Daniel Iannelli, with the help of his wonderful assistant Caitlin, provided me with the best hair experience of my life. He spent lots of time giving me a consultation, and then did my hair-- cut, color and highlights. I came back the following week with a question and he ""tweeked"" my hair and it is so fabulous. I must look great- I went to 10 Arts for happy hour and a very attractive man at least 10 years my junior sent a drink to my table! I've been to many hairstylists-- here in Phila, NY and Paris and I always had just ok-ish results-- or come away disappointed. I am so glad I found Daniel. I can't see any reason why I would go to another stylist.\r \r And as an added bonus, Daniel and Caitlin are fun people to be around. more

My experience at Pileggi was NOT so glowing. Based on ""glowing"" reviews I made an appointment with Daniel. I arrived on time and was brought upstairs to him where I watched him cutting another clients hair for the next 30 minutes. He eventually greeted me kindly and asked what I wanted to do with my hair today. I briefly told him and he went back to work on the other client. Finally he had someone shampoo me. Next thing I knew, some unknown stylist was blow drying me! There was no word from Daniel, right next to me working on another client. No, ""gee, I'm sorry I'm running behind, would it be alright if someone else does your hair?"" I was stuck. I needed my hair done for a wedding that night, so I was reluctant to express my unhappiness. I understand, things happen and people get behind schedule. But to book with a specific stylist and get a substitute with no explanation is unacceptable, not to mention unprofessional. All in all, my hair was acceptable (not fabulous). more

I can not express in words what a true gem of a stylist Daniel Iannelli is, but I will try to convey it! After years of searching for a great stylist and colorist, I finally found Daniel! My initial appointment with him far exceeded my expectations! Daniel was attentive to what I wanted, as well as my concerns and also did exactly what we discussed in relation with my hair. ( I've been to stylists before that say one thing and then do the complete opposite). He recommended a style and cut that complimented my face and worked beautifully for my lifestyle. Daniel was also knowledgeable and informative about the condition, care and maintenance of my hair. You can definitely tell that he has years of expertise and natural talent! I felt so glamorous and sexy when I left his chair! I have never had enough confidence in a stylist/colorist to dye my hair ... until Daniel. Daniel was the very first person ever to color my hair! I am so happy that I trusted him because the color is stunning and I have received many compliments regarding it! He made me feel like a million bucks! I've been having Daniel style my hair for years, and once my daughter got past the age for ""bowl cuts"" she has seen him too. All the rave reviews about Daniel's amazing skills are true -- he works magic with cuts and colors -- but I want to tell you about something else: He is dedicated to helping his clients understand their hair and work with it themselves. Case in point: My teenage daughter has become ultra-focused on her hair, as only teens can be, and has been in to see him several times between appointments to ask advice and get lessons on blow-drying and hair care. He is so incredibly patient and kind with her! And she has learned some really useful things. An wonderful person as well as a first-class stylist! more

As soon as I met Daniel for our appointment I was greeted with a smile and a welcoming attitude. He sat down and listened very intently to the concerns I had about my hair color. Where most stylists seem to listen, time always seems limited and I always felt rushed or sometimes silly with my ideas. However, with Daniel, he seemed to take just as much interest in the health and appearance of my hair as I did! I couldnt believe how much time he took with me discussing color options and ideas; in addition to educating me about hair in ways that were above and beyond the usual mantras you hear at every salon. Sometimes Im almost insulted at what other styists tell me as if Ive never heard it before. But Daniel was informative on a whole different level. Not only that, but he also pointed out things right away like the shape of my head and the way certain cuts would look with my face shape... that Ive been trying to explain to hair stylists for years and they look at me like Im crazy.- thats when I knew I would be his client for life! Hes the only person who gets it !!!! I joked with my friends that I felt like I was meeting with the Jesus of hair stylists. Im a blonde and I wanted to go a little darker. At first, I loved how it came out!! I left and after walking around the city, I suddenly decided that I might want a few more highlights in the front. Before I left he assured me that if I wasnt feeling it or I wanted an adjustment to feel free to call anytime and he would adjust until I felt it was perfect. In any other circumstance I would have dealt with it rather than be embarrassed but since he was so reassuring, I trusted I could go back without anyone rolling their eyes. And when I did, there he was smiling. He put in a few more highlights with the help of his equally welcoming assistant. At one point I felt like my sugar was getting a little low and I asked if there was perhaps a cookie or some juice around. She immediately came back with her own candy she had brought for herself. When I left I was just ecstatic at the way I looked. I felt like the whole city was looking at me, I got so many compliments. Daniel is definitely the best experience I have ever had with a hair stylist ever, not ony for his incredible talent but also for the time, respect, and attention that he gives his clients. These are the things that separate the average from the excellent, and why he is worth every penny. more

