Great sandwiches but not Kid Friendly 3/19/2012

Love the sandwiches here, but here's why I don't think they are kid friendly. 1. Long Waits. 2. No or little space to sit, seating is cramped. 3. No child amenities. more

Different flavor and taste 3/3/2012

Food! Food! Food! Absolute delicious! They have different flavor of food and the same quality in it. Great place and service too. more

Best Cuban Sandwiches 12/19/2011

Love this place, great flavors and food. They don't have much space or tables. It's best to do takeout. They're almost always packed so be prepared to wait 10 minutes. more

Watch out! Yum! 11/18/2008

This place is a little hut on Fremont ave. As far as I could see, there was no signs on the building. It's just a hut and few tables. But the food there is just delicious! Cash only though and gets crowded. I got #9, it was juicy, tasty and love the garlic sauce. My friend got #8 and it looked yummy too. I would definitely make another trip out there to try this place out. Worth the gasoline! more

Yuuuummmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2/4/2007

So I just visited Paseo for my second time and man-o-man do they make a good - no GREAT - sandwich! I took a food loving friend with me and he said it was the best sandwich he's ever had. I've read the reviews here about there not being enough seating or whatever but all of that doesn't matter, the sandwich tastes great, has just the right spice, just the right amount of condiments and it is just the right amount of food. Five Stars!! more

Quite Simply the Best 11/29/2006

Paseo is currently the absolute top of my list for best sandwich in the city. The crusty bread, tender marinated pork, succulent caramelized onions and jalapenos, and crisp lettuce all combine to make a completely satisfying, non-greasy, delicious meal for a fair price. I know, I know: there's never anywhere to sit, and they only take cash. And once when I got take-out there, I ended up eating with chopsticks because they were out of forks. But we like that fusion food in Seattle, don't we? more

The Hype is worth it 6/29/2006

My first visit here last weekend on a saturday and I hav eto say, everything my friends have been saying is true. Took a while to get my 2 sandos, got a pork and a chicken, the bread was a little tough for my taste but man! what a kick ass sando! The beet salad was just so so, I think I need to get back there and try some more dishes. more

Very good pork sandwich, but 6/18/2006

make sure to ask them to go light on the aioli. The sandwich is rich in a pungent, spicy sauce along with onions grilled to perfection. They don't hold back with the mayo, so if you're not a huge mayo fan (like me), ask them to limit the aioli. They officially stop serving sandwiches at 5, although I was able to get one at 7:30. Judging from the other reviews, it looks like people have had decent success getting them through 7 at least. It seems like they serve them until they run out. There are a few plastic tables inside, although many people order to go, or eat out in front on nice days. more

New Menu Items 6/17/2006

This restaurant is perfect in my opinion. They focus on what is most important in food...THE FOOD. My guess is that if they focused on service and busing tables, every big-shot with a cell phone would be in there messing things up for the rest of us. This is one of Seattle's few locals only type places and I like it that way. Last week I discovered that Paseo has added many new items to the menu. I had a fish sandwich which is identical to the prawn sandwich, only less messy. Unfortunately, I didn't write down all of the new items but you can trust me, head on in and try some of their new fare. I can guarantee it's ALL yummy! To think I walked past this place for three years thinking it was a teriyaki joint. more

Something really good for the vegetarians too 6/12/2006

The meat is clearly the specialty here, but this smart little restaurant has done something fantastic for the vegetarians: they've created a tofu version of their messy, saucy, delicious sandwich that doesn't hold back on all of the other elements... plenty of grilled peppers, onions, cilantro, spices and greasy (in a delicious way) sauce and slices of tasty tofu on a fresh warm baguette type bread. It is probably my favorite tofu sandwich in the city, but one that I eat somewhat rarely because it drips so freely in flavorful fats that I tend to leave paseo 95% satisfied, 5% preoccupied with finding myself some spinach. The restaurant is small, and popular which lends to long waiting times and difficulty snagging one of the greasy plastic tables. It's not really the sort of place that you'd go to with the intent of spending the evening at your table and lingering over a slow dinner because it is so small and chaotic feeling inside. But the food is delicious, and supplies exactly the sort of vegetarian indulgence that I dream of stumbling upon in a restaurant known for it's amazing meat. more

