Terrible Work 6/22/2009

He gave bad advice. The sanding was terrible. Poor craftsmanship in general. He did not put a moisture barrier down so that after a few months the boards cupped and warped. It is hard for me to imagine that anyone would take so little pride in their work. Of course he was inexpensive and worth every cent. more

Poor Communication, "Peter" Doesn't seem to exist 7/8/2008

I found this place listed in the "Advertiser" newspaper. Called it up and got a "Johnny". Johnny said Peter was "on vacation". Johnny came out, said he had 10 years experience, seemed nice and communicated well. Over the course of the next week, "Johnny" became a real jerk, and absolutely impossible to communicate with. Perhaps it was the language barrier, I could understand him fine with his Asian accent, but everything I said seemed to go right through him... He would say, "See you tomorrow at 7pm" and I'd say, "Can we make it earlier in the day?" and he'd say, again, "OK. See you tomorrow at 7"! This went on and on, with many different conversations. Ultimately he simply hung up the phone on me as I tried to understand him. I called back the next day and he hung up again. I asked why he kept hanging up on me and I couldn't even understand *that* answer. I asked to speak to "Peter" (by now it had been two weeks since I was first told Peter was on vacation) and was again told that Peter was on vacation. Every call will result in talking to "Johnny". I don't think there is a "Peter". I would stay far away from these guys. Floors need to be done with someone who you are really confident understands what you want, and this guy just cannot communicate. Furthermore, he's extremely rude. Furthermore, I think the whole "Peter" thing is a hoax. more

Ripped Off 5/29/2005

A refinished floor should be smooth. His work wasn't. After he sanded the floor, he didn't clean the floor from sawdust enough. It showed, I pointed it out to him, and he tried to smooth it over with a paint brush, for heaven's sake, and now there were brush streaks. Passable, but a big boo boo on his part. If he tells you he's experienced, don't believe him. I learned my lesson: They're out to get your money. You've got to ask for a plan and finished product quality. If they don't want to go into more detail, don't feel sorry for them. I gave him a postdated check, and he cashed it ahead of time. Guess what I got in return: a $22 dollar overdraft bill. When I called him on it, all he gave me was a nervous laugh. Ask him about me, Rick, and the work he did for me on the upstairs flat at Fair Oaks. more
