Point Defiance Park 5/7/2006

There is so much to see in this area, it can take all day. There is the zoo, aquarium, gift shop, rose garden, Kidz' Zone, and I really like the Humpty Dumpty site. There is a multitude of stuff here, and I cannot remember them all. In the zoo, I especially liked the naked mole rats. Cheap thrills. For walking outside of the zoo, there is no charge. How nice is that? more

Tacoma's crown jewel 8/17/2005

Point Defiance park is simply an amazing oasis in Tacoma. The trails that crisscross the park offer an amazing variety of terrain with beatiful views and walks through old growth forest. The 5 Mile Drive is an enjoyable biking route, especially on Saturday mornings when it is closed to cars. Owen Beach is somewhat of a teen hangout, but if you hike north out towards the point there is a lot of great wild shoreline too see including some awesome clay bluffs. At low tide you can hike all the way around the point. This park is one of my favorite places in the world. more
