Yummy Breakfast, Huge Portions 1/3/2011

Huge portions! Just went here last Saturday and it was pretty good. I thought the breakfast I ordered said 2 eggs, potatoes and sausages or bacon. When it came, I was shocked at the amount of food... not to mention there were 5 sausages! I could only eat 4 lol. I should've gotten the smaller breakfast that my boyfriend ordered... the business breakfast (something like that)... still pretty good sized-portion. My eggs were scrambled and cooked just right... not soggy and not overly done. The potatoes were good except I don't like onions or green peppers so I had to fork those out... luckily, the onions and green peppers weren't overwhelmingly mixed in. We also ordered a biscuit with gravy that was okay... that came out to be over $5 because we had asked for gravy on it... okayyyyy ONE biscuit with gravy on it... $5?? True, it's a huge biscuit, but come on. Anyway, my breakfast was yummy and I would definitely go back here to try the other breakfast foods they have. Our waitress seemed a bit nervous to me, but she was attentive overall except for the beginning when she brought me an orange juice instead of an apple juice. Guess they sound the same lol. She corrected it and didn't charge us for the OJ so that was okay by me. This place isn't fancy at all, but I liked it for some yummy afternoon breakfast. \r \r They take cards... I know because I paid with one. =) Had it been cash only, that would have totally sucked! \r more

bad experience 4/15/2009

I've been to this place only once and that was enough. It is really loud in here and waitress are not really helpful. I was surprised by the prices way too much for these days I mean $14 for an omelett and forget about the coffee thats about $3. Then time to pay I reach to my wallet and the waitress says ""oh we only take cash"" ok... then she tells me theres an ATM across the street. Hello Im not crossing eagle rock Blvd just to pay this lousy restaurant nothing. I just took the coffee and thats it oh and forget about the receipt too!! they wont give it to you!! Really bad experience. There are better places on Eagle Rock/ Highland Park just look around Pros: nothing Cons: pretty much everything more

Put up with the service and eat the food. 10/22/2007

Okay, the service can be lackluster at times, let's just get that right out of the way. Do you go some place FOR the service? No. You go for the food. The food is always good, most of the time, great! Some complained about 2.00 dollars for coffee? Oh woe is me! 1.50-2.00 is STANDARD for coffee at any restaurant. \r I recommend Jose's Special. Get the biscuit for your bread choice and you basically get biscuits and gravy, homefries, eggs and sausage for 7 bucks. That's a good deal anyway you spin it.\r \r And why on earth does it say ""CLOSED"" in the title for this page? The place isn't closed. Pros: Great food. Cons: Service is spotty. more

Three strikes and you're out! 7/12/2007

I moved to Eagle Rock about a year ago and was pleased to find a breakfast place within walking distance form my house. I have tried Pat and Loraine's 3 times and each time with a different friend or family member. Each time we go, we leave disappoined with the customer service. The servers are very rude and treated us like we were bothering them whenever we asked for something...like a refill of coffee.\r The owner rolled her eyes when a friend of mine asked her a question. I will never go back. Businesses must treat their customers better if they expect to be competitive with newer, hipper places to eat. Three strikes and Pat and Loraine's is O-U-T!! Perhaps they will get bought out soon by a smarter business person. more

Best breakfast 6/22/2007

I drive a long way for this food. It is excellent and plenty of it for a very reasonable price. I can't think of a better breakfast within 15 miles (and I eat out a lot). Clean neat place, friendly service, and great food. Pros: Excellent food and a lot of it. Cons: They don't stay open late enough. more

just an average eagle rock breakfast spot 1/24/2007

First time at the place after passing by it numerous times on eagle rock blvd. My husband & I usually eat at armon's up the street by swork or the french cafe beaujolis up on colorado. auntie em's is yummy for breakfast as well as lunch too! i've heard the place was good so decided to give it a try. upon entrance we were greeted cheerfully by our server. we were given coffee even before we could sit down which was nice but come reciept time it was $1.95 per cup! Yikes! their menu is expansive and some of it a little pricey with egg white substitues being $2.00 extra!!! at armon's, it's free everytime i order the veggie omelet. anyway, my husband ordered the double order of eggs benedict with home fries. it was a huge serving but the homefries were a bit mushy and not quite as good as armon's. i like my homefries in actual pieces and brown and crisp on the outside. i ordered a short stack of hotcakes which were large in circumference but flat like a coin. they were a bit mushy as well, which i didn't mind and were very filling. i could only finish one and gave the other two to my hubby. the taste was pretty bland. the place itself had a cozy feel to it and there is ample parking. only bummer is that it's cash only. at least i tried it so i know what to make of it, but i will not be in any rush to come back. i will stick to my regulars around eagle rock which are better and worth the money and quality. Pros: parking, quick service on weekdays, large portions Cons: expensive coffee, a little pricey for value of food more

