Always an on-the-go treat between classes or late nights. I've heard many people declare it a favorite. Even if you're not a student, it's worth the stop. Try the tomato and ga...

Tasty Pizza 9/29/2008

I ordered the special and had it delivered. Price to pizza Amalfi is pretty good. Ingredients were good. I must say the dough was tasteless and the sauce was kinda bland, but overall it was pretty good. I'd basically keep this place in my rotation of pizza places. Pros: pizza, delivery more

tasty pizza 7/25/2008

Tasty pizza. Reasonable price. Fast. Convinent location. I will recommend my friends this restaurant. Pros: Yummy pizza and garlic knots! more

the smell takes you in. 5/15/2008

you pass in front of this place you can't help but be drawn inside. The quirkiness of the window display and the smell of the food are too inviting. But the slowest service will make sure you dont get value for money. If the crowds of new york are proving too much, head here. It's sure to perk you up and bring a smile to your face if you are not expecting a fast service. Pros: The smell is great Cons: service! more

A student's best friend. 12/8/2004

For 4$ you can't get much better. The pizza is a just bit better than average, but the price is what makes Pizza Mercato a weekly treat. Take out is better because the seating is just awful unless you like college students, but I'm always satisfied when I leave. Pros: price! more

Inexpensive Pizza 7/26/2004

The pizza here is average. For the price, the food is pretty decent, and I certainly have no complaints. In general, however, there are better places to get a slice of pizza. Compared with some of the other places that serve pizza by the slice, Mercato gives the impression that it's pizza has been sitting out for a little bit longer. No serious grievances with this place, and if you are in the area, stop by and try a slice. Some people really enjoy it, so judge for yourself. Pros: Cheap, Quick more

there's better in the neigborhood 12/16/2002

Pizza Mercato serves passable pizza for cheap. You can get the 2-slice+a drink deal, but beware, the drink is tiny. The sandwiches are okay, and service is fast, but for my money, I'd rather walk across the park for The Pizzeria on MacDougal (halfway to Bleeker St.) They don't have the starving-student deal, but the slices are still cheap, and the pizza is just better. Mercato's is okay, but if you're doing the shopping stroll down Broadway, do yourself a favor and head for The Pizzeria. More seating there, less of a college-student crush at peak times, too. Pros: fast, cheap, just a block fm B'way Cons: crowded, crappy seating more

Great pizza, great deal 7/25/2002

Used to go here a lot when i went to NYU, and i miss it terribly. Best pizza in New York, as far as i'm concerned. It's got a really good fluffy but flat yeasty crust that makes you want to scarf down way more pizza than you really need to be eating. They also have a great deal of 2 cheese slices and a drink for $3. Beat that. And as the sign in the window proudly proclaims, they make pizza ""the way its served at the Italian embassy."" (Yea, right) ;) more

NYU's best pizza spot 7/19/2002

Always an on-the-go treat between classes or late nights. I've heard many people declare it a favorite. Even if you're not a student, it's worth the stop. Try the tomato and garlic--with and an altoid. more
