We weren't in a hurry so we didn't mind the half hour bar wait. Decent beer selection, good wine list, free tater tots! We were finally seated at the uncomfortable bank along th...

Comfort food at Q 3/17/2006

Q is another place on my list of budget eats. While not as good as Home, they still have some delicious comfort food at great prices. I love their version of sangria, nice calamari, and I was very happy with my mac and cheese with tater tots. Interesting decor too, and a pleasant surroundings. Don't forget to take a look at the huge board of daily specials. more

But if you don't want asian just go some ewhere else because this place will make you sick more

Copasetic at Best 8/23/2005

Four of us went at 9 P.M. on a Wednesday. Waited half an hour for a table. The employees were fantastic, and so was the hamburger plus bacon and cheese. The BBQ sauce, as strange as this sounds, seemed dusty, though... and the pork tasted weird, the chicken-fried kobe beef steak tasted like a won ton, and the polenta was cold. The apple crisp was outstanding, but where was the scoop of vanilla ice cream? What's apple crisp without ice cream?! more

Hip Comfort Food 8/16/2005

There aren't many restaurants in San Francisco where you can order meatloaf and tater tots. Q in the Richmond neighborhood happens to be one of those places. With such a menu, however, you would expect Q to have a diner-esque, greasy spoon feel to it. However, this is one of the hippest establishments in the Richmond. They always have cool music playing with a young, bohemian wait staff serving you. For example, my friends and I still joke about one cooks t-shirt which said "Scrotum Pole" across the front. It's also cleverly decorated in kind of post-modern theme. If you have a large party, I'd recommend calling ahead and requesting the "Tree Table" in the back since it's not easy for them to accommodate large parties. When ordering, I'd recommend ordering the Calamari with Chili Lime Aioli for an appetizer and Andy's Spare Ribs for the main course. The meatloaf isn't either. more

My vote for best San Francisco neighborhood restaurant! 6/26/2005

Q was my favorite restaurant for the 4 1/2 years I lived in San Francisco. The atmosphere and decor are fun, they have a good selection of beer and wine and the food is delicious and a great value. At most similar restaurants, you will get a portion that is about half the size for twice as much. I have been to Q a couple dozen times and have taken nearly every friend and visitor I've had in the city! They specialize in American comfort food, like fried chicken, steak, and also have a variety of vegetarian dishes, such as risotto, macaroni and cheese and a veggie grill platter. The desserts are also phenomenal. My favorites are a grilled banana with whipped cream and nuts, an apple crumble and chocolate mousse. Honestly, you have to try this place! It's one of the things I miss most about the city. more
