Editorial review from Citysearch 5/12/2013

just today I called to place a ""pick up"" order- I know it is Mothers Day and I know how busy they can be- but I was left on hold for over 45 minutes, I finally hung up. I think someone could have picked up the phone and simply said - we are at capacity- it would be an hour before we can get your order ready- something instead of just letting someone sit on hold (I wanted to see how long it would be before they picked up or hung up.) I am very dissapointed- we have had used them for catering family get togethers many times, and we have been there to dine at least 3 times a month since their old location. But it only takes one bad memory to throw you off and now I will be searching for a new family restaurant, I did get through over an hour later and let a manager know, but I don't know that they really cared. I think we will be going to Atria's at the cloverleaf from now on- they have very good fresh food and it is a pleasant atmosphere! more

Poor Service 3/16/2012

Recently, my family & I went for dinner on a weeknight at Pasta Too. First of all I was really shocked at how dressed down alot of the people were...sleeveless sweatshirts on men! Secondly, the waitress was so rude...just threw our plates at us even though she was able to keep refilling my husband's drink. Strange behavior. Lastly, the waitress had the biggest and I mean biggest sauce stain on the sleeve of her white shirt and I know it was not a fresh stain! There are many more accommodating restaurants in the South Hills that require professional attire and service from their staff. more

My new favorite restaurant. 9/21/2011

I don't know what all the bad reviews are about. My wife and I went there for the first time and loved it. The staff was very friendly, and the food was great. Nice big portions, we could not eat it all. Loved the dipping sauce! Was a little pricey but the amount of food outweighs the price. We didn't have room for their great deserts, so we ordered them to go. (Couldn't resist) As far as the wait time to be seated, we went in the early eve, and was seated right away. If you have to wait, so what, It will be so worth the wait. more

Tons of food 1/30/2011

I've been here many times and have also gotten take out many times as well. I love the large portions at decent prices. I can usually get three meals out of one order. My husband also loves their bread with dip. The downsides are horribly rude hostesses, which I cannot understand why they are so angry or why their bosses let them keep that attitude, and the long wait times for a table. The portions are big and the food is good, but the food isn't so outstanding enough to wait one and a half hours. We do enjoy take out from here a lot though. more

Rudest hostess in the city 10/10/2010

Although this restaurant does have decent food and huge portions, the rudeness of the hostess has stopped my family and myself from returning. We used to visit at least a few times a month, but once this hostess was rude to our mother because she wasn't getting up quickly enough when our table was ready (my mother is handicapped, and 80 years old!), that was the last straw. This hostess has short, dark hair, and is older, around 60 or so. So miserable. The food is not good enough that I'd tolerate this treatment. \r They have a policy where they won't seat you without your entire party present. My daughter and myself went one time, and I asked to be seated before my daughter got there, they refused. (they don't have one person booths, what was the difference if they seated me before she arrived?) It's this kind of greed that starts the downhill slide in quality. I'm tempted to go, sit and order water, then just linger in the crowded dining room. \r There are so many other restaurants in the area that serve similar food at similar prices. Warehouse Cafe, Pizzaz, Carbonaras. \r I will give my money to businesses that appreciate it. more

Best Italian Restaurant I have EVER Visited 7/4/2010

Just to have a wonderful meal, or to celebrate an event, we go to Pasta Too. If there is a wait for a table, IT IS WORTH IT!! Think of it this way: if there is a wait, then people must love it there. Pros: Service, Food Quality/temperature, atmosphere more

Excellent place to eat 4/3/2010

Pasta Too, is an excellent Italian restaurant, the Prices are reasonable, and the Portions are HUGE, they will split your dinner for you if you want to share with a friend too. I have had their lasagna, grilled chicken salad, crab cakes, shrimp scampi, Raviolis, and wedding soup. out of all this the only thing i can say is i didn't enjoy the roasted red pepper in my crab cakes, but that's just my own taste. They start you off with some Italian bread and dipping sauce, which is also excellent. If you're hungry, and you want Italian, you will definitely satisfy your appetite here. Pros: quality, portion size, consistency Cons: cant think of any really. more

No website? No menu? 2/21/2009

We have a gift certificate to this place-but without a menu or a site to look at one, we're kinda on the fence about just going blind...anyone have a menu? I mean, not all of us are wanting chicken parmesan. more

Pasta Too the food of KIngs 12/9/2008

Sorry didnt mean to not mention the Pizza cook John never had his pie but I am sure if you were eating Past Too in the mid 90`s you would know the Pizza master I speak of .....Pasta Too is the food of legend nothing comes close Pros: Nothing better Cons: its 1000 miles from my house more

