Homey Italian restaurant. Lots of choices; good service. Prices are a little high for what you get, but overall a good choice for Italian food. more

Quaint Italian Restaurant in Greenville Area 2/21/2010

My companion and I visited Pietro's this past Saturday night to celebrate. We were greeted by a waitress as we came in and Pietro himself came out as well. I had asked to be seated in the porch area, but we were seated in the back room. That wouldn't have been bad except there was a large birthday party back there already. Alyson was our waitress and was both friendly and very helpful. We had asked for samples of a wine and she both back two generous samples and then assisted further in our wine selections.. We placed our orders - Veal Champagne and Lasagna with Meat Sauce and I optioned for the Caesar salad while my companion got the dinner salad. Then things went sourth. A second larger birthday party came in complete with cameras and people moving around. While I will note they have a wonderful room for parties, seating a couple back with the large parties was an inconsiderate move on the part of the acting hostess. We could not talk freely because of the noise level, being bumped as people walked about and ducking flashes from cameras. . \r \r The salads arrrived and yes, my salad looked brown BUT it was because of the dressing not because it was old or wilted. The homemade Caesar dressing was flavorable but I had too much of it on my salad. The breadsticks were diappointing in anyone can buy them in the cracker aisle of a grocery store.\r \r Our meals arrived and I will say the lasagna with meat sauce was wonderful as was the side of spaghetti accompanying my meal. The Itaiian bread served with the meal was hearty on the inside and crusty on the outside. Exactly the way it should be. I did enjoy that the veal was very lightly breaded and not covered in a heavy overpowering breading. The champagan sauce was delicately balanced. The only fault I could find with this dish is the sauce was too delicate for the veal, but this could be a person preferance as I prefer distinct sauces as one would find with marsala or piccata. Which by the way, they did offer to make Veal Piccata even though it was not found on the menu.\r \r We finished the meal with Amaretto Cheesecake. I must say, I found its taste more like a Grand Mariner cheesecake I had once tried, with undertones of orange and lemon. The consistency was very good, but I was expecting a more almond taste.\r \r In summary, there was nothing so wrong that I would not recommend this lovely establishment to others. The only thing I would say is for couples to ask to be seated in either the porch or main dining area.. And to ditch the cheap breadsticks! Pros: Friendly staff, generous portions, atmosphere, parking Cons: Please read review.... more

Fresh Ingredients makes for the best Italian food in Dallas 12/31/2009

My husband and I met here and have been dining at Pietro's Italian Restaurant for 30 years. When we have a special occasion, it happens either at Pietro's or Celebration Restaurant. which are our favorite Dallas Restaurants. Consistent menu items properly prepared, exquisite reduction sauces (try the Chicken Marsala, garlic and evoo on the side of spaghetti, which it comes with). I had chicken Marsala at Bucca's and it tasted like it had maple syrup on it (ugh). You can expect your favorites to be consistently prepared and outstanding every time. Pros: Diverse menu, authentic Italian, friendly staff and owners more

BEST SCILIAN FOOD IN DALLAS!! 11/17/2009

I'm 35 and my brother is 39, and my parents have been eating there for 40 years. We eat there for ALL special occasions. No restaurant's menu is perfect, not everything is excellent, but this place is as close as it gets. I do know that the Meatball pizza is the greatest thing that I have ever put in my mouth, and the eggplant parmesan is the BEST!!! It traditional, baked, not fried like most dumb Italian restaurants do. Baked in it's own dish. Moist and cheesy. It's the real deal. Also, their cannoli's are the best in Dallas. Hands down the best Italian restaurant in Dallas!! Pros: The Owner, Pietero, short old Itialian!! Cons: None! more

Loved it Loved it Loved it! 11/14/2009

My wife and I and couple of friends visited this place for the first time on the suggestion of someone else and we really enjoyed it. Calamari was excellent, all of our main dishes were great(lasagna, chicken alfredo and sausage and peppers) and we all absolutely agreed the best garlic bread we ever had! Also to top it off beer was ice cold. Pros: Great atmosphere more

Best Italian in Dallas 5/16/2009

Everything I have ever eaten at Pietro's has been spectacular which says a lot since my family has been going there for about 20 years. Gracie's meatballs are the best! The meatball pizza is incredible as is the caesar salad, garlic cheese bread, fried provolone, spumoni, and my favorite the chicken varinelli! The atmosphere is perfect, very comfortable. Staff is mostly family and family friends. Say hi to Pete! Pros: the family and the food! more

Pietro's is awesome 2/13/2009

So i searched for this restaurant on google after my friends told me how good it was and got city search. Read the reviews and decided what the hell, I'll give it a try. Phenomenal, the food was what i expected, really flavorful old school Italian. Got the Caesar salad, I have not had anything like that ever, very flavorful and puts any restaurant's dressing to shame. My girlfriend and I also really love calamari, so we ordered it. Lightly battered with a marinara sauce for dipping, simply awesome. I ordered chicken marsala and she ordered veal champagne, as the waiter suggested, and both were delicious. I have had chicken marsala before at other restaurants, but have to say, this is the best that i have ever had. While i have not had many veal dishes before, I tried my girlfriend's dish and it was awesome. They also came with a small pasta dish on the side with their spaghetti sauce on it that rocked. Definitely recommend this restaurant to people. Pros: right on Greenville, parking easy more

