Best

It was a rainy day when we stopped here. Looked like a nice place to rest up a bit. We had the fish and chips and they were simply divine. Perfect food for a blustery day.

Worst

Where should you take out of town guests for fish and good clam chowder sourdough bowls? Not here! This place is over crowded, hot, expensive, bad service, and not that great food...

Really great food 11/17/2010

This is one of the best places we ate on our trip to San Francisco. The clam chowder was simply divine (My wife actually ordered that) I had the fish and chips and loved it. This is a great place to go and eat. I highly recommend it. more

Best Clam Chowder 8/11/2010

I ate at Pier Market on a recent trip to Pier 39 and had a great time. The waitress was nice and the clam chowder was D-licious! My dad loved his salmon burger and my sister said the the fish and chips were the best she'd ever had. We'll be back. more

Bad Service, OK Food 7/23/2010

Where should you take out of town guests for fish and good clam chowder sourdough bowls? Not here! This place is over crowded, hot, expensive, bad service, and not that great food. Ok, maybe I'm being a little harsh. The food was pretty good, but I've definitely had better. I think I may have had a bad taste in my mouth from the horrible service. Two of the 3 bread bowls our table ordered were set in front of us (and touched) when the waitress ran back because she realized they were for a different table. GROSS!! I wonder how many people touched my bread bowl before I got it. I would possibly come back to this restaurant on a weekday evening when it might not be so crowded. But probably not. :( Go to Boudins! It will be crowded, but at least the food is fresh and hot! Pros: back seating has nice view of the harbor Cons: pricey, crowded, bad service more

Seafood on the pier 7/20/2010

I've been to this restaurant a few times when I venture down to Pier 39. It's not bad, but it's also not the best. The crab cake sandwich is pretty good, and their garlic fries with parmesan cheese are great, but as for seafood, there's much better out there. It's also a bit pricey. Pros: decent food, good views Cons: expensive, crowded with tourists more

Fresh Seafood 7/5/2010

We went here on the 4th of July. The place was packed. We waited about 30 minutes for our table. I thought due to the amount of people that it was going to be a long meal. I was very wrong.our server was excellent. I think his name was Brian? I had the salmon, my wife had chowder in sourdough and my son had fish and chips. The food came out fast and was very good. The staff was all working together. I highly recommend this place if you are in the area. Pros: Fresh fish, fast service more

Good Experience 10/6/2009

Five us of visited on a Monday evening about 8:00. Our server was very friendly and attentive, as was the rest of the wait staff. I ordered the bowl of Clam Chowder and the appetizer Crab Cakes. The chowder was thick and creamy with a good amount of clams. The crab cakes were predominantly crab meat and browned well; a crispy crust on the outside. There were two cakes; each about 2" in diameter. My husband ordered the Shrimp Carbonara. It was not at all like a traditional carbonara; more like a primavera. There were no peas or cream sauce; the dish mainly consisted of shrimp, linguine, tons of zucchini and a couple of pieces of broccoli and and carrots with a sprinkling of bacon. We questioned the server about the dish; they did replace his dish without the zucchini as he does not like it. I don't believe pasta is a strong point of the restaurant; stick to the fish. Pros: Great Atmosphere, Good Service Cons: Misrepresented Menu Item more

Not a Clean Restaurant 5/17/2008

My husband & I went to this restaurant today thinking we'd have a nice meal. We were seated outside which was find because the weather was nice. When we first sat down I noticed old ketchup (from earlier in the day) still stuck on the table. Then I noticed that my knife was dirty and that there was hair (and not mine) on the table. Obviously they didnt take the time to wipe the table off before seating us, hence the ketchup & hair. At any rate we ordered some food and while we were waiting for our food the waitress brought out some house bread. The bread was brought out in a bread bowl with a fabric napkin covering it. Immediately I saw that the fabric napkin looked like it had recently been used and not cleaned! There were recent ketchup stains and other food stains on the napkin. I told the waitress that we would not be eating at the restaurant and I pointed out the napkin to her. She said, "I'm sorry, we've just been really busy today and we dont have time to do everything." This is completely unacceptable and I encourage you not to eat here unless they're not busy, because maybe then they'll have time to clean the tables and napkins. Pros: N/A Cons: Not a clean establishment more

Too Expensive, Not Fresh Food 11/9/2006

Food is no good based on their price. Our server does not know what is "service". Maybe he was unhappy because we did not order any drinks or appetizers? Food was all prepared ahead of time. Therefore, our plates were brought 3 minutes after we ordered. Nobody refilled our waters. We had to wait 15 minutes to get a bill after we eat. If you do not have much time to spend, maybe this is the good place, if you do not mind to pay more than $70 for three adults and two children with kids meals. If they charge this price range, they can serve better food and service. Pros: Pier 39, if you are tourists Cons: Pier 39, if you are locals, POOR service more