He takes the time to listen to you, very conscientious, makes great recommendations, communicates with you, and can transform you into a new person. I recently had my hair done and finally agreed to let Daniel create a style that fits my hair type, personality, and face shape. I TRUSTED him and allowed Daniel to create. It was the best decision I made. I went to work and received compliments and shockingly from men who tend to not notice or not say anything. Daniel, I love my cut! My hair was in a bad place, too long, color WAY overgrown - Daniel and his assistant were able to achieve a beautiful color with highlights and some other magic remedy and meet my time requirements of only 1.5 hours. \r \r His upstairs chair on Walnut street is a nice venue and he has a very nice assistant. Plus he made himself completely available via text/email for any future hair catastrophes.\r \r It was pricey, but not more so than any other good salon in Center City.\r \r Much appreciated. more

After over five years of searching for a stylist in Philadelphia who can actually give me the haircut I asked for, I have found a great stylist! Daniel Ianelli has actually cut my hair in the perfect, blunt cut bob that no one else has been able to since I moved to Philly from New York. Finally! Daniel has now cut my hair twice to perfection. He actually listens and gives you the cut you ask for. He's also a pretty good conversationalist and a cool guy. Highly recommend. more

Pileggi is awesome, but my review here is for Daniel Ianelli, who is a MASTER with hair color & condition, lemme tell ya. I started going to Daniel in 1994 -- I came to him in the middle of growing out a horrific ""spiral perm"" that had made my shoulder-length hair a nightmare of frizz & breakage. He gave me a Goldwell ""sealant"" that was literally transformative. When I went back to work, the office could not believe that my smooth, shiny hair wasn't a wig. Three of my coworkers signed up for appointments that day. Over the years, I moved around and while I occasionally --especially in later years -- managed to track down a stylist who had access to the same products, my hair was never as good as when I was seeing Daniel. Flash forward to 2008, when I moved back to the area. Of course I had to look up Daniel and YAY!!! Though he, too, had moved around a bit, he had recently returned to Pileggi so we had a ""homecoming,"" of sorts. I came with my sister, who had thin, fine, overprocessed hair that she'd given up hope on, frankly. Daniel taught her about hair care & keeping it healthy & protecting the matrix and blah blah blah... The man's really a scientist, and if you are interested in learning about the HOW and WHY of hair care, you really need to chat him up. He's still doing the ""sealants"" -- which are even better now than they were back in the 90's, obviously. He also does a ""sun kissed"" thing that gives hair a lovely shimmer that conveys depth & movement. Kinda subtle, though, so not so sure it's worth it on my dark hair but with my sister's blonde it helps extend the time between highlights, which saves money & also helps in the overall condition of your hair (less processing). Anyway, my sister's hair has never looked better. Took awhile to grow out her ""old hair"" but now that she's almost all new growth, the difference is amazing. I can't say enough about Daniel's magic! Oh yeah, he's also damn good with the shears and blowouts. Don't be afraid to trust Daniel's style suggestions. Last visit, he cut in some bangs -- always tricky, right? -- but not only did I leave his salon looking like a rock star but the cut has been a breeze to maintain. He seems to know how to cut hair so it falls naturally in to place. He's not cheap, but I don't see the point in skimping on hair. It's the only accessory that we wear all day, every day. Plus, it frames the face, so if your hair is unflattering... well... I'd rather pinch pennies on shoes or bags. I travel one and one half hours one way to see Daniel. After a cut I have only to dry my hair and comb into place. He is professional, a superb colorist and an excellent stylist ( make that a dam good stylist ). I also appreciate the time he takes with you, to answer questions or to explain what he is going to do. Daniel is the Pavorati of stylist!! There is no other!!!! more

