Dog Grooming 9/9/2011

My toy poodle has been groomed 3 or 4 times at this Petco. So far I have had no problems. The dog has not been stressed by the experience. The haircut has been fine. more

worst experience. Terrible customer service. Hung up on. 8/13/2011

My regular groomer was booked so I decided to take my dog here since I pretty much do all my pet shopping at Petco. I brought him in because he had some matts under his belly that needed attention as well as some poop that was stuck in the hair around his rear end. Nothing major, just a bath and a brush out. I dropped him off, an hour later he was ready for pick up. I paid, picked him up and on the way home noticed he was trying to scratch at his rear end. When I took a look, the poop was still there and the matts as well. I called Petco when I got home and spoke with the grooming dept who told me to speak with the manager on duty. I was put through to a girl named Michelle. When I spoke with her she said - "" You must have been mistaken because it is Petco's policy that NO dog leaves with poop stuck to his butt."" She then told me that he must have ""pooped himself on the ride home"" and ""he didn't have any matts, that I was making it up"". She started to raise her voice and get uppity with me, saying she was in charge, when I asked to speak to someone else. Then she hung up on me. Really Petco?!?! This is acceptable customer service? Absolutely the WORST experience ever and will NEVER invest ANY more of my time or money shopping with Petco because of this awful experience. In no way should she be in a management position. They have lost a loyal customer. Now I have to pay to have someone else groom him the way they should have in the first place. Sooooo NOT okay. Do yourself and your pet a favor and DO NOT take him/her here to get groomed unless you like wasting money and time. more

GROOMER LADY SUCKS!!! 11/9/2008

Not only could she not cut our chihuahua;s nails, she injured his foot, trying to do it!! He's limping and cannot put any weight on his leg. Witch!!! I hope you get your freaking hand bitten off!!!! The manager is also an asshat!! more

The Groomer hurt our dog 11/9/2008

We've have just returned from having our dog groomed and the lady their succeeded in hurting our dog's paw.\r \r Avoid for grooming, buy food only. Even in terms of food though, their prices are high on things and they have limited number of items more

WORST DOG CUT I HAVE EVER SEEN 7/11/2008

All i can say is if you want your dog looking like a f*#king raton, take your dog here. I spoke with the ""hair clipping genious"" that cut my dog's hair and he said that Golden's take one length, but i didnt know that that length was going to make my dog look like Mr. Biglesworth! I paid just as much as any privately owned groomer who would have at least given some kind of fade from his bald neck into his hairy head, which has given my rat-dog now a bowl cut. Instead of trying to fix the situation the guy argued with me and told me how wrong i was about every element of his bad cutting job. I hope they had a really tough time trying to squeeze all of the mucus out of my dog's a-hole. If you want to be a cheapo and make your dog look like a raton go here, if you want your dog to look great, spend another $5.00 and go to a privately owned company where people actually dont cut your dog's hair while their head is shoved up their own chocolate starfish. If you see Wadsworth around town, please dont point and stare and laugh because after all, as the douche there told me ,"" his hair is going to grow back!"" Oh! Duh, sorry for being so ignorant. I guess I am wring about the hair cut this guy gave my dog, because after all he IS a professional pet groomer....good job buddy, you really have succeeded in life......douche. more

DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE TOUCH YOUR DOG! 3/18/2008

I took my dog here for a flea dip. They tried to get me to add on all these additional services that I didn't want or need, and were really rude about it.\r When I picked him up that night he still had fleas on him. I told the Groomer who made up a bunch of excuses, then I had to go to the manager who also made up a bunch of excuses. Basically since I already paid them they were refusing to re-dip him. They made stand there for 30 minutes arguing with them THEN they didn't believe me that he still had fleas so I had to pick through his hair to show them. I think they were just in a rush to go home, even though it was only 5:30pm.\r Finally they agreed to re-dip him. They took him in the back and I could hear his crying & howling all through the store. I had no idea what they were doing back there because he is always so quiet. Finally I went back there & they had him in this cage with a huge blowdryer blasting on him. As soon as I came back they took him out of the cage and handed him to me STILL wet, not brushed or combed at all. He was freezing cold and so scared and trembling. I didn't want to give him back to them so I took him wet and went home to finish drying him myself.\r THE WORST PART is for the next week he was SERIOUSLY ill with uncontrollable bowel movements & wouldn't eat his food. I had to take him to the Vet twice that week and get all this medication. They couldn't tell what was wrong but we both think that the groomer gave him the flea dip shampoo to ingest. Either from carelessness or malice. DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE TOUCH YOUR DOG! They are just as expensive as any boutique groomer & don't give a SH*T about your dog. Right up the street is Sparky's Pet grooming & they are AMAZING!!! They really love pets & are so patient & sweet with them! oh, and they cost the same as Petco! Cons: they are evil mean groomers, made my dog sick, more

