Best

I went to Pure a couple of weeks ago and sat at the bar with a few friends because the dining room was full of people eating and seemingly having a great time. Our bartender, Sash...

Worst

1. Lunch on Friday is obviously very busy. Hostess called in sick and manager didn't have anyone fill in for her. Abslute nightmare getting seated as no one was working the sea...

Editorial review from Citysearch 2/21/2014

I absolutely love this place! Great food, ambience, unique dishes and hot rooftop deck! more

Will Be Back!! 11/14/2011

Went here for lunch a little while back. Though the building is quite small, this old gas station is a perfect little Mexican restaurant! The atmosphere was warm and casual, and the food tastes especially fresh and yummy! The only con is the very limited parking, but that is an easy workaround. I will definitely be back! more

it was the worst food poisoning i have had in years! 6/24/2011

i have never darkened their doors since i had the worst food poisoning of my life from this place. i was ill for about a week after rushing home after about an hour or so eating there- ate chicken tacos. will NEVER forget that moment. needless to say, ruined all the rugs in my bathroom among other things i had to discard. NEVER again. called the restaurant- and of course- deny, deny, deny. also- had to drive around for 20 min just to find a parking spot. NOT worth it. obviously. more

Great Time 5/5/2011

I went to Pure a couple of weeks ago and sat at the bar with a few friends because the dining room was full of people eating and seemingly having a great time. Our bartender, Sasha, was very pleasant and made several different types of margaritas, all of which were excellent. I'm not even a big margarita fan. Even though the bar was full, I never had to wave someone down for another drink. more

Decent Cal-Mex but nothing to write home about... 2/17/2011

Pure is more of a Cal-Mex than authentic Mexican, but still good if you're in the mood for chips, salsa and tacos. I had the fish tacos and they were pretty good. My husband and I went here on a weekday afternoon when it wasn't busy; I don't think I'd be willing to valet and wait for a table during happy hour or dinnertime. I would agree with some of the other reviews that the service isn't great-our waiter was nice but somewhat distracted. All in all, it's not a place I would crave, go out of my way to eat at or wait an extended period of time for a table. I'll keep searching for good authentic Mexican. more

Somewhere between Costco's premade mexican and lean cuisine 8/16/2010

Run away from this restaurant if you are not fooled by the trendiness and the cool bar. This food is bland and the restaurant and staff has an arrogance about it. more

no taste what so ever 6/4/2010

i can't believe people give this place more than 1 star. this place tried to be all modern and trendy but the food has always been terrible. it is bland. they try to make mexican different than the greasy delicious food that is is and it's totally flavorless. more

Fish Tacos are In the House! 3/24/2010

Not on the main Alpharetta drag, but not hard to find is Pure. A local recommended it to us and that was the start of a fantastic relationship with the Mexican eatery. If you go during high times, you will be walking because parking is at a premium, but it is worth it! Have the fish tacos ? just enough bite in the sauce. And if enjoying your meal outside work hours, order a margarita. Just one will do ya! Pros: Fun, Friendly, Margs! more

Great margaritas, great food! 10/24/2009

My girlfriend works here so I might be a little biased but Pure taqueria has very good food. I love mexican food and this is more upscale but still decent on the wallet. Pros: Best frozen margaritas in town by far, simple yet delicious Cons: expect a looong wait Fri / Sat night more

Hmmm... 9/14/2009

Let me start off by saying that I had been here previously during late afternoon hours and had a good experience. The food was pretty good, and the margaritas were too, as well as the service. I actually recommended it to friends. That visit was about a year and a half ago. Pros: Cool remodel of a gas station Cons: Attitudes more

whats with all the hype 9/13/2009

Well I gave this place a shot even after reading the reviews on city search. And the bad reviews were pretty accurate, food is not all that great, service is slack at best, prices were a little high for the quality I would expect from all the hype. I have found a better spot in the Roswell area, Rojo Taqueria. It has much better service and the drinks arre inexpensive and strooong to say the least. I would recommend anyone wanting great food and service and is in the area to stop by and enjoy yourself. Football on the weekends, trivia on thursday and just a good time everyday. Check out their website at rojotaqueriacom See you there Cons: everything you read is true more

The worst meal I've had all year. Seriously. 8/31/2009

My direct quote after eating here: ""I wish I could throw that up."" It was our first time eating here. Cute place, decent margaritas and the guac was good. I ordered their fish tacos AKA the worst fish tacos I have ever tasted. They were completely bland, not special at all and the fish was pretty awful. The meal was way over-priced for the quality of food we received. Try out Ceviche in Roswell instead for truly creative Mexican. Cons: Disgusting entree more

This Place is Way Overated 8/23/2009

Other than being in a convenient location, I was very disappointed with the quality of service I received during my first experience in this taqueria. I would compare this place with the unfriendly service that I receive when I have gone to Twisted Taco. The service was poor, the drink I had did not taste right, and my food came out cold. The atmosphere is not very friendly. I recommend the Taqueria on Holcombe Bridge Rd. called Rojo's. Their food, drinks, and friendly service is very consistant. Pros: Location Cons: Food and Drinks more

