This is THE massage school in Houston... don't look anymore 10/19/2011

After looking for a while, I found Phoenix School of Holistic massage and decided that it was going to be my school. I like the program, it is very complete and they have a great intern program which helped me to complete the 50 hours required by the state. It was a great way to get an excellent education and also it was fun. I will recommend Phoenix to anybody that is looking for a great massage school in Houston. more

Best Massage Value in Houston 10/19/2011

I started going to Phoenix School of Massage earlier this year when I started an intense Boot Camp exercise program 5-6 days a week. We work out an hour a day starting at 5 am, with only two 30 second breaks, so we get very sore. I found them through Groupon with an introductory offer for a 90 minute massage for $40. There was some initial confusion as the therapist who was supposed to work with me had car problems. However, the owner, William set me up with a different therapist and I enjoyed a great hot stone massage. I like to work with the same therapist, as after a couple of massages, they get to know your sore spots, what kind of pressure you like, and I don't like to spend my hour in conversation, rather I prefer to relax in peace. I have now worked with three different therapists at Phoenix, as they graduate and move on to their professional careers, but I can vouch that the techniques taught at Phoenix are first-class. Having dated a licensed massage therapist in the past and from someone who has had more than 100 massages, these folks will make you feel great and leave you invigorated without making a hole in your wallet. They offer good discounts on multiple massages, so I have a standing weekly appointment with my therapist. I would highly recommend Phoenix to anyone who is looking for quality massage and wants to spend about half of going to an LMT. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed! more

EXTREMELY UNORGANIZED N OUTDATED! 6/22/2011

Very unorganized with student information and everything else. Loses information often. Counts missed hrs down to minute by HAND!. everythings by hand. Regular students work in office and access to other student's info. No one ever answers office phone even during office hrs. Owner cant keep employees to work for him. So he tries to run a whole school and multiple classes alone. All while answering his phone during class and scheduling walk-ins. I hav no clue how this school has stayed open this long! The class hrs are good if u wrk, but thats about it! im jus praying it doesnt get shut down b4 i graduate! iM FRUSTRATED AND IRRITATED ON A DAILY BASIS. No one knos wats goin on. And nuthing makes sense. but owner will act like everythings perfect when its not. TERRIFIED OF LOSING $5K!!!!!!!!!!!!! And i wish sumone would hav warned me! more

Terrible School! 2/25/2011

And I don't mean it is a terrible school in the sense that 'the work was too hard' or 'the teachers expected too much work in too short of a time period'. I mean it was a terrible school in the sense that from the moment I walked in I was confused and infuriated. I don't even know where to start. The owner has literally lost his mind; he spends class time trying to get us to dance with him and 'get our lymphatic system going'. You have to copy ALL your records yourself and keep them with you or else your make-up hours, your grades, your intern massage records (AND YOU NEED THOSE TO GRADUATE!!) can get LOST!! They give outdated tests with incorrect information on it (don't worry, they give you the answers to the wrong questions before the test...literally). The school appears to be failing money-wise, and the owner will have to teach the class instead of the teacher because he can't afford to pay them. He gives horrible lectures and worse test reviews (once he refused to review for a test because he thought 'students were laughing at him'). I've heard teachers AND students make threats to talk to the State about shutting him down, now I have to worry that I even have time to graduate! I'm terrified and I regret coming here. Don't waste 5 grand here. And by the way, you can decide for yourself which of the other reviews about the school were written by the owner himself.... I've never heard another student there EVER talk good about this place. more

Look No Further 3/5/2010

Attending the Phoenix School of Massage was one of the best decisions of my life. The director, William Barry, is accomplished and extremely knowledgeable, and never hesitated to provide support and assistance to all of his students. He and the other instructors gave the students the tools necessary to be well rounded and well educated massage therapists. I graduated with a sense of self assurance in my skills and my ability to help others, not only as a massage therapist but as a passionate student of health and well being. The most important lesson I learned is: what I put in to my work is what I, as well as my clients, will yield. And my clients appreciate the 100% effort that I give every time. I recently passed the National Certification Exam and I am on the way to becoming a licensed massage therapist all thanks to Phoenix the great people who devote their lives to seeing the students achieve professional success. Pros: free massages :) more

Massage With Holistic Approach 2/22/2010

Its holistic approach sets the Phoenix School of Massage and Holistic Health apart from other massage schools. In addition to our training on the variety Swedish massage techniques, we were made familiar with other holistic body work systems to deepen our understanding. My skill is enhanced by the well-rounded training I received at the Phoenix School of Massage and Holistic Health. I am now a nationally certified massage therapist with license to practice in the state of Texas. The Phoenix School of Massage and Holistic Health have opened great opportunities for me. more

Well worth the investment. Great place to learn 2/16/2010

If you are looking for a place to learn massage therapy, you will not find a better place. I looked around before enrolling at Phoenix School and I am glad I choose Phoenix. I graduated November 2008 and the school helped me land a job. I get so many compliments regarding my massage techniques. Take a few moments to speak with William and you will find Phoenix School is the place to enroll. He was the first to tell me about "Body Mechanics" and the importance of taking care of one's self even before I enrolled at the school. It is more than a massage school, it is an extended family atmosphere. Pros: In depth lessons, teachers without egos!!!!!!!!!! Cons: None more

Great Place to Learn Massage or Get a Massage 12/30/2008

I went to school here, and not only did I learn excellent massage theory and technique, as well as Massage Body Mechanics that make massage seem effortless, but I also experienced a great deal of personal growth as a result of my school experience. It is also a great place to get massage for about half the price of professional massage, as students are required to complete an internship. Houston Press says, "Phoenix Trainess are simply better than anywhere else." more
