French food 1/14/2007

I was there on Saturday night, first time. We waited 1 1/2 for our order to be taken. I did see there was a band, and the house was packed, but that length of time was ridiculous. When we did order the waitress was gracious. The food did come in about 45minutes. The food was generally good, nothing too exciting. I don't know if they were understaffed, but the kitchen must have been overwhelmed. When it was time to get out check , one person in my party saw some extra charges on her bill. But she knew it would take for ever to get corrected, so she just paid it. We noticed at the table next to us, the same conversation going on, and they requested the manager. Just double check your bill. Overall and okay experience, maybe good on a less busy night. more

I first went to Patou with my best friend from out of town. I was embarrassed. For what we were served the prices were outrageous. In addition, the waiter kept disappearing to the back of the restaurant for a ridiculous amount of time. I went back for dinner and the food was late cold and raw. They chose to comp us dessert which was nice but then we could not find the waitress to get our check. I had to get up and get here and the place was empty. Waste of time and money.. more

Patou was once our favorite place in town. We went last Saturday and we will not return. 5 entrees were "sold-out" after the waiter told us it was very slow that night. Several wines were also "sold-out". My steak was not prepared correctly. The once impeccable service at the old Patou is gone. Very sad. When questioned, the waiter told us they were preparing to shut down in a few weeks to renovate? It sounds like there is another story being untold. Pros: tasty pate Cons: not worth returning more

Patou should be called.......Pat-No.........My husband and I ducked in for a Friday lunch. The restaurant was empty, and we were seated behind the bar where world cup soccer was blasting on the television....we asked for the television to be turned down..but then was reseated to accommodate the staff who were watching the set. The waiter brought us a "free taste of soup", and was upset that we did not order it (my husband doesn't care for soup). We ordered the pork tenderloin and asked that the sauce be placed on the side.......he stated "no problem" and then was tiffed when I was annoyed that the sauce arrived over the overcooked pork...We asked for the check, left our card on the table, but the waiter wouldn't pick it up..........so we left cash......and a 40 cent tip.......it was the worst experience we've had in Charlotte. more

Not the same wonderful romantic French restaurant we knew and loved on Park Road. No more French speaking waiters, no more trout as if we were in Paris (with the head on). It is a monster space now, like lots of American bistros. We went with a big party and our children and their dates were happy, but alas, I miss the intimate fine place it used to be. House wine was good, appetizers were good, my trout was ok, but the crepe was not good...canned broth in the brown sauce, yuk. Those who are not real connisseurs will most likely be content. Service was average. Pros: good location , good for large group, good for young people Cons: service, food more

Loved everything! The best french onion soup I've ever had, then the rich, chock full of lump crabmeat crepe, to the interesting and quite delicious dessert...some type of cream cheese with berries in a fruit sauce. The service was friendly and prompt. I will definitely be back! Pros: food was perfect, fairly priced, great service more

Great French restaurant 1/29/2006

Being French, I was a bit scared to try this place. But I have to admit that I was extremely pleased with my experience at Patou. Finally a place in Charlotte where romance and great foods come together with a French twist! With a staff multi-lingual that know lots about French food, they can give you greats advices on the food and wine selection. The atmosphere with the French music in the background made me feel at home. And concerning the menu, it is what my grandmother used to make. It is easy and at the same time full of flavors. One word to sum it alltres bon chef! Pros: food, service, parking more

Very Bad Experience 1/12/2006

trimagirl Provided by Partner
Although the food was very good, I would never reccomend Patou to anyone. I've never had such poor service in my entire life. I was stuck in the restaurant for over three hours because of various mix ups by the staff. My small group was never apologized to for the mix up or given any type of break on the bill (which was also screwed up). I will not go back which is unfortunate since the food itself was good. Cons: service, service, management more
