R Bar

This is a nice bar conveniently located on memorial between Westcott and Sheperd. The crowd is welcoming and the staff are cordial. I would definitly recommend this place on Monday nights if you are looking for some trivia, darts, and simply good bar games to drink up while traffic dies down after work. more

This little sports bar is a great place to stop when you are driving home on memorial from downtown. They have a nice selection of brews on tap and many more in the cooler. The girl behind the bar was extremely nice and I did not have to wait 10 min to get a beer. They recently added a number of flat screens, so I now have a home for my Mon. and Thurs.night football fix. more

R Bar is a bar that aims to please. With the goal of being YOUR neighborhood bar, the owners created an environment that has all of the toys and games...Golden T, video machines, darts, trivia nights and internet juke box. The sign still says Velvet Lounge so if you go by in the next couple of weeks, don't be alarmed. The gang from Roeder's Pub took hold of the Velvet Lounge location, in early May 2010, and is transforming it into R Bar. A neighborhood sports bar. The R Bar signage is still being constructed and more TV's are coming soon but already this, previously sleepy little bar, is quickly becoming a hot spot for the locals. Its close proximity to Memorial Park and to fields along Allan Parkway make R Bar perfect for a drink after a run, bike ride or softball game. And, since it's the only bar on Memorial between downtown and the loop, it's a great place to stop for Happy Hour. Not to mention R Bar is a nice break from the madness on Washington Ave. Hours are 3pm-2am Monday - Friday Noon - 2am on Sat & Sun. more

I stumbled upon this bar lafter eaving Los Cucos . It is tucked away so at first I did not even notice it. There were maybe 10 people at the bar and one lone bartender. I sat at the end of the bar and was immediatly greeted by the bartender and also a few people at the bar. The bartender introduced herself as Cookie although she said it was not her real name.. I believe it was victoria. I could not think of what to drink so she showed me a large martini list and asked me what type of liqour I liked. We finally settled on the velvet kiss. I have to tell you Cookie knows her job because it was deliscoius. I watched her mingle with all her guest, all of which she knew by name. She hugged the new people who walked in and is very friendly. I liked this place because its quiet and kicked back.. amd Cookie makes a mean drink. Everyone seemed to know each other and that is rare from what i have seen. I did not feel like I was just another tip he got but a friend, if that makes sense. I highly suggest this bar to anyone, espcecially if you want to take a romantic date or have a well poured drink.. You have a drink when you want it and how you want it. She even had peoples drinks waiting on them before they walked in the door. I dont know if anyone else works there she is the only one I have seen. Check it out you will not be disappointed.
