Expensive and they try to upsell 1/3/2012

Came here to try it out but they were too pushy and I just want a place to go and work out without being hassled. Decided not to join, seems like some of the other Judy's Book reviewers had the same complaints. more

Pro's Pros and Cons 1/3/2007

I was an early convert to Pro Sports Club's Seattle location. Peaceful, spacious, rarely crowded. Good locker rooms with key-less lockers (you set the lock code). I loved the massage therapists there, esp. Jen---who is INCREDIBLE. You want a knot in your back gone? Go to her. Tip her well. She's worth what you're paying for. Despite these experiences, I grew tired of the unresponsiveness of Pro's management to member suggestions, or even requests to pause membership while working out of town for several months (this is something that many other high-end clubs in Seattle do for members--common in a town where there's a lot of fisherman away at sea). The treatment and stories I heard from staff also made me concerned about how I was spending my money at Pro. Every few months, the young front desk staff would change---so I wouldn't be recognized by anyone by name for another 2 months, or would get asked "did you check in yet?" when I'd been there for an hour. Pro's money is in personal training, and they do have some good personal trainers, but the good ones are dreaming of a day when they can be out of Pro, away from the pressure of converting to a conservative evangelical church, and finally getting health insurance (trainers tend to vent when you're on the treadmill). The nutritionist I saw there, when given my diet journal and all the information she requested days in advance, didn't reflect on any of it in my appointment. $75 to be handed copies of recipes and told to keep my diet under 1,700 calories a day-- a waste of money. Unlike other high-end clubs in Seattle, Pro Seattle didn't have social gatherings for their members, so if you're looking to meet new people or do networking (I'm not talking about meat markets, rather, building friendships) you won't have opportunities. There are other great gyms to consider in Seattle--- Rain, Olympic, WAC, Seattle Athletic Club. Find the one that fits you best and reflects your values. more

Pro Sports Club Redmond: Auto Salon 5/16/2006

Did a great job on my filthy Jeep Wrangler. They also have a shuttle service that will take you back to work while they are scrubbing away. Their prices are a little much but they gave me the car rate instead of the SUV rate so it wasn't that bad of a deal. more

Like having a personal trainer...but cheaper! 3/20/2006

If you are a member of the pro-club and fantasize about how great your bod would be if you had a personal trainer - but are too frugal to fork over the cash, may I recommend the Circuit Training class? It's one of the punch card classes (25 dollars buys you 10 classes), and you basically do a mix of strength training and cardio. The good thing is that you can adjust the weights you use and the cardio machines to your level. The bad thing is that no adjustment can be made to doing reps and reps of lunges. But that's what you're there for, right? Right? It is intense - but in a good way. The first class, you will leave wiped out. And, well, every class really. But I also leave feeling like I got a total and complete workout. more

Everything you want in a gym 1/19/2006

It's clean, quiet and always seems empty. I joined pro club in November after having been a member of 24 hour fitness for years. While the downtown 24hour isn't a bad option, pro club offers so many more ammenities. A full spa, a PT office (import for me since I'm injury bound), towel service and great locker room facilities including a hot tub, sauna and steam room. The only draw back is that the Seattle location does not have a pool. The Bellevue location does but you need to pay more to get the all club membership. Oh, and they have a parking garage that's always free! If you have a busy schedule and working out downtown is convenient for you, then pro club is the way to go. more

good gym with lots of choices, but packed 8/16/2005

this gym is at a convenient location. It has a lot of stuff to offer. However, to play tennis requires a big initiation fee. There are 4 swimming pools but normally they have only 2 open (the other 2 are used for scuba diving training and therapy). Of the remaining 2, only 1 is for lane swimming. As a result it is often very crowded in weekdays. I need to go 30 minutes before closing to avoid the crowd. more

Wonderful gym with great view of Seattle 6/20/2005

I have been a member of the Seattle pro club since it opened, and I really enjoy the atmosphere and equipment at this gym. It's always very clean and the locker rooms are very nice with plenty of showers, a sauna and a whirlpool. Also, I have found many of the other clubs to be "meat markets" and It's definitely a place to work out, not pick up members of the opposite sex. If I remember right, it is a little expensive to join (I think around 400 initiation fee) and about $65 a month, but well worth the extra money. I have worked with the Personal Trainers and seen great results. They also have a dietician on staff and a PT office on the top floor. One of the nice perks of this club is that they have a spa for massages and other personal hygiene things. Another great thing about the ambiance there is that when you are on the treadmills or elliptical trainers, you get a really nice view of the Seattle Downtown and Queen Anne. It makes something hard, a little more pleasant. The staff is always very friendly as well. The only thing that this gym doesn't have is a pool. more

Making all other clubs look amature 4/30/2005

The Pro Club is an excellent facility. Their trainers are incredible and everything is air-conditioned to just the right level. It's incredibly expensive (if you have to pay full price), but you really get a lot of bang for your buck. You should not visit there unless you are prepared to REALLY want to join, even if it means giving up everything you love. more
