I'm new to the area and decided to take my mother (who was visiting) to dinner. We waited to be seated while the hostess/bartender opened about four bottles of wine. It wasn't until four other diners entered that she bothered to seat us. Once seated, I decided to ask for a glass of wine, Pinot Nior. The waitress went off for about 10 minutes and then came to me and said I'm sorry, what did you ask for again? Oh yeah, we don't have Pinot Noir. After going through some other wines that they didn't have (it was only 7pm), I asked for a Chianti and they had! Joy! When I finally received my glass, I realized that the wine was turning. I told the waitress and she did not understand what I meant. I finally asked for a pinot grigio (something they couldn't mess up). I only received my glass after the hostess/bartender shouted my order across the dining floor. "Who ordered the Pinot Grigio?!". The food, not much to be desired. I am relocating from New York and that is horrific Italian food. Bland is too nice of a word to describe the taste. I can stomach lack luster food if the service is great or the wine list is the true draw to the establishment. This place lacked everything. My husband, sister, and a friend spent my birthday dinner here. We were all incredibly disappointed! We arrived early happy to sit at the bar until our reservation time... however, we waited two hours - that included one hour PAST our reservation time! There were NO apologies either, and our server took another 15-20 minutes to get to our table. She was slighly apologetic. The food: I have been to Italy on two trips for a total of nearly 4 weeks and I have had better. Service was seriously lacking, and when our somewhat outspoken friend mentioned our extended wait when we left, the lady actually said we shouldn't show up early for a reservation - no apology there for our hour wait past the time! A fantastic place for Italian food. Best Ive had anywhere around here, including Atlanta. Pretty extensive wine list, and if you know wine, the prices are not at all unreasonable. Nice decor. An elegant restaurant with a sophisticated menu containing several delicious dishes, and an extensive wine list. The wait staff is knowledgeable and helpful. On the down side, it is rather pricey, and parking can be difficult downtown. And it's the first restaurant I've ever been in that doesn't offer iced tea. more