AWFUL - traumatic experience for my dog 3/7/2008

I don't know why but I kept on going back to this place because it was close and cheap. But, I feel horribly for subjecting my dog to it so many times. The last time I brought him there was the last straw. My baby who is always playful and happy came back traumatized and was not like himself for at least a week. He was not only tired, but was despondent. Clearly, the groomers there had really hurt him this time. Pros: Cheap Cons: Bad Treatment of Dogs more

HORRIBLE GROOMERS 3/2/2008

PetCo groomers are horrible!!! NEVER TAKE YOUR DOG HERE! After locking my dog in a cage for two hours, the groomers didn't even preform the agreed upon services. They overcharged me, my dog was still wet when I picked him up, and it didn't seem like they brushed him at all. I called to complain and the lady there admitted that she didn't even clip my dog's nails (they were so long, I just did them at home). AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!\r \r Poor service, rude staff. Pros: None. Cons: Awful service. more

STAY AWAY 8/11/2006

I know for fact that this Petco is completely incompetent of your pets needs... Their ""groomers"" seem like beauty school dropouts and I have been informed that several pets have DIED at their hands mainly through use of overheated blowdryers... the best decision we have ever made for our pet was to turn around and walk out of this pet salon and head to Pet Affaire, however if you don't want to travel that far, the groomers across the street are also well suited to beautify your pet and keep him/her alive...\r \r BOTTOM LINE- AVOID AT ALL COSTS Pros: They're always available Cons: they know nothing about grooming more

AT PETCO ALL DOG'S GO TO DOGGIE HELL! 8/11/2006

Being the animals lovers we are, my boyfriend and I rescued a lovely, incredibly handsome Pom from the animal shelter in Los Angeles. After a few days of having the dog at home, we decided to get it's hair groomed from being extremely untaken care of and matted while he was staying at the shelter. \r Being new residents of Santa Monica, we decided we would schedule a grooming appointment for our dog at PETCO while we shopped for his toys, bedding, leash etc. As soon as we arrived at PETCO, the service was horrible, the employees were incredibly unfriendly exuding a true lack of experience and knowledge in animals and grooming. To our shock they were going to fully shave our animal. In tears, we walked away from the store vowing never ever to return to a place which lacks animals friendliness, knowledge and trust. If you love your dog, value them then spend time on them so the receive the best care possible. Dog Lover BEWARE.\r \r *We took our wonderful dog to Pet Affaire in Santa Monica. They are very knowledgeable, well educated, trained, friendly and talented. We loved the results and all the compliment we received will walking him on the street and beach. Not to mention that our dog loved the people and the wonderful toys and treats he received from them.\r \r Give your dog the Ritz not Pet Cemetary. Cons: Untrained, Lack of Friendliness, Unskilled more

NEED SOMETHING 11/5/2005

I would recommend this place if you need some food or toy but other than that customer service isn't to great and well everything else stinks. I like Elian's Pet Depot right across the street a bit better when it come to getting my pooche's hair cut. PROS: great prices on clearance items! CONS: more

They really do cut dogs 9/27/2005

The groomers, the small space and the rush-to-make-a-buck spell nothing but disaster. I personally take my dogs to Bark Williams (30th & Ocean Park) and it is night a day compared to what my neighbors go through. One gal's Yorkie had it's tongue cut, was bleeding profusely, and the groomer expected to be paid. Another neighborhood got a summer cut, plus 5 skin cuts, resulting in a staff-type infection and the cat's death in short order. IF YOU DOn'T want to traumatize your pet or have it harmed, AVOID THIS PETCO. PROS: NONE CONS: Dangerous more

Editorial review from Insider Pages 1/19/2005

I take my dog to get groomed at PetCo about once a month or so. The positve about their grooming is that you are able to get an appointment easily, and they are very nice. The negatives is that it is just an average job for a decent amount of money. I recommend to take them there if you get lazy and don't want to clean your pups yourself. They will get the job done without a fuss. more

Good enough 6/27/2002

The main reason to recommend them is convenience. I called on a Saturday morning, and was able to get both dogs in and groomed by 2pm that day. Pros: convenience more