I have been seeing Jeffrey at Pileggi On the Square for many years now; I have always been extremely happy with my cut and color but after receiving a keratin treatment, I am ecstatic! I have had Brazilian Blow-outs from other salons and have never been pleased with the results. I was apprehensive about the keratin treatment, due to the high cost. This was my last attempt on trying to transforming my thick unmanageable hair. Jeffrey assured me that I should expect wonderful results (they use a product that is formaldehyde free, which most Brazilian treatments contain, hence lower cost and unsatisfactory results) Now, my only disappointment, is that I did not do it sooner! My hair is smooth, shiny, and straight! My blow dry and flat ironing time has been cut in half! I am so excited about my hair that I just had to write a review and make sure every woman knows the benefit of this product and my stellar stylist Jeffrey! SOoo happy! more

I've been coming to Pileggi's for about 4 years now and I'd never think to go anywhere else! The salon itself is beautiful inside and has a very comfortable and inviting feel to it. The girls at the front desk are very polite and helpful. I love that they call to remind you of your appointments...so perfect when you have a busy schedule. When I arrive for my appointment, I never wait more than 10 minutes to see my stylist.\r \r Speaking of my stylist, Janet is the BEST. Even if I don't know what I want, she always makes the best suggestions. She knows exactly what color and style will fit your face shape, skin tone, and personality. When dying my hair, she creates the perfect balance and dimension and I'm always amazed at how great it looks after she is finished cutting and styling it. I get so many complements!\r \r Janet even suggests different styles that I might not have thought about otherwise, and most of the time I will go with them because I value her opinion. She always makes my hair look awesome and lets me in on the best products to help maintain my hair and keep it looking great. My boyfriend even goes to her to get his hair cut and he is always pleased at how well it turns out.\r \r I would recommend Janet, and Pileggi's, to anyone! more

I walked into Pileggi on the Square after being booted from Vanity Salon (see my review!). I walked in and made an appointment for the very next day; the front desk staff were attentive and polite, and kindly guided me to a staff member that would deliver the kind of hair that I was looking for: adventurous, stylish, and urban. I saw Jeffrey the next day, and he spent 4 hours turning me into a star! He is so kind and attentive, warming me with blankets when I was cold and chatting with me in the most friendly way. He made me feel so comfortable with him, and on top of that, my hair is beautiful. I did return the next week for a slight change, but it was due to ME changing my mind and nothing to do with Jeff (the red that I had asked for grew to be too much for me to handle over the weekend. I bit off more than I could chew, and Jeff changed it for free.) \r \r Jeff and I spent 4 hours shooting the breeze and having a great time getting my hair back to gorgeous. He gave me every last detail that I asked for and did it with a smile. He is kind, stylish, and warm, and you will walk out of Pileggi feeling stunningly beautiful and having had a great time! I strutted my way through Philadelphia after my appointment with him, and you will, too. I am facing major surgery in a month and was desperate to feel sexy again after dealing with endless medical appointments and poor health. Jeffrey gave me exactly what I was looking for: he made me feel sexy again, and I can't thank him or Pileggi salon enough. I will be back, Jeff! \r \r I came to Pileggi nervous due to the fact that I had an abhorrent experience with Vanity Salon that same day. Pileggi, Jeff, & the entire staff reinstated my confidence in salons and never made me feel as though I was out of place or looked down upon. \r I recently relocated to Philadelphia for a new position. One of the women in my firm always had a great cut and color and I asked for a recommendation. She told me about Jeffrey Moffett at Pileggi and now people stop me and ask where I get my hair done. Jeffrey is a master when it comes to color. He custom blended highlights and lowlights that are spectacular together. And my cut is really unique, not the cookie cutter hairdo that 95% of women in my age group have. The one other thing that speaks volumes about Jeffrey's professionalism is that he actually called me a day or 2 later and asked if I was happy with my cut and color. I have never had that happen -- this guy's a real pro. I am an actor in NYC and have tried so many places in manhattan for a good haircut, and always end up leaving very unhappy. I have taken the bus to Philly for 2 years now to get my haircut with Jeffrey Moffett from Pileggi. Best haircut I've ever had, and gets better and better as it grows in. The guy is flawless and skilled, and needs very little explanation before he dives in and gets to work. I ALWAYS leave happy, and its definitely worth the bus trip! BAM! more
