Best downtown pet store 5/17/2007

I have been going to this Pet Bar location for three years, and I love the store and staff. They are all animal lovers themselves and are always able to answer my questions about products. When I moved about 10 blocks away, I found out they have free delivery! Now I call in my orders instead of going to the store. Pros: Friendly resident cats, Personal service, Competitive prices, Natural food selection more

Excellent selection, friendly service 4/5/2007

I don't live in the neighborhood but I work long hours there, and it is great to be able to get the specialty foods I feed my pets when I know I can't get to the store in my neighborhood. This place has a great selection of premium pet foods at competetive prices, and they deliver. I don't know what the first reviewer is talking about -- I have never had any trouble communicating with anyone at the store, but I guess some people have trouble with accents or something. It is hard to find a place to shop for pet supplies that is not a big chain and that carries the better brands, and this store has almost all of them. Yes, it's small, but with Manhattan real estate I expect that of an independent pet store. Also, this is one of the only places in the city that sells Pill Pockets! Pros: Great selection of specialty items Cons: Prices aren't any cheaper. more

Um. Learn English? 9/1/2006

The place was recommended to me by fellow dog owners. I went in and could barely turn around in the isle, it's so tiny! The prices are okay, the selection is good for a place this size, but there is one big defect. The guy who was manning the place barely spoke English, so he couldn't answer my questions. One of the things I look for in a pet store is knowledgeable staff, and it's difficult to assess somebody's knowledge when you have trouble communicating over the concept of a game of ""tug."" I'm all for multilingualism, but some jobs are better for people who speak poor English than others, and customer service is one of them. Pros: Selection and prices are okay Cons: The guy at the cash register barely speaks English more
