had my dream car almost 2 years, a beautiful BMW. I have had the regular things to do, brakes, thermostat, gasket, etc. I panic when things happen and Rob and Rosie are always there to calm me down and help me work it out. Either through their shop or a wonderful BMW mechanic they referred me too. It has been amazing driving this car and even getting the work done on it. I OWE Rob BIG time!! He will put me in a loaner, something he does not have to do. He has gone way beyond anyone has ever done before. He says, ""You love the car don't you?"" And he makes it work. Unbelievable! As a drug counselor and also a priest, this guy is full of Grace! He really is as well as Rosie! This has just been a really crazy/cool car experience! more

Recently j bought a car from r & d motors a 03 murano!!!! When I bought it they told me that the car did not come with a warranty but if anything went wrong just come by the shop and they would help me out!!!! And 5 months later it happened. The transmission was failing. So I took it to a mechanic they were trying to charge me $4,000. I called r & d motors and they told me they could get it for a lot less! They towed the car for free and got the whole thing done for $1,000! My point is they are awesome they worked with me and helped me out as much as possible. So stop by I recommend them hands down over any place else! They have a great selection of cars!!!! And great customer service!!!!!!! more

I have known Rob and his staff for about 7 years now. I have purchased several vehicles, both for worrk and personal use. I have never had an isssue that was not resolved in a prompt and curtious manner. The staff that work for Rob have all been there for some time, and have all become friends, as well as business aquaintances. I purchased a 1999 Cadillac STS with over 100,000 miles from R & D Motors 3 years ago and it has not given me any trouble that was not part of the regular maintenance. This car has been the best used car I have ever purchased. When I paid it off, I feared major problems in the works, but nothing so far. I can call Oscar anytime and he will respond immediately. I recently purchased a car from R & D Motors. I was nervous in purchasing a car and having a payment again. I had no idea what I even wanted in a car. R& D Motors was so patient with me and even helped find the car that was perfect for me. About a month after purchasing my 2005 Jetta the check engine light came on, I was bummed to say the least because I knew I bought this car as-is. I still called out to R & D and told them about my situation they had me bring it in and with in 15 minutes it was fixed, the only issue was a clamp on a hose was loose. Now if I would have taken it to a different mechanic who knows what they would have told me was wrong or charged me. But instead R& D took care of the problem free of charge when they had no obligation to do that. I definitely would like to thank the R &D family for all they have done and will continue to refer all my family and friends to them for any of their car buying needs! My wife and I declared bankruptcy about six months ago. As part of the bankruptcy we were required to turn in our minivan. Since we live about 20 miles outside of Austin, we both needed a vehicle. After turning in our vehicle we began the search for a replacement vehicle (used). It was no surprise that we couldn?t get financing from a credit union, bank, or even a dealer. Then we stumbled across a Subaru Outback at R & D Motors. Actually, we found it online but it does sound more dramatic saying stumbled vs. found online, doesn?t it? I called and spoke to Jeremy who was real easy to talk to. Since I didn?t want to waste his time, I explained our situation to him. He told me that R & D Motors did its own financing, and that they didn?t just sell the loan to another company once the sale was complete. While he couldn?t guarantee anything, he did say they have financed cars for people in our situation. Before they could offer any financing he did want to meet with me. It was the way they did things. Of course, I realized part of the reason why he wanted to meet me was to help make a sale happen. At a glance, R & D Motors is one of those car dealers your mother warned you about. You know the type ? on the corner, 15 or 20 cars on their lots with a little shack on the back portion of the lot. The image immortalized in numerous movies for these small dealerships is often a slick lying car salesman. My guard was up, and I expected sleazy sales behavior to show up at some point, but it never happened. Everyone was straight-forward with no game playing. It?s a small team of about six people that work at R & D motors. The price of the car was a couple hundred dollars under market price, 7 year old car, terrific condition, with just over 95,000 miles. R & D allowed me to take the car to my mechanic for inspection, and we even negotiated a couple of minor repairs based on my mechanics inspection report (good car with no major issues was his verdict). We needed the car ASAP and they agreed to do the negotiated minor repairs afterwards. I was a bit nervous about this arrangement, but I wasn?t going to stress over it. Guess what? They did the repairs after the sale as promised. Great attitude and follow up. They have won us over. By their actions they proved to both my wife and myself that they really do care for their customers! There has been only one negative in getting a car from R & D Motors. It?s the 18% interest we are paying on our car loan. Is the interest rate on our loan from R & D Motors high? Absolutely. While I wish it was lower, I?m also a realist. We were fresh out of a bankruptcy with besmirched credit records. We didn?t have the money to pay cash, and standard car financing was closed to us. Our only other financing option was DriveTime. Do a Google search for them and you?ll understand why I really wanted to avoid DriveTime. Our financial situation is already turning around and we are anticipating paying off our R & D auto loan early. In summary, my wife and I really needed a vehicle and R & D Motors came through for us. I?m happy to have done this review. I?m not much of a writer. It took me an hour to compose, and edit this review to make it semi-legible. If this review brings them a customer or two, good for them. I recently bought a car from R&D motors. They seemed to show that they were very co-operative before selling the car, but after buying the car the response has been pathetic. They haven't given me the second car key, and didn't bother to fix a broken windshield. They didn't even do a state inspection which was already due for the car before handing it over to me. I found more problems with the car after buying and still struggling to fix them. They will just call you and try to show that they can help if you are not satisfied. But don't expect much help from them. Strongly don't recommend going to R&D motors for your used car needs. more

We became acquainted with the owner of R&D Motors by chance a couple of years ago. I would normally be afraid to buy a used car, but we hate to pay new car prices and Rob is a very nice guy who really loves and knows a lot about automobiles and trucks. The guys at R&D Motors were knowledgeable and very helpful when we decided to buy a pre-owned vehicle. Our salesman (Jeremy) was never pushy or rude, he let us take the vehicle for a day to get checked out. The report on the car came out pretty good, minor issues with the vehicle were fixed by R&D Motors at no extra charge. We enjoyed doing business at R&D Motors and will tell people about our experience there. more

I Recently bought an 02 Honda Civic from Rob Dunbar (owner of R & D Motors), under an as is contract. The civic that I had purchased had a overheating problem that Rob was quick to attempt to fix through his groovy mechanics. The problem persisted and it turned out to be a blown head gasket, Knowing that I paid good money for a vehicle that I was under the assumption was mechanically sound, he made a clean trade. He gave me another 02 civic with half the miles for the same price, I couldn't believe it. Rob truly made a compassionate gesture by having me in a vehicle immediately after having issues, even though he technically didn't have to do anything under the as is clause, he proved to be a man of his word by treating me as family! The earlier negative review is unfortunately true - they were very sleazy about hiding mechanical flaws in the vehicle they sold me as well (LARGE mechanical flaws - this is highly unethical). In addition, the dealers gave me conflicting info about the car, backpedaling when I noticed issues with it, etc - ie: ""Uh, that's just the way these cars sound"". Seriously, what self-respecting dealer says that? My car was claimed to be in ""excellent"" condition, and we found: Cons: Dishonesty, hiding mechanical flaws more

This review is in response to negative feedback posted April 11, 2007 on a 97 Jeep Cherokee. It should be obvious that we are willing to care for our client as we were willing to service the car 3 separate times - even though they signed an as-is agreement when the vehicle was purchased. The final time the vehicle was brought in, they failed to mention that it was repaired correctly and R&D Motors paid for the repairs. more
