Neighborhood gym with Great Pool and Babysitting 4/13/2012

I joined PSC two years ago and have been pleased overall. It is not perfect but what other gym in the city has such a glorious outdoor pool? That is a big PLUS. They have plenty of elipticals and treadmills and some good yoga classes. The babysitting is awesome as it provides one hour to take care of ME. The babysitter Kim is a sweetheart and my little girl adores her. She gives me great peace of mind while I focus on my thighs. Overall, the facilities are fine, though they could use a few more spotters to help with weights. If you live in Society Hill or Wash West, this is your best bet. more

Radnor PSC 8/16/2011

I've been a member at the Radnor PSC location and have been disappointed. If you like watching tv while you work out, forget about it here. While there are tvs, they are not maintained in working order. I reported to the front desk person that 3 of the 4 stair climber tvs did not work on four separate occasions over a four month period and they have never been fixed. I recently switched to a treadmill and that tv did not work either! Also, during popular times at the gym there are consistently no towels available. For the price you pay ($69 per month is what I pay), you expect better facilities. I will find another gym after my contract runs its course. more

DONT DO IT 10/14/2009

This review applies specifically to the Rodin Place location (20th and Hamilton) AND ALSO to the company as a whole: I don't have enough space to discuss all the ways this gym has let me down. I've had other gym memberships in the past with absolutely no problems and a lovely experience. The short version of the story is: They literally lie to you, to get you to join. Then, when you try to call them on the lies they wrap you in red tape and ""policies"" that were never disclosed to you and you never agreed to. In the end, they use the financial information you entrust to them for monthly fees to continue to make random withdraws from you account years later telling you your membership is still active even though you never re-activated it. And it's their word against yours so you literally have to just pay them... for nothing. They might as well have mugged me on the street. It's theft. It's criminal. Pros: It is a gym Cons: Shady shady sales tactics, lies, and misuse of financial inf more

Spacious Gym with Pool 7/5/2008

Spacious Clean Gym good for networking and meeting other professionals. Trainers are good. Front Desk peeps need some skills on customer service. Pros: Great locations Good equipment Pool Cons: Eating at the front desk is not cool more

Awesome Pool, Awesome Deals 1/31/2008

This is the one with the awesome pool! I loved visiting this place. its offering some good sign up deals for newcomers. With no other fees attached, you can join for $20.08 and get the first month free - thats pretty cool. The assistance from the employees is pretty consistently up to par with every Sports Club I've been to, but this one actually surprised me with how helpful the staff was. Its a positive place to be, working out and shedding last year's pounds! more

Salami Smoking steam room 12/25/2007

Equipment is fine and gym is usually not too crowded. Pool is a huge plus if you are around in summer. Trying to get a trainer to show you anything or get a spot is unlikely. Many are prancing around with clients or parked in an office. Steam room is like a gay action film set, steer clear unless you're into steamy salami smoking sessions, A few classes are good, most of the excellent instructors don't stick around and many of the in-house folks have good intentions but little skill.\r \r I would say below average for the price. If you get fit here either you're very disciplined or you paid a lot extra to get personal attention. Pros: often not crowded Cons: too many salami smokers more

They keep raising their fees for current members 9/14/2007

Its a great gym. Nice equipment. Great trainers. Love the location. It really worked for me.\r i just cannot get over the fact that they keep raising their fees for current members every year.\r \r I was a member back in 2000 for 3 years.\r I quit because I was paying over >$75 per month and they were allowing new members to join for a special $50 per month (with no membership entry fees). I told them I would continue my membership and stay if they reduced my fees to what new members were paying. They would not. They stated the ""specials"" were for new members only. Existing members would have to quit and rejoin - but by then there would be an initial membership entry fee of $150. I left!\r \r Now comes 2006. I decided to come back and give this gym another chance.\r I signed up for 2 years - and my fees were fixed at $60 per month. They even told me that this will not increase. And my contract stated the same thing.\r \r Its one year later 2007 - well, they raised my monthly fees by $3 dollars.\r Well - what happen to what my contract said and that it was suppose to be locked at $60 for another year? Apparently - a tiny printed disclaimer on the back of my contract allowed for such an increase since this increased applied to everyone. Again - the lack of professionalism and respect for their members just got me fed up. \r \r i really like this gym but their continue effort in raising the fees for their current members just disgusts me.\r I ended my membership and now looking elsewhere. Pros: Location Cons: Raising Fees (no cap) more

You get what you pay for... and then some! 1/10/2007

I like this club. I've been to a few over the last 25 years, the staff is friendly, the trainers are actually educated and intelligent people. I went to Bally's last winter, and my experience there was the same as all the ""fast-food"" gyms I've ever been to -- ""nickel and dime 'em, don't deliver!"" Sure, PSC costs about $15 more a month, but everything is INCLUDED, no ifs, ands, or buts. The only thing I have to pay extra for is my training sessions, and I don't mind that, my trainer, unlike many I've met over the years, actually went to school and learned physical education. If I have to complain, it's that the water pressure stinks in the showers. I hear from other members the facility in Cherry Hill, NJ, has the best locker rooms, but other than that, I think this is the best move I could have made. more

Great! 1/9/2006

I love Katie & Birgit's yoga classes! Definitely great classes...The mind and body feels a complete rejuvenation, every muscle, every ligament and every part has been worked, purification. The gym itself is pretty good, too. Pros: Convenient Locations, Hours of operation, friendly staff more

Improving 3/20/2003

The gym is very tight and compact which makes for a rather stuffy work out, but they are doing what they can to improve. The atmosphere is friendly and the trainers are very professional. Things seem to stay broken for a while longer than they should. Overall, there has been an improvement, but the corporate way it is run can make it a bit annoying. Pros: convenient, pool Cons: poor management, hot and stuffy more

Good Facility - Terrible Hours 1/9/2003

I don't know what the previous users were thinking when they said the facility was not nice but the hours were convenient. On the contrary. Very few NYSC have pools and the gym is clean. It is also NOT crowded at all, even at peak hours. Staff is a mixed bag -some very nice and some ridiculous. HOWEVER: The gym closes at 6 pm on weekends. This is absurd! Pros: standard equipment, Pool, never too crowded Cons: Terrible hours more

Dosen't measure up... 9/28/2002

Although they have acceptable equipment and classes, the staff was not ""user friendly."" The facility itself was also in need of a good general cleaning. A far cry from its sister clubs in NYC. Pros: accessible, good hours Cons: poor staff attitude, overcrowded more

Not My First Choice 9/7/2002

Not the friendliest staff around, but an overall good facility with lots of choices for your workout. Pros: good hours, updated equipment Cons: overpriced, locker room dirty, staff with attitude more
