Worst Service ever 6/16/2009

Bad: I am student at Stanford while coming from a friends place I dropped at this place. I ordered samosa and snacks there and the lady (owner) was so rude. I wanted to order paani pori and she said that she wont be able to help and was showing a lot of attitude. I don't know for what. If you want to pay for pathetic service and attitude as if they are the only indian place in bay area then only go there... I cancelled my order and would never go there nor would recommend anyone. more

Passage to India Bakery 4/16/2006

Next to the Passage to India restaurant is the Passage to India Bakery. This is absolutely the best Indian bakery in the whole bay area. The Black Forest and Pineapple cakes are simply awesome. They also sell other items like puffs, cutlets, cream rolls, etc. An individual cake slice costs only around $1.50. They take orders for parties. The plum cake they sell here is one of the best. They also sell traditional Indian sweets. more

great lunch buffet 3/21/2006

Passage To India is a great spot for Indian lunch buffet, with one side of meat dishes and one side of vegetarian dishes. I always fill up on the pakoras (vegetables battered in garbanzo bean flour and deep fried) and the dal (yellow lentils) is fabulous when they have it. Try the dark brown tamarind sauce to add a lovely sweetness to any spicy dish. more

Authentic North Indian Restaurant 9/16/2005

If anybody wants to taste authentic North India food in bay area, then Passage To India is the right place to be at. Its ambiance is fantastic. Offers variety of Indian food including mithais and bakery products. Its chaat buffet on Saturday /Sunday is awesome. Though a bit expensive but its worth the price. Don't forget to visit the passage to India bakery. Its just 1-2 miles from the main restaurant. This bakery also has snack buffet for a reasonable price. more

Yummy Indian--try the buffet! 8/16/2005

Passage To India will have my undying patronage for the sake of their tomato soup alone--creamy and tangy and addictive, it's what I crave when I get a cold. Their breads are good too--try the aloo paratha, a whole wheat bread stuffed with spicy potatoes. I usually stick with their vegetarian stuff (malai kofta and bengan bertha are both out of this world) but their tandoori stuff is tasty, too. Their buffets are the best thing about them--all you can eat, reasonably priced, with all kinds of regional delicacies. Don't forget the mango soft-serve ice cream afterwards! more

They also have indo-chinese selection which is hard to find anywhere else. The Gobi-manchurian is a personal yummy. more

Great variety in buffet 8/8/2005

This is an excellent place to eat Indian buffet. My husband loves to go to this place for team lunches. The food variety is great. They serve North Indian, South Indian, Indian-chinese all in one buffet. So for people who like variety, this place is really good. The decor is pleasing. The chilli chicken is really spicey, but i like it that way. They also have soft serve ice-cream in dessert. The gajar halwa that they usually have in buffet as desert is really good too. They also run a balery a few blocks down the road and their cakes are quite famous. The price and food are comparable to other good buffet places. Worth a visit. more
