Horrible experience, embarrassed to have taken a guest 8/19/2011

Horrible... Let me first say that I am typically very accommodating (timid?) in terms of poor service here and there. However, tonight was without a doubt ""The Worst"" I have experienced in some time (years). My family had received their dinner and 20 minutes later mine had still not arrived. The waitress explained that shrimp ""takes much longer"" plus they had to walk to Food Lion to get the shrimp. Of course, the manager later denied that, saying they were a large company and didn't know why she said that... Being in business myself, I personally would have offered the entire meal free and given a coupon for the next visit in an effort to keep a customer. Not here....full price and NO apologies.... All I can say is....Wow.... Where is there a decent Mexican Restaurant in Virginia Beach??? more

HAIR IN MY FOOD!!! 3/14/2011

Everything was great for my birthday dinner with family until I found 2 black hairs floating in the cheese at the bottom of my Mahi Mahi. Ronald, the manager was too busy to come to our table, then he made denials/excuses instead of an apology, as we checked out. According to Ronald he has hair flying around the restaurant, so it must be the customers fault. Oh wait, we were seated at the back of the restaurant, there were no other customers around us. This was our 2nd time there because we recently had a good lunch there. Obviously, WE WILL NEVER GO BACK!!! WATCH OUT FOR THE FLYING CUSTOMER HAIR!!! more

I have been going to Plaza Azteca since they were a little hole in the wall place years ago. Since they have upgraded and became fancy, they have lost the most important thing.....customer service. We got there at 6 pm and was told the wait was 30 minutes. An hour later I ask the lady about the wait. She told me 15 minutes. It wouldn't have been an issue but I saw them seat people who came in after us with the same amout of people in our party. Not once but three times!!!! When I asked her about it , she just said sorry.... and proceeded to sit the other parties. By that time my two kids were starving and we left. I tried to contact the manager the next day....but he was to busy to come to the phone. awesome!!!! I'll take my business elsewhere. Pros: nice ritas Cons: the worst customer service more

very disappointed 5/16/2008

My fiance and I are from Texas and visit the VA Beach area often. We first went to Plaza Azteca in January 2008. Although we had an unfriendly waiter, we were impressed with most of the food (especially the white cheese dip) and enjoyed possibly the best margarita I ever had. We returned when we were back in town the following May and had an all-around negative experience. Best frozen Margarita & slammin fajitas....deeeelicious! 8/23/2006

We've visited a lot of places locally & nationwide and Plaza Azteca's Frozen Margaritas are the best. We actually had to send our drinks back, at a popular restaurant chain who confessed they were using a mix. There is a difference!! The mixed fajitas with steak, pork, shrimp, & chicken are excellent. The portions are generous too. One Plaza Azteca tasty Margarita will actually leave you with a buzz even after your meal is done. My husband who's a drinker too- agrees. They don't skimp. I've been a customer for over 10 years. My sons, now in their early & mid 20's still go because as boys they always loved the chicken nachos (I bet they've graduated to drinking their own margarittas by now). Pros: Strength & flavor of the frozen drinks Cons: They put you in the mood, but you can't dance there more

Miss the white sauce and chile relleno..... 1/19/2006

I no longer live in the Va Beach area, and truly miss Plaza as a lunchtime and dinnertime favorite. The value per price ratio is a steal. Nothing fancy but good. I now live in SC and we have a large number of Mexican restaurants here, but NO ONE is doing a white sauce like Plaza, nor are their chile relleno's anything like what Plaza does. Look forward to ""going home"" to visit...Plaza will be on my list, if only for the white sauce and chile relleno.... poor service with processed cheese 7/9/2003

Well, I'll just start off by saying I chose to go to this restaurant because it was voted best mexican restaurant in Norfolk/Vabeach area according to this website. But instead, it was the worst mexican restaurant I've been to- no, let me change that, one of the worst restaurants in general that I've been to! When we, a group of 4, arrived, there was no hostess there to seat us. We watched waiter after waiter pass by untill final one got us a table. It turned out the hostess was late for her shift. The service was poor. Our waiter just flew by our table while tossing our tortilla chip refill bowl on the edge our table. And the get this: they only have processed cheese! enough said, go to rancho grande instead. Pros: good parking, nice decor Cons: processed cheese, lame food, bad service more

they give you enough food to eat for two days and its super cheap. the food is sooo good and its authentic! You can just get full form the chips and fresh salsa. more
