Phillip Gall's is a great place to shop. Most people think of Phillip Gall's as a ski equipment place but it is much more than that. Phillip Gall's carries a great selection of running gear, hiking equipment, kayaking gear, etc. They offer some of the best known brands such as Patagonia and North Face to just name a few. They do not seem to be over priced. The sales staff is very helpful and generally you can find at least one person in the store that is knowledgable in the activity you are looking for. Phillip Galls is the best outdoor sporting goods store in Lexington. The selection is as good as those big box chain stores but the atmosphere and service is much better at Galls. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. They will help you pick the right merchandise for your first camping trip and wont try to sell you stuff you don't need. more

Phillip Gall's is located in beautiful horse country of Lexington, KY. It has an extensive collection of outdoor and travel clothing, including every kind of thermal layer, fleece liner and outer shell you could imagine, for nearly any condition. It has a pretty complete selection of gear for watersports like rafting and kayaking and a complete ski store. I was impressed at the selection of jackets--there was so much choice from brands like Columbia, North Face and Mountain Hardware, in a truly impressive array of sizes. Good selection of outdoor accessories like microlights, compasses, knives, etc. They were running an excellent sale when I was there and I got a great deal on a polartec jacket. On the Columbia two-piece liner/shell jacket I also bought, their price was better than anything I could find during an extensive search of the internet for the same jacket. more