Delicious Chicken Parmesan 11/23/2008

I love pasta too and have been going there since i was born. I am a big fan of their chicken parmesan, the sauce is amazing and the chicken is so tender. Another bonus is the portion size, for as much as you pay you get a meal large enough to split or take home for lunch the next day. more

Rude staff - will not be returning 11/18/2008

It was my first trip to Past Too (new to the South Hills). I read the other reviews about the hostess. I will agree she was VERY rude. It was an older woman. I don't know if she owned the restaurant or not, but she didn't ask me my name or greet me, just said ""over an hour wait."" My husband isn't one to take any attitude, especially from somewhere where he will be spending money - so we left and will not be returning. As I have heard, the food there is not as good as it was in the past. I doubt I'm missing anything. Too many restaurants in the South Hills to try... more

please update times 11/10/2008

we had a party of 10 there for lunch on sunday for my sisters 50th birthday at 11:30 because web said they opened at 11. unfortunately they did not open until 1p. not good for customer service when you look on their website & make plans accordingly & then find out its the wrong time. Pros: good food Cons: wrong information more

Please get the pizza guy's name right. . . 10/26/2008

as a loyal pasta too customer, it causes me great distress that some of these reviews don't have pasta too's incredible pizza chef's name correct!!! his name is JOHN!! he is the best pizza maker in the south hills. and although all the food at pasta too is delicous, i am partial to the pizza, hoagies and calzones there. all the chefs there are great at their jobs and deserve much praise!! let's see, there's scott, kevin, scott and JOHN!! Pros: scott, kevin, scott and JOHN! and they're cute too!! Cons: long long long long wait at times more

Why would you go anywhere else???? 9/19/2008

I have to say for as long as I can remember this has been the most consistant restaurant as far as quality , quantity and holy moly have you had the sauce and soups ? Hey where is that pizza chef Sean he was great !! Ray, Scott & Scott you know what I like ! Pros: Best Food Anywhere Cons: 1000 miles from home more

Customer serive 4/18/2008

We always call for at take out to avoid the wait. I just called and got hung up on. I called back and got put on hold for a very long time. I gave the girl my order. I requested that it be picked up at a certain time, that was fine. She never asked for a name or phone number. I said "" You need more information."" She acted like I was insulting her. She was ready to hang up. My husband usually calls. He said ""Oh, they do that every time"".The food is not as good as it was, but still decent. I don't think I would wait for a table. It is great for take out food. The girl on phone was just in the wind. Pros: Decent Italian food, Cons: Service and wait time more

Nothing like it used to be. 3/29/2008

I went to Pasta Too for lunch today.... I was so upset. The newer location next to South Park was nothing like their old smaller location. Back when they were in the old location it was all about the quality of the food... Now in the bigger fancy restaurant, they seem to only worry about looking like a trendy place to eat. The Hostess was very rude, when I told her I was just a party of one, she made a rude comment and started to laugh. I should have just walked out then, but I was really looking forward to some pasta. My waitress seemed like she was trying to rush me out, and on my way.... I went for lunch, and there were only a handfull of other people in the place, so it was not like they needed the space! The food did not taste like it used to, the sauce was on the thin side, and had no real flavor. I don't think I will be returning to Pasta Too anytime soon! It is a real shame how bad the food is now. I would have walked to the old location on broken glass, but now I would not go there if it was the last place left in Pittsburgh to eat! Pros: The salad was good Cons: The service was terrible. The hostess was very rude! more

Go early (try to get there around 5) to avoid a long wait 3/25/2008

I don't know what's up with psugirl, but the red sauce at Pasta Too is the best, and I'm an Italian woman who loves her italian food. I'm very picky with tomato sauce and their's is outstanding. My husband and I go to Pasta Too ALOT because of their great service and quality food. I wish the owner would franchise this place so there is more around in the Pittsburgh area, so we can avoid the long waits. We can always count on Pasta Too for an excellent and fullfilling meal. If we want Italian we don't go anywhere else, Try their yummy breadsticks!! I think most of the waitress/waiter staff is excellent, and they are always so nice to my daughter. There are a couple waitresses that I can think of that seem to be miserable while they are there...but for the most part, I have always had excellent service. My husband and I go there at least 2 times a month! Pros: Excellent food Cons: long wait more

Just Average 3/1/2008

I am not sure what the big deal is about this restaurant. There is always a long wait and once inside, the food is not the best either. The red sauce is definitely not what I am used to and I dislike it very much. There is also an extreme amount of garlic in every meal, to the point that I have gotten sick after every meal I've had there. Unfortuantely for me, my family really enjoys this restaurant so I""m going to stick with salads from now on. (They are good.) Pros: Good prices Cons: Long wait, rude staff, average food more
