Great classes, but needs some work 9/26/2006

The classes at Pro-Robics are fantastic and the instructors are first-rate. The Body Step classes are easy to follow, and are very professionally taught (though I wish they would not repeat the same routine for weeks on end). The facilities at Pro-Robics are less inspiring. Even after they painted and remodeled, the workmanship appeared shoddy and I find the colors very unappealing. On the positive side, the cardio and weight machines are of pretty good quality and the atmosphere at the gym is easy-going. Easy “fixes” such as attention to cleaning, and more regular high-quality maintenance and painting would take this gym up a notch. more

Laurelhurst Probics Gym 8/21/2006

I have belonged to the Laurelhurst gym for many years and have always been happy with my experience until now. At least a month ago the air conditioning broke down and after several requests to fix it--NOTHING has been done. When I asked about getting the air conditioning fixed no one knew if and when it would be fixed. It appeared to me from what I was hearing that it was too costly to fix. In the meantime, the weight room is stuffy and totally unbearable on a warm day!! The cardio room upstairs is stuffy, smelly and hot and really not pleasant on even a slightly warm day!! There are two eliptical machines (somewhat new) by Life Fitness--they are so popular that many times it is impossible to use one. There are two Life Cycle recumbent bikes that are the newest ones and they are in constrant demand--despite requests to provide more of the eliptical and new bike machines--nothing has been done. Many of the outdated bikes, stairmasters, etc go unused. If I could find another gym that was close by I would leave Pro Robics. more

Laurelhurst Location is Much Better 6/6/2006

If you are really into step aerobics then Pro-Robics is the gym for you. Most of the people in the classes are over 50 for sure. But don't let that fool you into thinking it's easy. I've had to leave several classes because I couldn't keep up with the fancy footwork/lunge combinations. The gym also offers stairmasters and all that kind of stuff too. The Laurelhurst location is much bigger and brighter than the Queen Anne gym. The best thing about this gym is that it's really inexpensive. I think the monthly charge is $25 or less. more

Small, but good, gym 3/9/2006

I started working out at ProRobics (Laurelhurst) in January this year, and I have had nothing but positive experiences. They offer several types of group exercise classes (cycling, step, yoga, pilates, etc.), and the instructors I've had have been motivating and well-educated. The cardio area is somewhat small, but I have never been unable to get a machine. Parking is easy and readiliy available except between 5-7pm or so--there are a few restaurants nearby that also contribute to the parking in the evenings. My favorite thing about this gym is the diversity of membership--people of all ages and fitness levels go here, and I feel like it's a really accepting place. They also have childcare available at certain hours. more

Pro-Robics is a Casual, Family-Friendly Neighborhood Gym 1/18/2006

Pro-robics offers a no frills gym, well run classes and a nice day care area for kids. The Laurelhurst location has a real neighborhood feel which is nice if you're less into meeting new people at the gym and more into getting a good workout. more

Workout for Mind and Body 4/22/2005

If you're looking for fun fitness classes that challenge your mind as well as your body, check out Pro-Robics. Owned by national fitness professional, Kari Anderson, the club offers a variety of classes from aerobics to spinning to yoga. For a maximum challenge in choreography, check out one of Kari's classes. The clubs also offer a variety of universal weights, cardio machines, and free weights. To be honest, I skip these rooms and head right for the aerobic studio, though. You won't get any high-pressure sales tactics here, and membership is good at either club (Queen Anne location and Laurelhurst location). My one big criticism is that the clubs get way too hot in the summer. more
