Worst service & management experience ever... 10/24/2011

I really hate to do this, but considering I have been going back and forth with Ed (Service Manager) and Dave (Manager) since June and havent yet gotten reparations, here's my review: June 9th 2011 (Yes, its been 4+ months and counting) I picked up my vehicle from Phil Smart Mercedes on Capitol Hill. Upon arrival I noticed my vehicle had been washed, something I understand most people would appreciate, but considering EVERY single time I drop it off I tell them NOT to wash my vehicle (dealership wash employees don't give two ****s about your car). It was also later discovered that in my service paperwork, it too is documented in there as a "NO WASH VEHICLE" Upon picking it up I was in a hurry and didn't realize the damage done to my vehicle til later in the day after my appointments. Their complimentary wash left my vehicle with permanent damage to the paint, the wheels, brake calipers and clearbra on my vehicle. Of which was estimated around 4K in damages to be remedied, something I wasn't willing to pay for myself considering everything else they nickle and dime you for and mysterious new problems which require attention when your car is being serviced. Not to mention the fault codes it had gone in for hadn't been addressed nor was the back of my drivers seat fully attached. (See my other reviews elsewhere for the full story, as Judysbook cuts you off at 3K characters). more

My best car buying experience! 1/7/2011

I'm a first time customer with a recently purchased pre-owned M-class, from the minute i drove in, to the second i drove out (2 hours later), SERGEY MAKHANOV completely redefine customer service to me. It's people like him that posses this rare kind of professional excellence and caliber that truly make a difference. This has been a paradigm-shifting experience for my wife and I. A trip to the auto-dealer now has taken on a whole new meaning; relational people that are genuinely caring, well intended and highly efficient like SERGEY need only to be multiplied. Thank you PHIL SMART MERCEDES, you've just won a couple more faithful clients. Best Regards, John S. more

Bad service from from Phil Smart on my Mercedes Benz SL 500 lemon and why i am driving an Infiniti now. 10/9/2005

I had a good experience with Phil Smart at the time i bought the car. It was a Mercedes SL 500 just a couple months after the car came out. Barrier was charging $35K over the MSRP. Phil Smart found a car for me, in the color i wanted and sold it to me at MSRP. I was ecstatic. Then the problems began. The electronics kept failing left and right. First the seat memory system stopped working. The sound system stopped unexpectedly (e.g. no music, no voice directions in the nav system) 4 times over a 6 months period. Later the cruise control stopped working. I had to bring the car for service many times. They would call me and tell me the car is ready but when i got there, i had to wait 30 minutes and sometimes more for them to print the invoice and get the car out. I worked on the eastside and had to cross the lake to go get the car. I ended up being late for work meetings twice because of them. Finally one day, the glove compartment would not open. This was the last straw. Less than a year after having bought the car, i sold it, disgusted, and bought an Infiniti. I asked Phil Smart if they would take it back and they give me a ridiculous offer, $20K under what i paid. I should have thought of the lemon law. I have had the Infiniti for 2 years. Nothing broke down and when i bring it to Infiniti (Kirkland), they give it back to me on time without making me wait. I was not surprised to read that Mercedes Benz was rated amongst the least reliable brand in Consumer Reports. See report at http://money.cnn.com/2004/11/08/pf/autos/cr_auto_reliability/ Buy a Japanese car or even a Hyundai and you'll be much better off. more

Professional Service. 7/19/2004

Phil Smart Mercedes has treated me respectfully and done good work on my car. I would hesitate to switch to another brand on the basis that I would have to go to a different dealer for service. more
