Speechless 12/11/2011

I am a mixed women with tight curly hair that is also very thick. I asked my stylist what she would suggest if having layers could help not make my hair so thick. Well she cut my hair telling me she was going to take out some of the bulk and she took out at least 40% of my thickness now i can barely put my hair in a ponytail it looks very stringy and i just don't know how else i can describe how i feel i'm very upset and not happy with the results at all. I want to call and ask for my money back. more

Disappointed.... 10/5/2011

So, I had made an appointment at Phresh for an all over color. I was a blonde at the time and wanted to change to a medium brown/reddish for the Fall, which i have been doing every season for a few years now. I was so looking forward to changing my hair and trying a new hair color by adding some red in my hair this time around. My consultant barely talked to me & i was very surprised to find out that she did not speak English well. To me, this was concerning because communication was tough between us while I was trying to explain to her what color I wanted my hair to be, even after providing her with pictures. My hair ended up being an extremely dark brown, almost black, color with very deep red roots and ashy brown ends. The color was not even and I was very disappointed :( When it came time to style my hair, she did not ask me how i wanted it styled or how i wore my part, which is to the side. She just parted it in the middle and dried it stick straight. Two days later, I made an appointment to come back and have my hair color corrected. The new consultant I had this time around was amazing :) she was super sweet and really made me feel like she wanted to correct my hair color and give me what i was wanting! However, again I unfortunately left disappointed. My hair is now a bright ""carrot orange"" color :( She attempted to lighten my hair in order to remove the dark brown and then re-dye it so there was more of an even amount of brown and red. Well, it is basically all an orange-ish color now with barely any hint of brown. Although I have gotten compliments on how my hair is now, it is still not the color for me & not what i wanted in the first place. Overall, the service at this salon was good in the sense that all the girls are very friendly and everything, except for my first consultant, and the atmosphere is great :) I was just very disappointed in my first visit with both the service of my consultant and her coloring my hair and very happy with the service of my consultant the second time but still not the coloring of my hair :( more

Great place! 9/8/2010

I have only ever gotten haircut and once I got a full foil at phresh. I love that they have OPI products and the stylist recommended the davines 'love' product for my hair. Everyone is very friendly and they got out of their way to make sure you're comfortable. more

customer service 7/24/2010

I had a great pedicure at phresh when I first moved to the area. I really loved the building and the front desk staff was great so I decided to schedule my next tint and cut. I was really nervous seeing someone that I hadn't had a personal referal to but I did it anyway. It turns out that the person I saw and I a spoke completely different hair language!! It wasn't at all what I had expected, I got up the nerv to go back in for a corrective color, The entire staff whent out of their way to make me comfortable and two hours later I had the hair of my dreams! Thank you Phresh for rectifying the situation! I will be back in August. Pros: Great customer service, beautiful building! Cons: Dani doesn't work every day of the week and parking. more

phresh is amazing! 7/7/2010

I have been coming to phresh since it opened. I went to the salon before it when it was called jasmine and it has changed so much for the better. The staff is consistently in great moods and my services are always what i asked for and more. I must admit I was an aveda junkie for years but the products they offer have caught my eye and I think i'm in love. I never had a usual stylist until i met dani. She is so funny and is always up for changing my look and will tell me when it wont look good. i suck at doing my own hair and she has taught me to do the poof. I love seeing her and previously saw megan and dani recommended miranda and those two are the perfect pair for me. everyone is always having so much fun and the girl she works next to and her clients are always making convo with us. This is the perfect balance of feeling great, having fun, and being great what they do. thank you for getting it right! Pros: friendly, in the heart of the city Cons: only one location more

Horrible experience, will not be back! 7/4/2010

I went to Phresh for my first time to get my color done. It turned out horrid. I don't even want to discuss it.\r The parking was out of control. The salon/spa is in a good location because its a busy area in general but the parking is ridiculous.\r Another bad part was the staff, they bug you and bug you constantly. I just wanted to say ""LEAVE ME ALONE, I'M TRYING TO RELAX""!!!\r I went to Phresh because I saw good reviews online, all the reviews must be from employees or friends of employees, trying to make this place seem heavenly....because it was far from that.\r I will not recommend Phresh to anyone that I know.\r Still looking for a salon that I want to go to every 6 weeks for my color! Why is it so hard? Pros: Busy area for business Cons: Hair color received, parking, staff more

love it! 3/22/2010

I have what I call ""haircut anxiety"". typically I avoid getting my hair cut for months and months because I hate it so much. ...and then I found Phresh! Sue cut my hair, and the whole experience was outstanding. she clearly knows exactly what she is doing, and truly listened to what I was looking for from my haircut. their friendly staff, excellent service, and VERY reasonable price scale have most certainly made a loyal customer out of me! I plan to refer all my girls! :) more

