Phebe's Tavern & Grill

My friends and I drop in once every month. We never had problems with service. Maybe it's because we go there early and immediately order some cheap apps. My only complaint is that I've had hotter spicier wings elsewhere. I asked for the hottest wings and they gave me Louisiana level spicy sauce. That's not hot at all. This place is just awful - and mostly because of the disgustingly rude staff. I will NEVER go here again and am sure to make sure my friends and family all know to avoid this place. Atmosphere is disgustingly preppy; rather dry and unexciting. The staff have the nastiest attitude I have ever encountered in all of New York. Rude to the fullest. This clearly is a recurring issue but they are doing nothing to address it. This is the kind of place that thinks they can get away with treating their customers like dirt... even in a recession. We have made Phebe's an annual event coming from Ohio. The staff have been great each time we have been there, all have been attentive and we never waited long for refills. The food is excellent. Never had Calamari until coming here. So get the combination appetizer platter. You can get a $3.00 beer, on football days, which is hard to find in NY. If you want someplace to go that is in a nice area and where you don't feel rushed come to Phebe's. Pros: reasonably priced beer and food, friendly staff Cons: cannot think of anything more

Phebe's is a great bar....nice relaxed atmosphere! Excellent happy hour...drinks half price!!! Food is delicious especially the phebe's burger & nachos! Place really gets going on the wkend....also great to go watch football when u can get $3 beer! A major plus is their hot staff.....think it must be a job requirement!!!!!! I would suggest Phebe's to anyone looking for great burgers, a wide selection of beer and a relaxed atmosphere. There are multiple tv's so you can watch more than one game at once. The staff is friendly and very attractive. Over all I had an good time while drinking and dining. I will definitely be a regular on their Two for Tuesdays burger night!!!! I 've been going to Phebes for a few months now & i find this place, to be the best happy hour bar in new york city by far...great prices on drinks & also half price APPETIZERS!!!!\r The weekend night is perfect to meet people. The place gets really crowded but i must say that i always met someone interesting!!!\r The bartenders are always at their full & i have to say ,they do a great job!!!! \r I love the managers there, specially the tall american guy...he buys us drinks everytime we go! Like any recent college grad, I have been to Phebe's many a time, in many different states of mind. It serves its purpose as a busy post-college bar but nothing ever in my opinion excuses the bad attitude of its staff. If it's early in th week or empty the staff here is fine but on any night from Weds to Sat. every person who works there will treat you like a 13-yr -old child. Now I understand staff being tough on drunk people to prevent dangerous situations but this bar treats all patrons on busy nights like you are pain in their behind. There have been numerous occasions when staff will just flat out refuse to serve you or help you in anyway. It doesn't matter if you are a regular or a first-time patron or your having a birthday party there, their reasoning in deciding whom to serve is akin to Mao's decisions when he was the dictator of China; random and baseless. For example, one night I left my debit card there by mistake (this happens at bars like these all the time). I called the next day and was told they had it and that I could pick it up whenever. When I went to the bar later that night on my way home, it was packed and one of the bouncers let me in to just get my card. Because it was busy all of the bartenders on duty refused to get my card claiming it wasn't there, even after I was told by them just 6 hours earlier that they had it. After trying to argue with them and telling them that I had been told that it was there, I was told to ""just get the hell out and try again tomorrow"" by the manager on duty. No manager should ever tell this to a customer except when they are destroying the bar, skipping on a check or any other criminal activity. Being rude may be the MO in NYC but it should not be in the service business. Good service is defined by being the best AT YOUR BUSIEST. Phebe's is always THE WORST at their busiest. Go there sometimes, hang out with friends or watch a game but don't expect to be treated like anything other than a juvenile delinquent. Bottom line is we had a group of 5 girls, place looked rather empty, and they wouldn't even let us in for like an hour because they were line building. I don't recommend it for groups, and it looked like groups of guys couldn't get in as well. Pretty rough and rude security staff, actually felt like they were more fit for a dance club the way the were acting. anyway, we had heard okay things about that place, and were very disappointed. This is the WORST bar in the east village. Everyone from the upper east side wants to go out in the E.village so they come here. If you are not wearing a pin strip shirt, dont bother going boys. Looks like every male is wearing what their mothers picked out for them. I was also treated badly becuase of how I looked, are we still in the south? After expressing my distress to the bouncer, he did nothing. I would rather cut off my left foot then ever return to that bar. Dear god get new staff, who doesnt judge and seriously drop the pin strip. No one wants you in the e. village, go back the ues. And to the staff, get a G.E.D. do something when someone tells you they were treated badly. The doorman even asked ME for ID. I cudda kissed him. The staff inside was extremely accommodating to our ever-expanding group. The friendly and attentive waitress, did double duty as a photographress. There was a good beer selection though the appetizers were nothing to write Aunt Matilda about. The atmosphere was as friendly as a barn-dance. By the end of the night, the next table just joined us as part of the group. I love Phebe's! Friendly people, reasonable prices, perfect balance of bar, lounge, club without the pretense. I'm here at least several times per month and whenever my friends and I have a casual gathering, we come here. The crowd is young, hip and artistic. The music is always a good blend of cool and eclectic. I'm not sure why a lot of people think that this place is closed. They did some renovations a while ago, but its definitely up an running. This is by far my favorite place to watch FIFA games this year. The place is faily empty during the game hours and you pretty much get once screen per table. The food is good (esp. wings, fries, nachos) and the service is attentive, but not pushy.\r So if you want to watch sports - highly recommended, though no much going on there during the day. I went here with a couple of friends for dinner. Although it was a Friday night, the place was not that packed. There was a good crowd inside and the food was really great. The burger was delicious and I was able to trade in my regular fries for sweet potato fries at no extra cost. The waitress was friendly and efficient. My girlfriend and I often come to Happy Hour here. From 4-7 its 2-1 on everything. Gotta love that. During the baseball season theirs alot of Red Sox fans here. Yankee fans too. But who cares they both suck. LETS GO METS. Anyways I believe on thursday they do a wing special 20 cent wings. Wings were good. Have yet to try the rest of the food. No time, too busy drinking. My roommate and I went here because we were walking by. EVERYONE there happens to be the leftover people from BBar (across the street) and thinks that they are the coolest... when they are not! pushy shovey and obnoxious people make up this low class bowery bar. We were able to reserve the back bar for my birthday party on a Saturday night. The music was wonderful, the bartender was 100% attentive and everyone had a wonderful time. If you are looking for a bar with good prices, fun atmosphere and laid back people I highly suggest you try Phebe's for parties or anytime. Pros: great staff, great location, fun music more

I think Phebes reopened 6 months ago. Great crowd the Saturday night I went. DJ was playing excellent music. Very good food . Highly recommend it if you are looking for a classy bar-tavern party atmosphere . No attitudes Pros: good looking crowd, lots of beer, ROSCOE Cons: can get crowded later more
