Jenny71, you seem very angry. What unbelievable personal attacks on me, someone who loves children and parents. I wonder how well you actually know me. Obviously, not well at all....

This swim program has a huge drawback, infact the owner and manger act so sincere but in reality they do not know how to handle make-up lessons due to weather or pool incidents, full of hokey and children will feel the pokey learning. Your child will have trouble moving up in the classes due to age, lack of class time and the scheduling in very inconvenient for families. Manager told me there were so many bills to pay that no make ups were available. Families do not want to hear excuses about their financial problems. We have since gone to Tom Dolan swim school at Dulles 28 plaza. Sooo much better and teachers teach more effectively. more

Very disappointing results for my children. The staff puts on a front but really can not teach. They owner seems very insecure and gossip is her world. The Drama from the staff can be over heard just by listening during a 30min lesson in the waiting room. How could any business be so corrupt and dishonest! The Tom Dolan swim school is the place to be with cutting edge teaching style your children can be on top of the sport. And less than 1 mile away from PSS. more

We've tried other programs in the area, but were not happy with the instruction or environment. Potomac Swim School has proven to be the best fit for our family. Wonderful instructors, clean fun environment and our kids are loving their lessons. Great progress and well worth the money spent. We tell all of our friends about PSS! more

Editorial review from Citysearch 1/30/2013

My 4 year old son was very afraid of water. I talked with the receptionist who told me that they would take it very slowly with him. His first lesson was awful. He was dunked underwater TWICE and forced to sit by the pool screaming and crying. The teacher was very tough with him and we will not be returning. It's a shame that this small 30min lesson has given him a greater fear of the water. I truly believe that kids need to have a trust of their teachers. Their behavior with his lessons did not give him that trust at all. I would expect more compassion and understanding for a swimming program geared for children. more

slooooow learning 12/3/2011

Your child will be in the program about 4 years with very slow progression. Some teachers are better than others and the method of teaching will never make your child a fast swimmer, Very few go on to be successful on a swim team, because techniques taught are very old and front breathing, straight arm swimming will not make anyone fast, also no make-ups due to pool closings is the worst policy ever.letSwim is a better place in the area go to LetSwim program instead more

Swim school loosing clients rapidly 12/2/2011

Beware of this swim program, most classes are very slow moving. Manager says most kids need to stay 7 years to learn, you will go broke by then. Cancellation policy nonexistant. Your children do not need that many years to learn great swimming. The groups are small but very slow moving.Owner needs your money to pay off her loan. My children did not get anything but an ear infection. Found better programs elsewhere at Carlisle swimming Dulles 28, Sterling VA more

Warm Water, Cold Owner 11/29/2011

Don't be fooled by the fake promises owners tells parents to sign up for her inferior program. Parents will get sucked in and children will suffer for 7 years. Children are infected by germs incubating in the warm water. Owner talks to parents as if they are children. No compromises, just her way or no way. Go visit and listen fake owner, check out her unfair make up policy. Better visit Carlile swimming and parrot fish swimming so you can compare, just watch how out dated swim techniques hold children back so it takes years at PSS to learn what can be learned at any other swim school in less than half the time. more

Dear Jenny71 11/22/2011

Jenny71, you seem very angry. What unbelievable personal attacks on me, someone who loves children and parents. I wonder how well you actually know me. Obviously, not well at all. I have worked with children and families for 30 years in education and swimming and have had great relationships with them. 1. What do you mean when you say ""fake promises""? 2. How would you know if PSS is inferior and outdated or not? Did a competitor tell you that? If so, you really need to do your research on child development, education and swimming. You need to read our testimonials page on our website. PSS has taught thousands of children safety skills and how to swim. 3. What are your credentials as an educator in swimming? 4. What compromise did you ask for? 5. ""Children will suffer for seven years"", what do you mean by that? 6. How many sessions did you attend Potomac Swim School? 7. All private swim schools, that have their own pools, around the world have warm water. Research shows, in the laws of physics, that warm water allows people who are learning to swim to have warm muscles, so that they can move and it is safe for them. When learning to swim an expert does not want people or children in water that is cold, it can be dangerous. Our Waterbaby parents and infants shiver if the water is 85 degrees. more

really disapointing - my money was wasted 11/20/2011

My children did not benefit from this program. Have been taking lessons for the past 2 years -have finally moved on to better swim program 2miles away. Children learn very very slowly because instructors have little knowledge of swimming and read off a card. Lessons are canned and there is no individual help for the struggling child. swim techniques are from the 60's and have not been updated. Children will never be very fast with old style swimming. Thankfully I have taken my children elsewhere. don't waste your money, like I did. read the reviews. more

Very caotic lessons- pool staff unorganized 10/24/2011

Wish I read the horrible reviews before I signed up for swim school. The reviews are correct, high priced low quality and bad make up policy. Owner is a bit over protective with her comments and she has her staff write comments for her and post on her own review pages. Both owner and manager have by polar personalities and will tell you one thing to get you to sign up, then change policy or tell you that they never said what they did originally. Don't waste your money and you childrens' time at this low result, high priced swim farm. more