I would drive an hour if I had to... 2/20/2010

Luckily I live close to Phresh, but if I ever move out of the neighborhood, I would drive as long as I had to in order to keep my relationship with this salon. There are just so many awesome things about Phresh, but I think the best thing is that my stylist, Dani, possesses the skill and the talent needed to deal with a client like me. I like to change my look frequently and rarely keep the same style/color/cut for longer than a few months. In the past three years I have gone from long to short, one length to layered, no bangs to blunt and then sideswept, and from light brown to chocolate brown and then blonde (really). If Dani ever has a question about how to lift my color (essentially doing a major color correction), she consults with one of the many other talented colorists at Phresh. She is flexible and always up for what I throw at her (even when it was the 6:45am appointment for my wedding). From what I have experienced, Tracy & Rick only hire the best. I have ALWAYS left feeling confident, rejuvenated, and knowing that I look fantastic. I've been a customer from the beginning and am impressed with the high quality, the warm atmosphere, and the consistency in staff and service. Pros: Service, style more

Consistently Great Service 11/17/2009

When I moved to MN last summer, two people recommended Phresh Salon to me. I've been back 5 or 6 times now. Each time I've gone I've had consistently excellent customer service and my stylist has been amazing. My sister decided to visit me and the staff were able to fit her in with my stylist on short notice just to get some wedding hair ideas and snap pictures. They have very convenient online booking and a rewards program that gets you products for repeated visits. Everyone has been exceptionally professional and I've had a great time with every visit. It's been my favorite salon in 13 years. Pros: Customer Service, Location, Staff Knowledge more

Great Staff, Cozy atmosphere 5/2/2009

This place is great! I would recommend it to anyone. The prices are reasonable and it is conveniently located on Grand Ave. The salon has a very cozy feel. The staff really care about making sure you get what you want. When I first went in to lighten my hair, it ended up getting a little lighter than I had wanted it. The stylist took the extra time to fix it and didn't charge for any extra work. Every time I have gone back I have had consistently excellent results. Pros: everyone cares about doing a great job more

Didn't look better when I walked out the door 4/24/2009

When I made my appointment they did not mention that the person cutting my hair and doing my manicure, was an apprentice. She was a very nice girl, but cut off more hair than I had asked her to cut and didn't add any layers like I had also asked for. She used a brush while she dried my hair but then didn't style or curl it after that. The same girl did my nails. I asked for a french manicure, which she told me was an extra $10. I was fine with that, still hoping it would be done well. She didn't shape my nails with any uniformity and followed my existing white nail part for the french manicure. I actually had a friend ask me if I had done my nails myself! Glad I paid $35 for that. The atmosphere of the place was nice and everything seemed to be done well until I actually looked at the end products. Also because I had an apprentice, I had to fill out a little survey when I left, but was handed it right in front of the girl and felt very uncomfortable filling it out accurately. I don't think I'll be going back! Pros: nice salon more

Amazing massage! 4/20/2009

Dominique performed my massage like a true artist! Best massage I've ever received! Pros: Example: best croissants in town Cons: What are the drawbacks? more

Phresh is a beautiful, refreshing salon where it is obvious that excellence is important in all that they do 2/2/2009

I have had a number of services at Phresh Salon. It is beautiful, relaxing and obviously loved by it's owners and staff. My cut and color by Tracy and Dani are the best I have had in many years. I get as many compliments on my hair a week before my next appointment as I do 2 days after I get it done. That is rare! I am disabled and I find Phresh to be one of the kindest and most accommodating places that I have been. The front desk is handled with so much professionalism, but more than that, a sense of warmth and family that you do not find elsewhere. I would recommend Phresh to anyone. I love it there and always look forward to any opportunity to return. The facial that I had by Jessica was amazing. She knows her stuff and shares it with you without feeling like she is pushing product. She incorporates massage into the experience, I could have stayed on that table for hours. Once again, they get my very highest recommendation. Pros: The entire experience is a pro. Cons: none that I know of... more

Trendy and Eco-friendly Getaway 2/1/2009

As a self-admitted Aveda junkie, I always frequent salons that use its product line. I had an urge to try something new in December and booked an appointment at phresh. The family-owned salon is welcoming, trendy and eco-friendly in design and offers a variety of natural products, including the Davines hair care line. My stylist was very talented. My fine hair has never had so much volume! Better yet, all newbies get 25 percent off their first service. I recently referred a friend and received an additional discount off my next service. I?ll certainly be back again soon. more

