Editorial

  • The Skinny
If it seems that the Pepsi-Cola Roadhouse was opened as a response to the then-named Coca-Cola Star Lake Ampitheatre, well, it may be true. But the Pepsi-Cola Roadhouse fills a niche which is different than that of its much larger neighbor. The Roadhouse is a place where several hundred people can sit down to a nice dinner costing less than $40 and, at the same time, catch a show by national touring country artists such as the Oak Ridge Boys and Billy Ray Cyrus.

    A Different Experience
The owners of the Roadhouse like to mention that no seat is more than 50 feet from the stage and that their shows are for sensible adults, as opposed to Star Lake, where the music can be drowned out and where most people need binoculars to see the band. A few local bar-rock legends, such as Donnie Iris, fill out the performance schedule at the Roadhouse, which is an interesting, but still very predictable, addition to the entertainment scene.