Best Mexican in atl 3/10/2009

This restaurant is unequivocally the best Mexican in Atlanta. The couple who own pure are both chefs and i've been going there for three years. It is the only restaurant I'll drive to Alpharetta to go to. The food is fresh, great quality and the flavors are original and fantastic! Oh, try the crab fritters, gorditas, fish tacos and sopes And the flan!! more

Worst food 1/14/2009

Went there with a group of people from work. Worst Mexican food on earth. The cheese dip was the only decent thing, but then again, how hard is it to screw up melted cheese. I will never go back there. If you want good Mexican food go to Tampico on Haines Bridge Road Pros: Non Cons: Everything more

Awful service..Spilled drink..no remorse - absolutely awful! 7/27/2008

Drive almost 40 miles to have lunch here with my son. Have been to Pure before and service was decent. Sunday afternoon was different. Young waitress mixed up our drinks - then proceeded to spill a can of coke completely into my son's lap - soaked his shorts and shirt (had an Iphone in his shorts pocket)..Half-hearted apology and gave him napkins to wipe up. Pros: Food was good the few times I had been there previously. Cons: AWFUL SERVICE - RUDE AND TOTALLY UNCARING STAFF AND MANAGEMENT more

Amazingly Fresh Food and Upbeat Atmosphere 7/18/2008

Sounds like Mr. Poopy Pants needs to grow up. I agree that the owner should have been more sympathetic and genuinely concerned (FYI Pure Owner: consulting upset customers is the way to keep their business) but he/she should have asked for a refund or requested just-compensation. People can get sick at any restaurant, so that does not justify trashing an awesomely consistent dinning experience. The corn tacos are always filled with fresh fish and the varieties of salsa gives reason to my Chips & Salsa obsession. This is one of my family favs and the colorful ambiance creates an upbeat experience. Parking can be annoying, but valley is available at dinner. Needless to say?a little walk will do you good after overindulging in excellence. YUM! Pros: Atmosphere, Service, Patron Margarita and Fish Tacos Cons: Wait and Parking more

Violently ill 5/9/2008

One phrase: Got violently ill after eating here. Yes, I ate at this establishment and within 1-2 hours I started to feel very awkward and uneasy. This was the only meal I ate (it was lunch time). I experienced severe diareah and throwing up the day of, and then 48 hours after, still experienced cramping, headache, and overall sickness. I contacted the manager of the restaurant and she immediately denied that this could have been her food, because ""she has been open for over 2 years"". I asked her at a minimum for a refund of the meal I paid for and she advised that she would have to look into it and call me back the next day. Still no phone call. Also, she'd had to confirm if ""anyone else"" called in and said they got sick. So, the message to me was that if nobody else called in to say they too got sick, then I was just sh** out of luck. Needless to say, I will NEVER eat there, nor recommend the place, and will be sure to let others know my horrible customer service experience and illness experience. I will also be filing a complaint with the Health Dept. Cons: food, service, parking, ambience more

Get the unique, trendy feel of being at a fabulous restaurant in Midtown but stay in Alpharetta 8/8/2007

We are lucky to have such a hip joint so far outside the Perimeter. Pure, named ""Pure"" because it used to be a gas station / garage, has been ingeniously converted to a trendy, little restaurant near old-town Alpharetta. Unless you get there before 5:00 on any weeknight, expect to wait before you're seated and expect to have to pay the valey guy or walk a long distance from a nearby parking lot. I went there on a Friday night and had to wait 2 hours for a table. The Texas margaritas are serious - I've never been able to drink more than two. The food menu is quite original. If you're willing to try different meats such as black forest ham or tongue, there are plenty of options for you. I usually get the sauteed fish to stay on the lighter side (it's listed on the daily specials, but it's consistently there), but the chicken and cheese quesadilla in corn-masa turnover is oh-so-good (it comes out looking like it's deep-fried). And if you really feel like splurging, order the queso fundido (melted chihuahua cheese & poblano peppers With chorizo) for an appetizer. And if there's any way to save room for dessert, do yourself a favor and order the pastel tres leches with sliced strawberries. It goes down like water. The food and drinks will not disappoint. Just don't get your hopes up for a quiet evening. The music is extremely loud - too loud for me and I'm in my early 20's. Expect a wait and to have to pay the valet guy unless you don't mind walking from the city lot. I've tried all of Chris and Michele Sedgwick's restaurants (Pure Taqueria, VG Bistro (formerly Van Gogh's), Vinny's on Windward, Aspens Signature Steaks, and Theo's Brother's Bakery), and they're all top-notch. Pros: atmosphere, food, drinks Cons: parking, noise, wait more

Best Contemporary Mexican 8/8/2007

This restaurant is excellent and absolute fun! Very casual, set in a ""converted garage"" atmosphere. The menu is small: great soft tacos, contemporary versions of tostados and taquitos. Check out the pork stuffed masa cakes....wonderful. The fresh guacamole is a treat as is the shrimp appatizer. The margaritas are wonderful, they have a variety of fruity choices and all the high end tequilla choices. Don't miss this! Service is good and attentive. Outdoor patio is a blast if you have a group or kids. Because of decor, it can get a little too loud inside when they have a big crowd. We asked them to turn down the music last visit and they were quick to respond. Don't miss this one! Pros: Food, fun decor, drinks, service, indoor / outdoor seating Cons: parking, sometimes a wait, loud when they have a big crowd more