Wow, take my paycheck why don't you? 6/9/2006

Man oh man, I was in a mood for a bagel, some fruit, coffee and i wanted a choclate shake. I had the bagel, fruit and coffee but NO shake because they don't make shakes. Lets just say I was dissapointed because I didn't get a shake, apparently they don't make them there?\r So i had my average bagel and a small little fruitbowl, some coffee . Time to pay. I ended up spending over 10 dollars with tip! excuse me? A little over the top if I do say so. I'm actually glad I didn't get a shake, would have ended up paying with a 20. The waitresses look rushed too like if they need to hire a couple of more hands. I don't know, I don't recommend this place. I heard a lot of good things about it, but i didn't experience that. Pros: Nice look Cons: noisy, unorganized more

WHAT???? 6/7/2006

I remember this place from years ago. WHY is it so different?? I'm sure they have new owners, which is horrible!\r The vibe is so wrong! The waitresses are too busy talking to eachother and being scadalous that serving you becomes second place. I don't recommend eating here anymore. Before these owners, it was a different story. Pros: location Cons: loudgossiping waitressesscandalous more

Pros: local, omelettes Cons: ruidoso, meseras more

GREAT FOOD...BUT 5/16/2006

The have some great food..omelettes are all great...but there are some prices that are rediculous...like coffee...and a bagel...the fruit is crazy expensive. I am not sure why though. A word of caution though, for people with kids...there is a waitress there, I think her name is Rose, she has been very vulgar each time I have been there. Yes you guys, in a gross way too...about her sexual relationships (she was talking in spanish, but i understood clearly). So eventhough the foos was good, I have not and will not be back. Pros: food, location Cons: can be loud, Rose, some prices more

Good neighborhood breakfast 2/22/2006

Pat & Lorraine's is a neighborhood classic. I've been eating here since I was a teenager, cutting class, having breakfast with the neighborhood police officers. These days I frequent it with my family. They're always busy on the weekends, so if you're able to go during the week, I highly recommend it. The staff here is always friendly. Try one of the huge omelets or their almost-too-big-to-eat pancakes. You won't be disappointed. P & L's is a nice place to sit, enjoy breakfast with friends or quietly read your Sunday newspaper. Although they're always crowded, you never feel rushed or pressured to leave sooner than you're ready. Pros: friendly staff, huge menu Cons: small parking lot, busy weekends more

GREAT FOR BREAKFAST!! 6/8/2005

I just love this restaurant!! It has friendly staff, great food (especially the breakfast), fast service, and very good looking customers from Occidental College! ;) All the omelets are delicious.Yum, Yum!! You will definately will not be disappointed!!! Very inexpensive and not to mention a wonderful atmosphere and great portions!! CHECK IT OUT!! Pros: YUMMY BREAKFAST, FRIENDLY SERVICE, VERY INEXPENSIVE Cons: Closes a lil early more

Best coffee shop around! 12/27/2004

I absolutely adore this little slice of local Eagle Rock flavor. Lately all the big corporate chains and businesses have been moving in and cluttering up this lovely little family neighborhood. Thankfully, we still have Pat & Lorraine's coffeeshop to keep our stomachs filled and our hearts content. I highly recommend the johnny omelot. The omelot portions are so big they'de make a defensive lineman blush. The rest of the menu's portions are jusr average. Stay away from the sandwich portion of the menu. I've tried most of it and was very displeased! But if breakfast is what you're looking for...you've come to the right place. The service is also top notch! Some of the friendliest waitressed I've ever been subjugated too! Outside seating is also available! Pros: Breakfast Menu, Prices, Outside seating more

Not just for breakfast! 10/2/2002

Ah the review before this one brought back so many memories. So back to Pat & Lorraines, the food here is so good. You can pretty much order any omelet you like. I love their traditional ham & cheese. But I've tried some of an omelet that my best friend gets and it's yummy as well. It's an all egg white omelet, with avocado and cheese. Lunch is really good, I'd recommend the Club sandwich. Fries are really good. The service is a bit slow, but so worth the visit. The prices are reasonable, and the food is good. A definite favorite. I will definately try their french toast. Pros: Custom Omletes, Good Prices, Hearty Portions Cons: Long wait @ times, Can get a little loud more
