Pepper Pastor Hair Salon

I never write reviews, but I do read them. I'm a new mom, a busy TV producer and that keeps me pretty occupied. In August 2011, I bought a women's haircut through a prestigious website for Pepper Pastor Salon. After I bought it, I went online to read reviews on which hair stylist I should ask for. I saw the bad reviews for Brandi, so I called the salon & asked not to have her cut my hair. I asked for someone else but the cost was higher, and I did not want to lose money so I decided to go for Brandi. When I got there, Brandi asked me tons of questions on the type of cut I wanted. She was a great listener. She also added her own recommendations for my type of hair & schedule. Gave me options & took mine as well. Her suggestions were right on! and the haircut she gave me was seriously the best haircut I have ever gotten. I have received so many compliments, but most important of all, I absolutely love it! Thank God for second chances! I'm glad I was proven wrong. Brandi you are a gem! Thanks for making me look prettier :) more

i never read reviews, let alone write one, but i feel compelled because that's how BAD my experience was. first off, the shampoo sucked. sometimes i look forward to a good shampoo more than a good cut and this girl's massaging pressure was as weak as rain drizzle. and i've had sneezes that lasted longer. i was in the chair for literally less than 3 minutes. now let's get to brandi, my designated charity for the day. she was rude, brash, and man-handled me like a child to sit up straight or look this way or that way. um, i'm aware of the differences in directions and words would have been sufficient. she was SOOO fake in asking me conversational questions, in which, she would interrupt my answers or respond in a way where it was completely obvious she hadn't been paying attention. overall, the WORST salon experience ever, and i've been to a TON. too bad, i was looking forward to this hair experience matching the charm of the area but oh well. plenty of other great salons who deserve my cash. more

My first experience at pepper's salon was a wonderful one. I was looking for a place to get my eyebrows done and a friend of mine mentioned this salon located by south street seaport. When I got there I was greeted by a friendly, wonderful staff. They asked what I needed and I told them I would like to get my eyebrows done by emma since she did a great job on my friend. When I met emma and told her how I wanted my brows done - she really listened to what I wanted. The other salons I have experienced always did my brows too thin or never shaped them well. So when emma started, she looked at my face shape to make sure they fit the brows I wanted and she used tweezers. I feel like most places do waxing or threading which doesn't work for me because of my sensitive skin + with tzeezers you can carefully select the hairs you don't need anymore. Even though tweezing might take alittle longer its worth the results that you will get from emma. As she was working, we were talking about her background experience which I also found interesting. Emma has wedding and editorial makeup experience as well! You can tell she has this unique, diverse, creativity about her. When she finished, I noticed my brows helped shape my face so much better. They were also even, shaped perfectly and not too thin. I was definitely pleased with the results! After my brows were finished I asked too see the makeup line since she knew so much about it as well. Since I have sensitive, acne proned skin she recommended this Young Blood powdered foundation. She applied it on my face and the color was perfect as well as the coverage. Overall, my experience was wonderful and will be a continued customer. more

Despite living in NYC for the past couple of years, I constantly ventured back to my hometown to get my hair cut and highlighted at the salon I have gone to for the past 10+ years. Besides loyalty to my salon, I found that the value for the price far surpassed anything I had found in the city. Pros: service, staff, value and atmosphere Cons: none! more

My girlfriend started getting her hair cut there and I would occasionally stop by to see her while she was getting done up. I was impressed by the interior of the place and how friendly the staff was. Before I knew it, it became my go-to place as well. It's easy to get appointments and I never get turned away. I've been going to Pepper for years, booked her for my wedding a couple years ago, and gladly followed her to the new salon. So glad I did! What a gem of a salon! The stylists and staff are so friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. I went in the other day to freshen up my spring makeup collection (which was fantastic, thanks to Emma!) and while sitting in the make up chair I watched several clients leave with gorgeous hair. I love this place! The neighborhood and the space is absolutely beautiful. The salon not only fits my needs, it fits my style! The staff is really attentive and cute. I have had done almost every service on their menu and they continue to impress me every single time! Once you try Pepper Pastor Salon, I highly doubt you'll try any other place. I know I won't! I have curly hair and I used to be one of those girls that didn't care about a bad haircut because i figured it wouldn't show with all my curls. WRONG!! Since I had my hair cut by Pepper, and styled several times by Julian...nobody else is allowed to touch it! I can wear it straight or curly and I love it both ways--- a first for me! I have to go longer between cuts now because I no longer live in NYC and I have to fly in to see them, but it is worth it, and it always looks fantastic while it is growing out between cuts too! This salon messed up my hair... pretty badly. Ok, fine, even the great ones make mistakes, new employees,... I understand. Having cried at night after looking at myself at the mirror, the next day I was brave enough to complain. At first, they apologized and tried to fix it. But when they were unable to fix it, they denied any wrongdoing and called me a liar, stating that my hair was iproperly treated at another salon, and made other unnecessary and denegrating remarks. My advice - do not go there! Pros: Nice location Cons: Poor styling, treatment, and handling of the problem more

Julian cut and colored my hair over the weekend. He did a really fantastic job! He got funky with the hightlights using more than one color and made sure he was nourishing my hair at the same time. I am happy with the cut and color and will def go back! I also watched the other artists in there at work and everyone looked great. Love the new salon. Atmosphere is so beautiful and relaxing. Christina has cut my hair twice now and she was so invested in listening to what I want and providing her creative input. High fashion meets a bit of goth in the newest seaport gem. The Pepper Pastor Salon is exactly what the area needed - a neighborhood salon with world class ability and concepts. I recently got my haircut by Pepper herself and have never been so please with the results. We conversed to come up with a harmonious vision and she was able to take my look to the next level. The entire staff was inviting and entertaining. I referred a few friends to the salon and they too were very pleased. Julian masterfully colored and cut their hair -they all look fabulous. my 15 yr old daughter needed her fine curly auburn hair wrestled into some sort of control.... the cut was amazing and as it grew out, it still looked great!!! the staff was friendly and on time, which is especially helpful with a teen who does not like to wait! Pepper's sense of style, her awareness of color, and her sharp eye for shape make her a brilliant professional who has made me look my best. Pepper Pastor's salon is responsible for some amazing, beautiful and unique styles. I can be sure that when I walk down the aisle, I will look amazing and I will look like no one else. Pepper and her staff are amazingly talented and sweet! Pepper has been cutting my hair for years and despite the salon being pretty far from my apartment, I would NEVER think about going anywhere else. She has always exceeded my expectations with my haircut & color and I always leave feeling relaxed and beautiful!