Some Peace & Quiet on Grand Avenue 1/14/2009

Among the hustle and bustle of Grand Avenue sits phresh spa salon. With a variety of services at your fingertips, this is truly a place to come and relax. I was tired of going to the typical salon where you have to fight your way through the retail space just to check in for an appointment and phresh was just what I needed. It has a welcoming reception area and friendly employees who don?t push products on you.\r \r I regularly get my hair cut and colored with Mayu and she always does just what I request. From time to time I get facials with Jessica (highly informative), massages with Suzie (therapeutic) and Christen (relaxing), and waxes with Megan. I always keep my eyes open for special offers at phresh so I can get the most value for my money! You can also get discounts if you refer a first time customer and collect points for booking online.\r \r I highly recommend phresh and even got my husband to start getting regular haircuts! Pros: Service, Friendly Staff, Great Atmosphere Cons: Parking more

phresh, a great local family owned salon experience 1/14/2009

One thing I love about phresh, besides the great building and personnel, is the family owned spirit of the salon. The owners are truly out to give you a great experience and it shows with commitment to their customers and their willingness to work through unexpected problems. They also throw many special events such as customer appreciation days and fashion shows which utilize local business relationships and make for a great time.\r \r I have always had great experiences at phresh weather it be a massage with Suzie, haircut with Jen, or facial with Megan. My wife also enjoys regular haircuts, hair colors, massages, facials, and the overall environment at phresh. Plus, the location gives us an excuse to be on historic Grand Avenue and take in the culture that surrounds the area. For a unique salon experience, check out phresh!\r \r Pros: Great service, local family owned, great environment Cons: Only one location so far more

Sophisticated atmosphere, talent, and management 1/13/2009

I have had services done at least 6 times in the past year and have yet to have a bad experience. I have had my make-up done 2 times, my mother's make-up 1 time, 2 hair cuts & colors, nails, mini-peals, and massage. Excellent across the board! I'm a Presh customer for life! Pros: Ambience, service, pricing Cons: Parking more

As a loyal employee to Phresh I feel stongly recommending this salon 1/13/2009

Being a hairstylist for 7 years I have worked in all types of salons and before doing hair I was a waitress. Working with people for so long has given me the attitude that every person matters. Every single day our clients compliment the front desks fabulous personality, the commerodery of employees, awesome decor personaized by Rick and Tracy, and the willingness of employees to accomadate guests. We have recently employed 2 apprentice's with our guidence will be doing services at a discounted rate. These girls are very talented as we are quite picky on who we hire here at phresh. They will require extra ongoing \r training as they are recently out of school. As they still give a great service you should know that they are discounted because they are in a training program. We have three levels of stylists all based on exprerience. Comming from EQ Life I have a pretty steady clinetele. Many times a client cannont get in with me if i'm booked, out of town, or would like a lower price range and every single one has been satisfied!! I am so confident in my fellow stlyists that we share clients. People that see me also see other stylists and vise versa. It's so comfortable to be in here!! You should never feel awkward seeing a different technician no matter what the reason! We may not always click but you love phresh so please come back and see someone else!! I am so proud to work here, we are taken care of tremendously and I love love love my co workers!! If you have been here you know we have fantastic services, music, fun events, and great people employed. We look forward to seeing you here!! Pros: You can tell everyone enjoys working here, located on grand ave, non commissioned providers, family owned and operated, and full service spa Cons: nada :) more

PHresh Salon Spa A must Try! 1/9/2009

I had a hot stone massasge and haircut today at PHresh salon spa on Beautiful Grand Avenue in Saint Paul, MN. The staff are very friendly and from the moment you walk in the door you feel welcomed. I have experienced numerous services and have found that the family owned PHresh salon takes great pride in hiring, educating, and providing the best service with the best products around. I absolutely love being able to experience all that luxury has to offer without being uptight. I highly recommend PHresh to anyone truly looking for personalized customer service backed by quality products you can trust. Pros: Excellent customer service, amazing products, great location, highly skilled technicians, family owned Cons: I have found none more

Would not recommend Phresh Spa Salon 1/5/2009

I was excited for a change and made an appointment at the Phresh Spa salon today for both highlights and cut my hair. I stated I would like to ""lighten"" my hair upon arrival. However, the stylist (who was very sweet, but apparently has not had much training) went over and over how she would like to put in low lights. I initially said no, but finally said, O.K, as long as my hair was ""lightened"". Unfortunately, my hair was darkened instead (confirmed by husband and friends who stated ""oh, so you decided to darkened your hair?""). But, this wasn?t the worst part. She then demolished the hair cut. Even with help of a more experienced personal, she could not follow suggestions - the haircut was horrendous. I finally asked her to stop after she cut the layers too short and then tried using thinning shears to thin out the top layers to make it look better, but instead kept thinning the bottom layers-even after I asked her to stop! She cut my hair two inches shorter than we agreed and it is so thin on the bottom it looks like my hair has fallen out (and I have thick hair!).\r I have sent the salon a recommendation that they have someone with more experience assist those who are less experienced in their role at least initially until you can verify their abilities. As I do not blame the stylist, as she was very sweet and appeared to really be trying to do a great job. This is a system issue, the girl was just lacking in training and experience.\r Otherwise, I thought the location and establishment was very cute; I just could not recommend the salon and will warn others of this experience until I know this issue has been rectified. Pros: Cute establishment and atmosphere Cons: Untrained personal, you will not want to show your face in public after a hair cut! more
