I recommend the work and the services provided to me by Planesman Construction, President Harold Bend. Planesman Construction has provided numerous construction services to me for my home over the past ten years. I am more than satisfied with their work. The work has ranged widely from repairing outside damage done to siding, treatment of siding of the whole building, to interior replacement of a stove top, refrigerator, dishwasher, all of which required matching the facing panels to existing design, repairing, damaged floor under the refrigerator, to building railings on my deck. He also directed me to competent, ethical, low cost contractors for other construction needs such as, demolition and furnace specialists. In all of our commercial transactions, Mr. Bend has been highly competent, thoughtful, organized, thorough, timely and cost conscience. I recommend him highly for any project he might assume. more

Harold Bend and his Planesman construction crew have earned a very high recommendation from me. I recently purchased a very old house and decided to do some remodeling.I chose Harold because I liked his friendly, folksy manner, but I am recommending him because of the quality of his work. He surpervised his crew on a daily basis, and always followed up if things were not right. He continues to do so today. His crew was easy to have around and very professional in their skills. Thank you Planesman! more

Over the last ten years, we have had Planesman Construction work on 2 major remodeling projects (kitchen demolition and rebuild; family room addition) and several other less intrusive but important projects (windows replacement, insulation, etc.). All have been completed to our total satisfaction. Harold Bend (owner) and his crew are responsive, responsible and resourceful. They have always answered our questions, researched our concerns, and provided pragmatic solutions to problems that have emerged prior to, during and after the construction process. We have received good cost/bid information in advance and, when surprises occurered, which they inevitably do during a remodeling process, we were quickly provided a range of corrective/creative options with corresponding prices from which to choose a solution. What you get with Planesman is not only solid technical, nuts and bolts building experience and expertise, but an architectural sensitivity to aesthetic issues of style, finish, color, form and material--an unusual quality in a construction company. They are true craftsmen who care deeply about the quality of their work and the satisfaction of their clients. And, they show up when they say they'll show up! more

High Quality Workmanship. Our experience couldn't have been more different from the review written by MnRiverman. We were referred to Planesmand Construction from SALA Architechts in Mpls. We built our house over 10 years ago and still comment on what a wonderful job Harold and his crew did for us. He was honest, fair, and the quality of construction cannot be beat. We hold very high standards for any type of construction or handywork and Planesman Construction met and exceeded all of them. When your building a high quality custom house expect certain issues to come up, and the way you can tell when you have a good contractor is when they work with you to resolve the problems i.e admit mistakes and correct any issues. As the customer, we had to learn we too made mistakes but PC was always fair in dealing with us to correct them. Lastly, once the house is built the contractor will need to come back and take care of the punch list and maybe even fix something years later that maybe you think needs to be addressed. Harold has never ignored a request in the years we've lived here. He will continue to service your needs even years after you wrote him the check. We highly recommend Planesman Construction. You wont be disappointed. If we build another home, our first call will be Planesman Construction. more

Low Quaility 4/4/2009

High cost with low quality. A remodel at $417.00 a square foot should result in a relatively high quality product for a kitchen not having walls moved/changed. The cost figure is plus appliances (15,000) and plus designer fees. This contractor was unable to read and/or follow the plans or measure correctly, e.g. window location. This resulted in an upper cabinet being sized differently from the plans and a side filler strip was still required to fill the gap between the cabinet and a window casing. They did not follow range hood manufacture?s instructions on installation resulting in a marginally operating hood system. The counter backsplash does not meet tight against the wall sheet rock and is too high causing the bottom window casing having to be cut and narrowed to fit. The crown molding is not tight against the sheet rock above the sink window area. One newly installed window height is different from others necessitating a modified bottom casing. Several window sills installed with nails through the edge ? unlike the many other windows in the house and kitchen. Upper cabinets had no hanger strips instead installed by screwing through the thin plywood backs. Many of the drawers have broken pieces of wood for shims to make them square and/or flush fitting. All of the cabinets were built with puttied nail heads showing on the outside ? now a different color than the cherry cabinets. Painters did not prep window wood before staining resulting in blotches. The CATV outlet for a built in TV was installed too low ending up behind a drawer resulting in another jerry-rigged affair. Two pre-existing warm air vents now heat a new cabinet space resulting in not being able to use them for food or wine/liquor. A low cost development house shows better than this workmanship, which appears amateurish and similar to a poor DIY. Pros: Example: best croissants in town Cons: What are the drawbacks? more
