I wast there Sunday afternoon I order a chicken mole I probable say grease mole and my friend oder a tilapia that looks like they fried them in a black oil.and the server never ask us how wast everything . We went eat at chipotle!! more

WORST Mexican Food EVER 8/5/2011

I went craving some good Mexican food, & what I got was JUNK!!! I asked for fajitas & all I got was something that tasted like liver & a lot of bell pepper & onions. This place does not know what Mexican food REALLY is, if you gave this place a good review I would suggest you travel to Texas. This place is OVER RATED & OVER PRICED! I feel sorry for the people who go & enjoy this place, even Taco Bell is more authentic than this JUNK!!! I now know that Portland does not have good Mexican places to eat. This place caters to people that have NO IDEA what Mexican food really is, & by the way I'm not Mexican I'm Colombian & I know what REAL Mexican food is. THIS IS JUST JUNK!!!!!!!!! more

Terrible 1/6/2009

I have looked everywhere for good Mexican food in Portland and Beaverton, as far as I am concerned it does not exist. This is a prime example of Mexican food gone terribly wrong. I lived in Texas for most of my life, and I understand the difference between Tex-Mex and Mexican food. I have had both, on all levels. From the fine dining, to the little taco truck. Please don't go here, it is not what Mexican food is, Mexican food can be something sublime. I will call this what it is, North-Mex, and it does not work. best burritos 11/9/2006

I don't know what the other reviewers were talking about. I go here often and the food is always excellent as is the service. The chicken burrito is terrific with huge chunks of lean chicken, not the usual greasy and fatty chicken you get at other Mexican restaurants. We got sick, Avoid on a hot day. 7/23/2006

It can taste great, but not at the expense of your health. My husband and I got sick from eating there (I'll spare the details). Perfect! 4/24/2005

I'm from California, married to a Chicano, and have been around people who cook great Mexican food all of my life. Since we have moved here we've been to a couple of ""traditional"" Mexican food restaurants and have found them to be lacking. If I want American-ized Mexican food I might as well go to Taco Bell or Chevys. But Pepitas was different. No one concentrated on making the food pretty, only good. No good, wonderful. My husband and I ordered a shrimp cocktail and a combination plate with taquitos and flautas. The shrimp cocktail so good! It had enormous shrimp and cilantro and avocado in it and the taste was perfect. The flautas and taquitos were perfect as well. The beans weren't horribly watered down and bland, but had a great consistency and very flavorful. The rice was also very delicious. We finally found our perfect Mexican restaurant! Pros: Everything! A treasure in suburbia 2/5/2005

My wife and I ventured away from the confines of SE Portland for some mundane errands and we came across Pepitas. Wow. I had the Posole, which is a pork and hominy soup that they prepare on the weekends only. It could be described as the mexican equivilent of pho, complete with a variety of garnishes and spices, and it is worth the drive from anywhere in the Portland metro area. The wife had a medley of tacos that were top notch, as well. In a landscape dominated with chains like Baja Fresh, Burger King and Quiznos, this place is a real treasure, and we will certainly make the trip out to the burbs for the sole purpose of eating here again. My wife and I loved it! Great Margeritas, food and service! The chips and salsa was to die for! When your ready to ask for another bowl of chips they are bringing your food! My wife had the tacos/Burrito combo and I had fajitas. Both were great, you must try!! We just got back from Mexico and we felt as though we were sitting in Mexico again! Homemade food, Clean, Good portions 8/1/2002

Ever wonder what soft tacos with corn tortillas taste like? Or large succulent chucks of soft pork in chile verde sauce? Refried beans that DONT come from a can? Pepita's makes exceptional Mexican food, offers nice portions at a reasonable price, and serves it up in a clean, friendly environment. Talk about awesome authentic mexican beans! Great tacos...this place is great AND reasonably priced! Try it! The servers are attentive and remember you when you come back!