All Good! 5/25/2008

Good thin crust pizza. Im sure everything else is good as well. Service and price is good as well. Nothing to special of the atmosphere other than the Old Itailan Guy who I guess is Pierto and the wine list. Cool family owned Itailan place for a casual dining experience or take out. Pros: Food, Service, Wine, Value more

The best authentic Italian food in Dallas 5/14/2008

The negative reviews on here are fake, probably done by competitors. We have been regulars at Pietro's for over 20 years, have celebrated birthdays, anniversary's and will be there for another this Saturday & we will be coming all the way from Southlake! I have traveled all over the world and enjoy dining, and the Veal Franciase at ""Pete's"" is one of a kind. The family lives upstairs, and the charm just jumps out at you. If you haven't tried the cream of vegetable soup, the garlic crab claws in lemon butter, the sauted artichoke hearts or the many other dishes, you are missing out on something amazing. If you can get Pietro to make his incredible flaming Chicken Fra Diavola, you will be a devotee for life...Don't miss out on a chance to experience one of Dallas's most originat Italian places... Pros: Original, authentic Italian Cons: Too far from home! more

They should be ashamed to call this Italian food 3/26/2008

Some of the worst Italian food I have ever had. We had Italian Sausage/Pasta and Baked Ziti, salad with oil and vinegar and garlic bread. The sausage was mealy, and had no flavor and no fennel. They need to change meat suppliers or get it locally. The pasta was undercooked. The salad had oil & vinegar only. No tomatoes or onion. But the worst was the sauce. It was way too spicy, overladened with a hot, peppery seasoning, like mexican or chinese food. It was not edible. The same peppery flavor was also in the baked ziti. It was way too spicy hot, and not tasty at all. It tasted more like mexican than italian. Perhaps the owner should get a new cook or cookbook, as this cannot be called Italian. Oh, I almost forgot the garlic bread. It was soggy, and I didn't have much garlic on it. The only saving grace was the server, who was very cordial and attentive. If you want real, good Italian food, don't go here. Pros: Waiter was frindly Cons: Food did not taste Italian more

What's Italian without GARLIC! 2/18/2008

I just wanted to make a correction to the previous review made about this restaurant. The pizza has always been awesome. The homemade Caesar dressing is always great, full of flavor with the right amount of tanginess. Pizza without garlic, you are obviously not a connoisseur of Italian, garlic is the essence of the food, practically. I would just like to keep positive reviews of Pietro's. This family owned and operated restaurant has been a fave of mine for many years as are the smiles behind it. The chef is great! I will recommend this restaurant as well as the diablo pollo. more

Beware, beware, beware 2/1/2008

Based on the reviews I read, I decided to try Pietro's. Initial impressions were good: quaint restaurant, old man Pietro making the Caesar salads, and the charming wait staff reciting an incredible list of specials. I ordered a caesar salad, a bottle of wine, and a pizza with my ususal ingredients: pepperoni, italian saugage, onions, mushrooms. and green olives. The bottle of wine I recieved was tasty and relatively inexpensive. The caesear salad, however, was not. The lettuce was brown and the dressing had no flavor. But, the salad pales in comparisson to the pizza. Pietro himself made my pizza. In addition the the ingredients that I ordered, he smothered the pizza with fresh garlic. When confronted, he admitted to putting a lot of garlic on the pizza and refused to replace it with one as ordered.\r \r Bottom line, beware of the casar salad, the garlic pizza, and the jack*** ornery owner. Drive the extra mile over to Louie's or Fireside Pies -- Worst Pizza in Dallas! Pros: Parking, waitstaff Cons: food, owner more

The bad reviews are bogus. 1/23/2008

My husband and I frequent Pietro's on our nights out. Pietro is always up front to greet us with a smile and the food is AWESOME. Trying the chicken tetrazinni is a must. As is the fettucinni alfredo. The pasta is hand made. 5 stars all the way around!!! Pros: Cozy atmosphere, great lighting, romantic more

Best Italian Food! 12/3/2007

I just found this place with a few friends last weekend. It is great! They stayed open after they had closed the kitchen so that we could have some take-out. We had the awesome calamari, the beef cannelloni, a seafood dish and sausage pizza. The pasta was fresh, the sausage was homemade and everything was so good! We've decided that we HAVE to go back! Pros: Food, history, service Cons: None that I have found more

box pasta, low grade meat and canned pasta sauce 11/18/2007

My husband and I visited because of the rave reviews we read here. However, it was the biggest waste or money and a meal. The food was extremely low grade, not properly prepared and even the garlic bread was bland. My husband had veal that was not cooked well and and cut wrong (much too thick). The salad was brown and had bottle Kraft ranch dressing. The girl next to us even had to send back her eggplant because it was ""silly"". I would not recommend a trip here. Pros: prompt service Cons: dirty bathroom, tasteless and low quality food more

Great Italian Food 1/26/2007

This is one of my favorite Italian dining experiences. The ambience is great, and the food is from the old family style kitchen. The price is great. The service is very good. This is one experience you will enjoy if you are an Italian food lover. Pros: Food, Service, Ambience more

LOVE THIS PLACE! 6/25/2004

This is one of my favorite DALLAS restaurants. My husband's family had been going here for over 20 years when I met him. We now have our own children and drive 45 minutes to eat here. The spaghetti sauce is ""unique"". It taste sooo good on the pizzas and spaghetti. But my favorite is the meatballs. You must have one when you go! Go tonight! It will be well worth it. more
