Buyer beware - no returns no matter what! 12/20/2011

I too had a really bad experience. BEWARE of the return policy which is no returns no matter what.\r \r I bought a lens extension kit for my daughter and a new filter for her SLR. I brought the camera and lens in the day I bought these two items. The lens kit was $200 (for macro work). I showed the salesperson the camera and lens and asked if they would work with them. He said he was completely sure (like I was a dummy).\r \r When I got home and gave them as a gift it turns out they "fit" the Canon but the macro magnification with this lens is so close that you touch the object you're trying to photograph before it comes in focus. So they really don't "work" even though they "fit". \r \r I brought them back within 10 days and explained how they didn't work with the camera and lens and was told there was no return/refund, even though they had said it would work and it did not. I could only get a store credit to spend more with them in the future! They also would not take back the fil more

No returns no matter what happens - buyer beware 12/20/2011

I too had a really bad experience. BEWARE of the return policy which is no returns no matter what. I bought a lens extension kit for my daughter and a new filter for her SLR. I brought the camera and lens in the day I bought these two items. The lens kit was $200 (for macro work). I showed the salesperson the camera and lens and asked if they would work with them. He said he was completely sure (like I was a dummy). When I got home and gave them as a gift it turns out they ""fit"" the Canon but the macro magnification with this lens is so close that you touch the object you're trying to photograph before it comes in focus. So they really don't ""work"" even though they ""fit"". I brought them back within 10 days and explained how they didn't work with the camera and lens and was told there was no return/refund, even though they had said it would work and it did not. I could only get a store credit to spend more with them in the future! They also would not take back the filter which was still sealed and said it was to stop people renting from them. I explained I could not have rented the filter as it is still sealed but they said no there as well - absolutely no exceptions. So don't buy anything there unless you are absolutely sure you want it since this is like a third world bazaar or flea-market operation where the buyer must beware and they do not stand behind their advice. What a fool I was. more

Good selection/staff with 1 exception 8/23/2011

I've bought cameras, lenses, and accessories from Peace. They have a great selection and competitive pricing. The staff is awesome except for one of the salesman. I forget his name but he is the guy in charge of buying used equipment from customers. For lack of a better word he is a total A$$hole. I recently dealt with him and I can say he is the only reason I am not giving them 5 stars. Not only was he rude to me but he was rude to the other salesmen there. Its impossible to have a decent conversation with this man. I'm semi experienced with photography but still had some questions which he answered in a way which made me feel like just leaving and giving a bigger store like Best Buy (who willingly answer my questions) my money. I might not spend thousands and thousands of dollars but I have spent a lot of money there and expected better. He has completely ruined my impression of Peace Camera. more

Canon user 6/21/2011

I went in to Peace Camera with a problem with my camera. I told one gentleman my issue and asked if they could help and another gentleman asked me where I purchased my camera. After I told him that my husband purchased it online he decided to lecture me on how the internet is putting small business like them out of business. I felt so uncomfortable that I left. I am apart of a big photography group at church and they said that they weren't the nicest people. Honesty I think your customer service is putting you out of business. I won't be back. more

Peace Camera in Raleigh, NC 9/16/2010

I have nothing but nice experience from Peace Camera especially Greg. I brought my D90 (not purchased from them)for some adjustment with the shutter and they fixed it for free. I was torn between lenses and they recommended me the best. I wanted to buy another zoom lens and they advised me to wait for an upcoming one and I am so glad I waited. This shop has everything and the staff actually knows what they are talking about. I have read some reviews on how some of the guys behind the counter treat them but coming from an Asian like me, they treated me with utmost courtesy and camaraderie of fellow shutterbugs... more

GREAT CAMERA STORE 4/28/2010

This store was recommended by one of my photography teachers, who said ""Leave your wallet home (because you will be tempted to spend money)."" I found the staff to be very friendly and informative. They strive to provide the customer with what the customer needs, not what they want to sell. They also give unlimited advice about equipment, techniques, etc. Wonderful place. Maybe they would be interested in establishing a branch nearer to Fort Bragg (could be called War Camera). Pros: TOO MANY TO LIST Cons: TOO FAR FROM MY HOME more

Good Service 2/26/2010

I bought a tripod from Amazon for a price that I thought was too good to be true. Took it out of the box and it fell apart. My neighbor had recommended Peace Camera and told me it was an old style camera shop with good service. Sure enough I went and the salesman sold me exactly what I wanted. In the past I had purchased a Sony point and shot from Wolf and after 13 months I took it back to Wolf because the lens was stuck and it would't work. Wolf told me it would cost more than the camera was worth to fix it and I may as well buy a new one. After a couple of months I picked up the camera and before throwing it away I put new batteries in it and tried it. The camera worked. I called Sony to find out what the issue was and found out that happens some times and all you have to do is drain a capacitor to reset the program. You can do this by taking the batteries out and holding the on button down for a minute. You would think the people at Wolf would know that. Wish I would have more

Disappointing Experience with Peace Camera 11/14/2009

I went there hoping to get some good advice - especially after reading the reviews on this site. I was debating between two cameras and asked the man behind the counter what his opinion was. His exact words were: "You probably know more about the camera than I do. We don't really take time to memorize the specs." That's disappointing. Plus, the guy said I couldn't look at the camera unless I bought it. Seriously? I came in the store ready to spend more than $2,000 on the camera and lens. But I was treated like I wasn't worth their time at all. I hate the fact that camera stores are having a hard time competing with online stores. But when they treat people like this, why wouldn't you shop somewhere else? more

great service, great store 11/12/2009

Went here with a jammed lens on a casio coolpix. gentleman behind counter said 'let me take a look' and took it in the back. 5 min later came back and camera worked PERFECTLY! i waited for the $5, $10, $20 charge. when he didn't say anything i asked what the cost was and he said 'no charge'. When i need a new camera this will be the FIRST place i go even though it's a bit of a jaunt. Pros: follows golden rule, fixed my camera at no charge Cons: far from my home more

Awesome place!! Would def. suggest going here!! 7/7/2009

I took my camera here recently and they were able to fix it immediately and correctly! They are extremely knowledgable about cameras, not to mention, very kind, and willing to assist! I was EXTREMELY pleased upon taking my camera here (especially after wolf camera -dont ever go there- told me it would cost $200 to fix it, and i would have to ship it out, and then they tried to tell me I would be better off buying a new camera and TRIED TO SELL ME A NEW ONE) I was like seriously? first of all, im not spending $200 to fix a $75 camera, and no, I DONT WANT A NEW ONE! anyways.. peace street camera was great and I am so happy my camera is fixed! Pros: Very nice staff, knowledgable about cameras! more
