This is placed under seafood restaurants, and just b/c you have some seafood on the menu, you are not necessarily a seafood restaurant. The food is good, the view was pretty good,...

The Heart of Seattle 8/18/2005

The Pike Place Market is truly the heart of Seattle. It is always bustling with life and activity and I really couldn't imagine Seattle without thinking of the Market. I used to live downtown and when I would walk back from work I'd always take a detour through the market to pick up fresh vegetables or seafood. They have a large number of flower venders there as well with prices well below that of a normal florist. People always think of the "Low Flying Fish" guys when thinking of the market. Personally - I just remember all the good times I have had with my family walking through there as a kid. more

Like Pike 8/17/2005

I love Pike Place Market. A completely unique Seattle experience. i love the cheap flowers, the rows of fresh vegetables and yes, the fried fish. I love the fish throwers who freak people out with that big fish that they encourage people to touch and then have its mouth open. I love the newsstand and scanning through magazines for free hoping not to get caught by the cashier (who cracks me up.) I love it when it's kind of quiet there and it's pouring rain out while your safe inside. Caveat: I would not be caught dead there during the tourist season from memorial through Labor Day. more

Definitely a must-see for visitors 8/16/2005

While in Seattle, I visited the Pike Place Market. At first I was pretty skeptical, but it was actually very fun. It's on the edge of downtown, right next to the water. There are dozens of vendors offering various items for sale. The fish throwers are definitely something you have to stop by and watch for a few minutes - everyone really gets into it. I will say that some of the places do seem a bit shady and are a bit expensive, but no one said you had to buy anything! There are tons of free samples as well - giving you a chance to try all the fresh fruits and other foods. more

Undiscovered Gem 8/15/2005

I love Place Pigalle. But every time I tell that to someone else, they look at me with a blank stare. Although it's been around for years, most Seattle-ites don't really know about it. Place Pigalle is tucked away in the Pike Place Market well back of the tourist hubbub. It's a spare bistro-style room, and it's usually not very crowded. But it's one of the very few downtown Seattle restaurants with a view of the sound. And, most important, it consistently offers one of the more inventive and adventuresome menus in town. The chef's creations, which often juxtapose traditional northwest eclectic fare (like salmon, duck and various veggie dishes) with unusual and surprising citrus-based sauces and demi-glaces, don't always work out as planned, but they're always interesting and they're often out of this world. I think it's one of the top 10 restaurants in Seattle, and it's been so for a long time. more

Seattle Tourist Attraction 8/13/2005

Definately a popular tourist attraction. You can get great deals on veggies, a whole bouquet of flowers for cheap, nice souvenirs and trinkets, and of course seafood. This is also where the first ever Starbucks was open. You'll want to stop by and see them throw the salmon around. This place gets crowded so keep that in mind, but nice place to spend a day looking around and shopping. more

Seattle Landmark 8/12/2005

Pike Place Market is a treat for the out-of-towner or local. Your visitors will get a kick out of seeing fish thrown at the fishmonger's, browsing through the amazing array of flowers from the Puget Sound region, and seeing the other upscale flea-market style stalls. Locals are regulars at places like the comics shop, the tea shop, and the Italian import shop. Parking is always a challenge, but this is a must see for your out of town guests. more

Pike Place Market, fun for everyone... 8/10/2005

The Pike Place Market has been around for years, and brings together hundreds of people together each day. Hundreds of vendors put together their things to sell to consumers. It is one of the most diverse places in Seattle where people come together to buy or just look around at the different food or things there are being sold. more

Who hasn't seen fish being thrown 8/4/2005

Pike Place market is one of the most well-known places in Seattle and is fun to visit once in a while. There are pretty flowers for sale, flying fish and just about every type of food imaginable. There is something for everyone here! more

The Seattle experience! 7/31/2005

It seems like everyone has heard of the famous flying fish at the Pike Place Market. It is the perfect place to bring out-of-town guests, or to recommend to tourists. Besides the fun of watching the yelling fish-throwers at the famous fish store, there are funky little shops that sell practically everything, great produce and beautiful flower bouquets available. It's one-stop shopping at its best! more
