Will not be going back 2/18/2010

One of the worst haircuts I've ever had... Kristen is highly overrated. She came off a bit arrogant, at times condescending, and did not take criticism very well. My haircut did not feel like a $45 haircut, that's for sure. Could have gotten the same results from Supercuts. The staff (esp. the front desk) was nice and professional though, and I give them props for effort. This place might be the place for you, but I will definitely NOT be going back. more

Your stylist determines your experience 11/22/2008

I used to go to this location regularly. Only once did I make the mistake of going to another location which a new stylist butchered my cut and color. After much complaining, the headquarters allowed me to go to my regular stylist (who is no longer there) to fix everything (which if I had to pay would have been $350). When my regular stylist left, we switched to another one who was equally as good. However, the prices are exorbitantly high--$55 for a man's haircut??? IT'S PITTSBURGH FOR GOD'S SAKE NOT NEW YORK. \r \r What was even more disturbing to learn is that, at the time I was going there, the stylists had no health insurance plan. For as high as this salon's prices are, most had to put their kids on CHIPs. That's right, although you are paying a lot of money, the stylists see very little. This is the same situation that occurs at Wal-Mart but at least the owners have the decency to not gouge the customers. more

It all depends on your stylist... 8/9/2008

So, the first time I went to PP I got this older lady, with an outdated style who blew my wavy hair dry and actually managed to make it frizzier and poofier than I'd ever seen it in my life - but the cut wasn't bad once I styled it myself. A few months later, I needed a cut really badly and they have that Monday or Tuesday special...I thought I'd give it another shot. I got Tina, who spent an hour doing my hair and it was honestly the best cut I'd ever had. Hands down. She left PP shortly thereafter, no idea whereto. So the next time I went, I basically asked for someone young, with her skill level, who was sort of funky and they gave me Erica, who's super cool and really listened to what I wanted. I've found that not all the stylists are awesome, but some really are. And like anywhere you go, you have to be clear about what you want. Pros: It's very clean and they use top notch products. Cons: You have to be very specific and try out different people until you find one that works. more

Much to be desired... 8/16/2007

I made an appointment at the salon to get a blowout and have my hair straigtened (with a flat-iron) for my graduation picture. I was really looking forward to having it professionally done and being pampered...\r My hair is not long (shoulder-length), and this is not a grueling task. The stylist washed my hair, and then began to blow-dry it. After that, she put my hair into sections and began going over it with the flat iron. However, instead of turning the iron under a bit, she pulled the hair straight out, giving me frizz and making my hair stick out awkwardly (like I had put my finger in an electrical socket). Then, she straightened my bangs. She then put TONS of gunky products in my hair. When I put my glasses on and looked in the mirror...I thought my hair looked OK...(I could've done the same at home with more time, I just wanted to get it professionally done for the picture) Then, when I got into the car I realized that my hair looked incredibly greasy from all of the products. My bangs were half-straight and half-not... I was thinking ""I paid THAT much for THIS?"" Needless to say, I was unhappy. The stylist was not friendly (barely spoke), nor were the employees at the front desk. The prices were RIDICULOUS. Save your money and your time. Pros: Location, Interior design of the salon Cons: ...Everything else more

No! No! No! 8/27/2006

I have been in Pittsburgh for about two years, and had heard about this salon. I thought that I would give it a go for this wedding I had coming up. I told her that she could do anything she wanted, just to make sure my hair looked good for this wedding. What did I get...............an awful trim and sent on my way with WET hair, she didn't even dry my hair! She didn't even try to converse with me, sh only spoke to the other stylist there. I am still angry about the way I was treated. If I wanted a chop job I would have done it myself. I go to a salon, because they are supposed to know what they are doing.....not here, don't do it! Pros: Close to home Cons: Everything, but location more

Never again... 9/22/2005

I decided to try Philip Pelusi because I had a formal dinner to go to and they had makeup and hair at the salon. Well I told the lady, ""I want my hair down with curls surrounding"" and she pinned my hair in an upsweep with curls >:-( Tried telling her but she didnt listen, saying this would look better. Being so upset at the result, I was off to makeup where the woman asked what my outfit would be. I told her ""I have a navy blue velvet gown so I want a smoky look with my eyes played up"" - she gave me a NEUTRAL brown look!! Egh it was so awful and PLAIN. I was at the point of tears. This costed me $80 for a crap look! I will NEVER go there again. They dont listen!! Pros: upscale design Cons: staff doesnt listen, snobby receptionist, expensive more
