Snobby, but good 1/2/2007

As a long time music geek, I'm drawn to the PRE like a moth to a porch light. They have lots of used vinyl and CDs, but their new CD selection has become a little disappointing as their DVD selection has expanded. But DVD's are the big sellers these days so it's hard to blame them. One caveat, the staff can be really snobby and know it all at times, so expect a few rolled eyeballs if you ask a question. But regardless, if you too are a music geek, the PRE is a mandatory stop. more

great to buy and sell 4/15/2006

This record store has the slight appearance of a garage sale, in a good way, in that records and music are everywhere and the mind boggles at trying to go through them. If you have records you want to sell, they will negotiate with you and buy them. If you have a record you are searching for, this is a great place to begin your search, if they don't have it they may know where to get it! more

Princeton's music source 3/2/2006

This is the place to go if you're looking for music in Princeton. You'll notice this as soon as you walk into the place. There aren't any fancy displays or promotions, just plenty of CDs and records packed into the store. As one other reviewer mentioned, all genres are definitely well-represented. Jazz, blues, rap, classical, rock, you name it and they'll have it. This isn't one of those corporate music stores that simply tries to push the latest Britney Spears du jour at you. The prices are good for both the new and used stuff. Plus, the staff is friendly and has a knowledge breadth to match the store's selection. more

All genres new and used 9/15/2005

This is the best place to find pretty much everything under the sun in music. If they don't have it, I doubt anyone else will. I especially like the large selection of used CDs; I bought many from this store and found them to be great quality. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful, and parking is convenient. Definitely worth a visit! more

Lots of music to browse through 8/30/2005

The Princeton Record Exchange offers a music lover a variety of music! In addition to being able to sell and buy old CDs, new cds are also available for purchase. There is music from every genre...something for everyone including a lot of rarities. Parking is available behind the exchange. The staff is nice and helpful when looking for something in particular. more

Get into the groove at PRE 8/16/2005

This is my favorite record store in NJ. PRE is serious about music and they haven't turned their backs on vinyl like most record stores. Their selection is all encompassing. From Tosca to Tesla they got it. Looking for a Japanese import of James Brown or the latest EP from an underground indie band, I urge you to start here. The store does a brisk trade in used records and cds. I usually find something fab back in the $1.99 section, often bands that are just getting big now or cool classics that someone traded in recently. Believe me, it's worth the trip. If you're a record hound, schedule several hours for the trip. Parking conveniently located in a metered lot next door or try the deck next to the library. more
