A cozy friendly neighborhood book store 3/8/2006

They may not have every book on the planet in stock, but the friendly helpful staff will cheerfully order books for you and call you when they arrive, usually within just a couple of days. The book reviews are written personally by the well-read staff and the tables always display an interesting array of new books. I hear they have an amazing guy that reads to the children and you can't beat the location with an outdoor patio in back and tasty Diablo Coffee next door. more

Great Book Store 8/30/2005

The mark of a good bookstore, in my mind, is a place where the employees actually read books. I was blown away during the short time I spent browsing this store how many times the staff were able to recommend great books on a variety of topics. I read a lot and they were recommending the same books I would. Even if you are looking for a recommendation, go to this bookstore to support their great service. more

Queen Anne Avenue Books 8/23/2005

Queen Anne Avenue Books is a wonderful place to visit. The staff is very knowledgeable and there are lots of personal reviews printed on cards by the books on display. Cindy, who is one of the owners, must have a photographic memory, because after meeting her once, she knows my name and remembers my daughter, so when I see her in the neighborhood, she greets me by name. The book store is supportive of schools, and has become a regular destination for my family. It's wonderful to have an independent, local bookstore. more

So many books, not enough time! 8/21/2005

Queen Anne Avenue Books is one of my favorite bookstores.(I have a few.) Located on the top of Queen Anne hill nestled back from Queen Anne Avenue, it is warm and inviting, literary adventure awaiting those who pass though its' doors. Seriously, I don't know how they mange to pack such a wide and wonderful selection of books into such a small space and yet it doesn't feel cramped or crowded. The staff are all very knowledgable and helpful. If for some reason they don't have a book you're looking for and it's still in print, they will order it for you. it's also conveniently located near the El Diablo Coffee Co., so you can bring you literary purchase into the coffee shop and have your favorite coffee drink while you explore your new book. more

Great Local Bookshop 8/21/2005

Tucked in behind Diablo Coffee on upper Queen Anne, these guys are a great alternative to the megacorp booksellers you can find anywhere. I've never had an issue not being able to get a book I expected to be in stock, and in fact, these bookworks are every bit as good as Nancy Pearl for recommending other titles they think you'll be interested in. Particularly good current events section and a great neighborhood anchor. Good visiting author circuit, too. more

A friendly, knowledgeable bookstore 8/17/2005

I live in Queen Anne and am naturally biased. But this is my favorite small bookstore in the city. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They support local authors. They carry a good selection of children's books. They're always willing to order anything that currently isn't in stock. They have a great book club. And they offer a frequent buyer card, which makes their prices competitive with the big-box stores. They also happen to be next to a great cafe with cuban coffee and live music several nights a week, so you can turn a trip to the bookstore into a great, affordable night out. more