Pork Paradise at Paseo 5/11/2006

Here ye, here ye: Oh man. Talk about a sandwich. I don’t even care that it comes with mayonnaise and jalapeños, which I generally avoid. I don’t even think I would care if it came slathered in sauerkraut, salmonella and self-hate. The pork is THAT good. Throw in toasty baguette-ish bread and a side of buttery corn on the cob and you’ve got a Cuban sandwich for the ages. Or at least for a really satisfying lunch. Generally pretty crowded and there’s limited in house seating, so be prepared to order to go. Walk down to the cut. Eat in your car. Do whatever you have to do. more

Don't pass on Paseo 2/27/2006

Paseo makes me drool. Delicious toasted bread with a heavenly piece of perfectly grilled and seasoned pork in between and a mayo spread to top it off. Mmm... tasty. OK, so I should admit I haven't really tried any other dishes outside the grilled pork sandwich. I go in with the best intentions; "Today is a pulled pork day" I will decide. But once I'm at the counter, I can't forget how amazing the grilled pork is, and away my best laid plans fall. Such an amazing sandwich. Probably one of my top five favorite sandwiches of all time--and that's a tough list to make considering how many sandwiches are out there. Points off for being difficult to eat (I can't keep the meat-to-bread ratio consistent as I'm eating) and for the corn being less buttery and delicious than it could be. As far as dining experience, I recommend ordering to go; the establishment is small and the furniture not the most comfortable to sit in. But if you're wolfing down the food in a few glorious gulps like I am, I guess comfort isn't the biggest factor. more

Best marinated grilled chicken on the planet. 2/6/2006

Excellent sandwiches. Chicken dinner has the best marinated grilled chicken on the planet. Perfectly charred with a sweet, tangy, spicy marinade. Dunk your rice in the delicous beans. The salad could be chopped a little finer but you feel like you're eating healthy cuz it has beets in it. Tofu dinners are good for the veggie lover in you (Pretty spicy though, go easy on the number of stars). more

GPS or GCS, doesn't matter. 12/15/2005

I've always been told you should only go here for lunch time, although I'm sure they have good dinner. I don't believe you can order any of their sandwiches if it's after a certain time. The reason to go there is for the Grilled Pork or Grilled Chicken sandwich. I don't know how they prepare the meat, and I don't care. Actually, I think the pork and chicken taste the exact same, but it's so good I could care a less. They also throw some onions sauteed in some caribbean sauce with cilantro and lettuce. It's honestly the best sandwich you can get in Seattle. I think they have been voted top 30 restaurants in Washington and Oregon by some magazine. Call ahead because they make your sandwich from scratch and it can take 15 minutes. Not a big place, generally take your food to go. more

The best pork in Seattle, hands down 10/6/2005

It does not get any better than the Midnight Cuban Sandwich at Paseo. Possible the single best serving of food in Seattle. I have no idea what they marinate the pork in, but is the most tender that I've ever had. The hard rools are fantastic and the corn on the cob tastes like it's been marinated in butter.....ok, I'm leaving to go get one right now. more

Best Cuban Food This Side of Miami 9/2/2005

Sandwiches that are so good your friends will cry out loud! WOW! Dinners that touch all the bases. This place is excellent! I have followed the owner through three renditions of this restaurant over the course of maybe twenty years, in three locations. I am still not tired of his great marinades and recipes. Black beans and rice, Cuban sandwiches, chicken, pork, fish and prawn, sauces to die for; these are some of the delights you have in store here at Paseo! If you are a vegetarian they have an excellent tofu in red sauce that can be jacked up with Habenaro sauce... Killer! Lorenzo Lorenzo is the chef, he knows what he is doing. more
