Excellent Seafood Restaurant in D.C. 7/24/2005

I went with a reunion group (but we were not on a tour bus!) and we enjoyed excellent service, food and ambience. For the 14.95 buffet lunch, we enjoyed more than 50 seafood and regional dishes, an all-you-can-eat extravaganza. The buffet includes sushi, soft shell crabs, stuffed shrimp, crab cakes, beer-battered lobster with tempura dipping sauce, clam chowder, cream of crab soup, greens, cornbread, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, salmon, perch and cakes and cobblers for dessert. This place USED TO BE a great restaurant. Their frozen items in the grocery stores are still good. BUT, don't go to their restaurants expecting excellent food OR service. It's a shame that a business that the founders worked so hard to build has become a mediocre pig-out buffet place that caters to large tour groups on buses. Mobs of high-school kids will mow you down in their race to the buffet (even if you're only trying to make your way to the restroom). I've had bad experiences on Maine Ave. and at Inner Harbor in Baltimore, including dirty silverware, bad service and long waits to be seated for mediocre food. Pros: lots of food, easy parking Cons: lousy atmosphere, poor value more
