I have been going to Elena at Piel Skin Care for about three years. Elena made me feel comfortable and safe, which is very important when one is getting a Brazilian Wax. The environment is so relaxing, that I have fallen asleep many times: even when I was getting a Brazilian Wax. Elena will schedule your appointments at time that best suits you. I found Piel on citysearch a little over a year ago, after having numerous NEGATIVE waxing experiences at various spa/salons around the area. Thank goodness I gave Piel a chance! The place itself is seriously like a little utopia. You walk in and are completely consumed by tranquility and relaxation. Aromatherapy wafts through the air, the melodic sounds of a bubbling brook paired with the relaxing yoga-esque music put you in a sort of trance. Upon arrival you are offered tea or water infused with mint and citrus (delicious!) and then you're quickly ushered into a private room to get all your services taken care of. The waxing is amazing -- you are made to feel so comfortable and at ease, and it's truly the least-painful waxing I have ever experienced, I will never go anywhere else. In addition to everything else they have a vast array of skin products (I recommend biomedics) and a very knowledgeable staff! I Highly Recommend Piel, I've already referred all my roommates there, and I recommend it for anyone looking for a Pleasant waxing experience! (I also hear the facials are out of this world). I was looking for a new place for waxing when I came across the listing for Piel on CitySearch - based on everyone else's glowing recommendations, I made an appointment. I was VERY pleased with the service - it was all the good things the other reviews noted. The owner came in just for me on a day they're normally closed, she was very friendly and professional, and best of all, it was about as painless as a waxing can be! While the building Piel is in could use a little love, their space is bright and clean and very relaxing (plus, it makes Piel seem that much more like the hidden treasure it is). Don't let the tired decor of their building fool you--Piel is an excellent choice for a bikini wax. Yes, the building that houses Piel is old and in need of some TLC, but Piel's suite is bright, peaceful and clean. They have a great shop, lovely decor and a soothing fountain. I don't know, I had one of the facials and it really wasnt worth the price. Hardly any extractions were done which is what a lot of people get facials specifically for, I'm talking four or five minutes spent on extractions. Pros: cute inside, lots of products etc to buy Cons: not really the best job at facials. more

After my first brazilian at Piel, I was hooked. It was a quick and painless experience in a relaxing setting with reasonable prices. And the location can't be better, right in the heart of BH. I have been getting brazillians for years and just figured brazillian waxing fell into the ""beauty is pain"" category...however the first time i went to elena for a wax i walked out feeling amazing...the wax is virtually painless and she is very thorough...she provides an extremely comfortable and professional environment...she is very reasonably priced and is accomodating with scheduling appointments...i have been going to only her for about a year now and wouldn't go anywhere else...she is the best around! I was lucky enough to fall upon Piel right when it opened, and I don't think my skin's ever been so lucky. Every time I get a facial, Elena brews up something spectacular that leaves my skin feeling baby soft and usually within a week, any acne I had has completely dissappeared. The spa is GORGEOUS and a wonderfully relaxing place to spend my time. About a year ago, I inquired about Brazillian (I had my LEGS waxed once before, and it was so painful, i never even CONSIDERED brazillian) but after Elena got to it, I've never gone back! Trust me, Piel is a place you want to go. On top of being totally satisfied with my services, the girls there are all really sweet. My once a month visit is always a pleasure. Piel is great!!! I always look forward to my appointment with Elena, she's up on the latest products and skin care technology. I have a facial once a month and find my skin is much more healthy because of it. I've also purchased a few skin care products (cleanser and moisturizer) from their BioElements collection that leave my skin feeling tingly clean and glowing. \r \r Overall, it truly proves to be the most relaxing experience. Included with the facial is an out-of-this-world hand massage. Soft music plays, delicious aroma permeates the room. It's definitely something I look forward to doing on a regular basis, a true present to myself. \r \r Elena is truly a skin care expert and I feel very comfortable each time I go. I found Piel Skin Care through LA City search. I've been coming here for about a year and a half and the experience is always wonderful. The owner caters to your every need and she will do her best to get you in last minute. I come here consistently every 6-7 weeks to get a Brazillian wax and the results always exceed my expectations. She ensures that every little hair is removed as painless as possible. Also, she tells you how to avoid those nasty little in grown hairs. Ladies, if your afraid of getting fully waxed have no fear, this is the BEST Spa in town to get the job done right. The salon uses top quality products and the staff is fully knowledgable with the products that they sell. I always leave purchasing some type of great product. I say BEST because it was quick and painless. I really mean it when I say painless... I'm a huge baby! I'm used to being close to passing out on the table at many of the other places. My husband loves it when I get waxed but, because of the immense pain level, I don't do it often. However, that is all about to change because Elena is a genious with the wax. \r I've had ""hard"" AND ""soft"" wax before but, from another esthetician. It was still somewhat painful so, I can now honestly say that it is perhaps Elena's technique. She attributes the painlessness to the wax... I think it might be a combination of both.\r I used to dread getting my wax. Ok. So... I'm a man... I wanted a full backside and brazillian waxing. Not the most common thing. This could have been an extremely awkward and embarrassing situation but the wonderful people at Piel made it professional, relaxed, and assured me I wasn't the first man requesting this service. The best thing I've ever done for myself (and my partner!)!!! Elena was amazing. She was incredible! And trust me she had her work cut out for her but she worked her magic quick and very painless. I repeat...the waxing was virtually painless even in the most sensitive areas. She used a combination of the hard wax and the soft wax. I'm extremely happy with the entire experience. It was also affordable. I am going back in a month to have my touch up and I'm looking forward to it! Thanks Elena!!! Prompted by the other reviews on this site, I went to Piel Skin Care a few weeks ago for an amazing Brazilian bikini wax from Elena. Elena was professional, calm, thorough, pleasant, and very skilled at waxing! I had been used to pretty painful from waxes at other salons, so I was really overjoyed that the Brazilian from Elena was so comfortable (and I'm a newbie to Brazilians) and honestly not much worse than getting an eyebrow wax at another place. The hard wax she uses is really great, and she's efficient and clearly experienced at minimizing discomfort for her clients. You get 20% off your first visit, and I really believe that it's worth any extra penny for the waxing experience at Piel. Elena was also very flexible with scheduling my appointment and accomodating when I was a few minutes late. (There's a free parking lot right across the street, and you will need it in that area.) On Saturday, my friend and I went to Piel skin care for their ""Day at the Spa"" package. It was one of the best spa experiences of my life. The treatments were wonderful and very professional. I recently had a back waxing at Pial, and Elena was great. Very friendly, yet professional. The wax didn;t irritate my sensitive skin, and the soothing powder she put on afterwards left my back feeling clean, soft, and, of course, smooth! My friend suggested I try Piel for my next brazilian and it was a surprisingly pleasant experience.
