Went to Prince's based on 8+ rating on citysearch. Food was not bad, but not good either. A 5, or average, at best. Had burgers, onion rings and fries - nothing special about a...

hamburgers from heaven 12/14/2002

I would give my right arm if I could get a Prince's hamburger where I live now, which is in Paducah Ky. If Ms Donnalds can do it surly Prince's can do it.They are the best burgers I have ever had and i've had them all over the country, i'm a truck driver.PLEASE PRINCE'S COME TO PADUCAH. more

Mmmm, Mmmm Good. 10/26/2002

Best burgers all the way around. Delicious onion rings. Thick, creamy milk shakes. Great service. Fun, retro atmosphere and great for the kids too. Pros: Not to crowded, Good, but cheap eats, Kids menu Cons: Chicken fingers more

Princes of the Universe 10/25/2002

Princes is far and away the best hamburger place in Houston, maybe the world. I mean the food is just effin good. If that were all, I'd still be sold, but the ambiance is also a nice touch. Playing ""what year is that 'vette over there"" with my dad while waiting for the food (and you will wait for the food, this is a restraunt, not some fast food place, for chrissakes) provide me with fond experiences that I feel comfortable sharing with millions of strangers. Princes is a Houston tradition, mainly because it has its own unique style and history, which separate it from all the other burger joints in the universe. It truly is good eatin'. Pros: Great Food, Really, Great Food, No lie, Great Food Cons: Service takes awhile more

Mmmmmm! 10/24/2002

This is place is great. Big, juicy burgers with good onion rings. more

nostalgic 8/16/2002

This was finally a burger the way I wanted it. They cooked everything on the burger so it was all hot and fresh when I got it and I didn't have to do it all myself - and no one else does that anymore. Plus the onion rings were awesome, and the last time I was there I got the chicken tenders and they were outstanding too! Pros: GOOD food Cons: Crowded at lunch more

Royal Treatment 8/16/2002

The food was great and the service was even better! I decided to eat at Prince's because of all the hype and was extremely pleased with the experience. My burger was delicious! Prince's is somewhere I would recommend going from lunch with coworkers or at night with friends or family. I would say its the best burger joint in town! more

Not that good! 8/13/2002

From the hype here I thought I would try Princes. My first experiance was bad. The burger simply tasted bad. It had some kind of metalic taste. So... I thought I would give it another try but i was afraid to get a burger so I tried the Fish sand. Ok, but not impressed. more

Mmm Mmm Good 8/7/2002

Prince's Hamburgers takes you back in time to enjoy soda fountains, fifties music and a fantastic hamburger. I have never been disappointed in a burger at this joint and the fries and those gigantous onion rings are the best! Pros: Orders up quick, Inexpensive, Great Shakes Cons: Crowded at lunch, not much parking more

Prince's makes me smile 7/25/2002

I could eat here every day - the variety is amazing. I love the burgers. I love the onion rings. I love the shakes. I love the chicken tenders, and tender salad. I love the daily specials. I love the fried shrimp - you gotta try the shrimp. Prince's just does it right when it comes to true American food - great atmosphere, good music, friendly service and wow! great food. I could eat Prince's seven times a week. Pros: Inexpensive, big servings, family friendly more

love it - it is fit for a King 7/24/2002

By far the best burgers in Houston, perhaps the best in Texas. I can honestly say I have tried many many burgers in Houston (and all of Texas), for Cheeseburgers are my favorite food. The Prince's Original makes me happy every time, but I also love the Old Timer, the Smitty, and the Alamo Burger. I always take my out of town guests to Prince's and they agree that it is a fun and great place to grab a meal. Thanks. Pros: Great Food, Inexpensive, Big Portions more

A burger fit for a King! 7/24/2002

The burgers are great! Also the malts & the root beer are worth mentioning. We try to grab dinner there whenever we are going to a Comets game! Check 'em out for yourself....great tastes at a price you don't have to rule a kingdom to afford! Pros: Inexpensive more

I love it!! 7/23/2002

great food great price, well worth the trip. Also has the best chocolate malts around more

8.1 7/22/2002

Hamburgers are always cooked to perfection and very tasty. I highly recommend. more

Wicked Awesome 7/18/2002

All types of burgers satisfy all types of people at Prince's - of coarse, I love the Original with Cheese. The meat is great and hot, as with all the toppings - and you can't get a poppeyseed bun anywhere else in town as fresh as Prince's, they must have a bread man come every day! The prices are great and you get a lot of food for your money. The onion rings are out of this world and the shakes are a treat like no other. Prince's really is great. Other places are boring and snobby - but you won't find that at my favorite restuarant. Thanks Prince's for providing great food and a great place to enjoy a fun meal. Pros: Inexpensive, Good for Families, Good for dates more

Better than In & Out! 6/16/2002

Prince's does have the best burgers! I've been to Southern Cal and have heard the best burgers are from In-n-Out. I went there on a recent trip, and yes, they were good, but nowhere near as good as Prince's! Pros: food, atmosphere, price Cons: kids running rampant more

Prince's Fit For A King 5/31/2002

Our family had the opportunity of eating at Princes on a recent trip to Houston. Seven different burgers were ordered in our group and all seven were terrific. The onion rings were especially good with a wonderful light batter. The milk shakes are thick and creamy and served in an old fashioned glass with still more in a metal blender cup, which greatly pleased our daughter. What a great opportunity to take a step back in time, and take in the sights and sounds of the 1950s and forget about the cares of the day. Pros: fast service, pleasant atmosphere, good deal for the mon more

  • In Short
Prince's wasn't Houston's first drive-in restaurant--that honor belongs to the venerable Pig Stand--but it withstood the deluge of franchise drive-throughs. A fun tribute to the...
