A great disappointment 1/12/2006

On the plus side the waiter and sommelier were personable and enthusiastic, definite assets. The Sapphire Martinis were perfect and the warm spinach salad was ok. The food itself was very disappointing. The crab cakes were mushy, the steaks over cooked. Our old favorite, Calamari and Cherry Peppers were a shadow of their former self. It was overcooked and lacked the spicy hotness of earlier days. Perrys used to have the best escargot in town. Now, having changed the recipe they have the worst Ive ever eaten or I should say tried to eat. Even the Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee was served lukewarm. The total cost for our evening, including tip, was $500. No way was it worth anything approaching this price. I think Perrys is expanding so rapidly while trying constantly upscale that the quality control seems to be continually declining. I hope Perry manages to reverse the trend. Pros: Ambiance, Staff, Bartender Cons: Food, Winelist more

inconsistant 10/31/2005

I have been at this restaurant 3 times, where the first two times were fairly good experiences (except for the fact that their famous porkchops aren't that 'famous'). However, this last visit was horrible. Had reservations, but wasn't seated until 40 minutes after my reserved time; food took about an hour to come out w/ our waiter dissappearing during this time- not giving us a status on our order; and finally the steaks comes out- but it's cold and tasteless and there was no difference between the rare steak and the medium cooked steak. You would think we went during peak time to eat dinner, but we didn't even receive our dinner until 10pm when the restaurant had pretty much cleared out and we were one of the few tables left in the restaurant. Pros: atmosphere Cons: service, price, food more

User review by skhsk6 6/5/2005

We have visited Perry's three or four times. The food is great every time, but the service is definitely lacking. The main problem we've noted is that the wine list has NEVER been current, and if we get lucky enough for them to have a bottle of wine we choose, we aren't lucky enough for them to have a second. This even took place on New Year's Eve, and they should have been prepared for anything that evening. The service is typically very slow, and the wait staff somewhat immature and unknowledgeable. In a restaurant of that caliber, you expect to have a more mature, and certainly knowledgeable, wait person. I even called to complain about wait staff before. We'll try it again because we really like the food, but if we don't see a marked improvement in service on our next visit, it will likely be our last. Pros: Good Food Cons: Service, Wine list not current more

Perry's Fan 1/24/2005

I guess those other reviews went on a bad night. I have eaten at Perry's several times and the food is wonderful. Yes, the waitstaff at times can be slow, but that is at most any restaurant. I would reccomend this place to friends and I will be back! Pros: Food, Wine, Bar more

Wonderful Place to get out 12/15/2004

My husband and I were one of the first people to visit this Perry's Grille in Surgarland when it opened. We were extremely pleased with the atmosphere and the service. The management is great and the food was super. Great place to get out Lynn & Doffie Benjamin Pros: atmosphere, service, waitstaff more

Huge Disappointment! 11/18/2004

5-10 minutes before drink order taken. Escargot just okay. Filet Perry's was delicious. Garden salad was nice, but only 3 dressing choices and Italian was very bland. Porkchops didn't taste very "famous". Ran out of the beer my husband was drinking. Stopped eating to save room for dessert and another drink, then sat for 20 minutes waiting for our server. When she finally came by to ask if we wanted dessert, we told her that 20 minutes earlier we did but at this point we'll just take the check. 5-10 minutes later the manager came by to apologize and offered to box up a dessert to go and comp-ed our drinks. I'd probably give it one more chance, but I doubt my husband will. Even though very slow service, waitress was nice and friendly. The rest of the staff didn't seem to have much to smile about. Pros: Location, Filet, Atmosphere Cons: , Value vs. Quality, Unfriendly staff more

clueless 10/9/2004

I agree with the last review by kaykayram. From the managers to the servers this restaurant lacks focus. Perry's needs help in the service and food department. I have dined at Perry's three times and each time the food arrived wrong or cold. Hopefully they rebound and problems. Pros: atmosphere, winelist, location Cons: , subpar food, stressed out service more

Worst service I've ever had! 9/1/2004

Maybe we went on a bad night, but this was the worst service I have EVER had! Our waiter ignored us for 20 minutes when we were seated, no drinks, no water, no greeting. Waiter refused to bring bread to the table when we requested, told me it was not time for the bread to come out! My steak was mixed up with my husband's not once, but TWICE! (His was med-rare, mine med-well). Our friends were done eating by the time we got the right steaks. To make us feel better, they offered us some coffee and desserts on the house. Coffee came out cold! Kept thinking it had to be a joke or something. THIS DINING EXPERIENCE WAS A NIGHTMARE!!!! Pros: Nice atmosphere more
