Bridal Party For A Holthaus/Bamonte Wedding 10/21/2012

For the record I have been going to the Parlor for years for Hair and an occasional massage. We came to Parlor on the Avenue on Friday Morning. All told our party had about 25 people. We made different appointments, however everyone was able to share their services r/t proximity of the massage chairs. We had a beautiful room with plenty of seating and a kitchen! All of the women on both sides of the family were able to not only get great mani-pedi's but, relax with our own snacks and drinks. We even went next door to the Coffee Peddler and brought it back. What a wonderful way to get our Wedding weekend started. If you are wondering where to go for your treatments, I highly suggest Parlor on The Avenue for your Bridal Party pampering. Parlor on the Avenue's staff are extremely accommodating and warm. -Gina more

Thank you for your response to my 8/26/12 comment. There were several details left out in your response: (Your #1) - I was not fully aware of the details of the "Models Program" until I had to come back the second time for my hair to be fixed. Trust me, had I known it would take 2 trips and 7 hours for a partial hilight, I would not have participated in this "great success" of a program. Furthermore, had I known that my stylist passed her boards only 2 days prior to my initial visit (no offense to her), or that I had to sign a waiver, I wouldn't have participated in this program either. Having said that, in general, I regret using someone other than my usuals (Heather or Monica if anyone is looking), who both do exceptional work. In your response, you said "of course we would fix it." This was after you said you'd charge me for coming back and told me that I "was the first model to ever complain." I'm not sure how the $140 of services was calculated, but I'm sorry your business lost money due to me not knowing the fact that since I paid less, it was OK for my hair to look unacceptable. I spent $70 between both days: $50 in services, $20 in tips. I wish I could post a picture of how my hair looked after the first day to assure you that the quality wasn't even worth the "at cost" price that you mentioned. (Your #3) - After being there from 5:30pm to 8:30pm for a partial hilight and no cut on the first night, no I could not stay any longer. Yes, you had me back Saturday morning and I thanked everyone for getting me back in so soon. (Your #4) - No, I wasn't happy, but I certainly wasn't irate. Again, I tipped well for both days when most people would have left nothing. I NEVER cursed AT you... I used a curse word to describe what my hair looked like, big difference. The stylist knew the color was not right and was extremely sweet and apologetic that I had to come back in. Again, my complaint was how I was made to feel for having to come back in per my phone conversation with you. Everyone but yourself was extremely kind and understanding of the situation. Thank you for apologizing for the "misunderstandings." RESPONSE FROM Parlour on the Avenue: As I said before I am sorry you took offense, that was not my intention. more

Missy has been cutting my hair for five years now, and I have never had a bad experience. She helps me with styling techniques and does a wonderful job coloring my hair, as well. I have even brought my three daughters in on occasion for haircuts, and she is very patient and professional. more

I have been a customer for years and have never had a complaint until I recently dealt with the owner. I had an issue where I needed to come back due to my hair color not taking, resulting in a very brassy 1/2 of my head. My stylist and everyone else was very understanding of this, and apologized many times, as they saw that the color was not right. The owner however, later called me and before even asking what the problem was (I could have had blue hair for all she knew...) she started talking to me about what it costs them, etc. Very rude and unprofessional. I had to wear my brassy hair to work and a party the next day, and people were amazed that I was allowed to walk out of the salon like that. Again, the stylist was extremely happy to fix the problem 2 days later, but the owner tried to make me feel terrible for complaining and returning to fix my hair! Upon talking to others who have gone to the Parlour, I learned of two more people who have had problems with the owner's unprofessionalism and attitude. I have also heard a couple complaints from employees there. Very sad considering all of the stylists I've dealt with have been great! RESPONSE FROM Parlour on the Avenue: I'm sorry you viewed me as "unprofessional" but there were a few details you left out: 1. You contacted us to partake in the "Models Program", this is where we allow anyone to get services at cost in exchange for allowing us to practice new colors and color lines, techniques and train new employees to our standards. We only ask the models to pay the COST of these services. We actually lose money on these services, but feel they are necessary to maintain quality control. We have great success with this program since its inception 4 years ago. This was our first snag, I was merely trying to explain this to you. This is why you got $140 worth of services for only $40. Pointing this out to you was not intended to make you feel bad or harp on money, but explain to you that this is a risk of being in the models program and that of course we would fix it. 2. The first thing I asked you was about your hair and what you were unhappy with. Remember, I thought you were talking about the highlights being brassy and you said you liked the hilights, they were not the problem. 3. The technicians tried to get you to stay that night and fix it to your satisfaction, but you would not stay. You wanted to come back Saturday morning so we made that happen. 4. Yes, I don't doubt you have found a few people unhappy with me, but if you look at the other reviews I think you will find about a 95 satisfaction rate. Everyone knows it is impossible to make all the people happy all the time. That is what I was trying to do when I called you. My girls said you were visibly angry and slammed the door, my attempts to calm you only made you madder and you were cursing at me. 5. Yes, I do have some very exceptional stylist working for me and we work hard to train and instill great customer relations. We really get excited when clients are happy, I'm glad you were happy with the end result. Sorry about any misunderstandings. more

Great experience with Jessica in the Harrison salon 8/23/2012

I have had wraps, massages, and facials with Jessica in the Harrison location, and every appointment has been wonderful. She takes the time to answer any questions I may have and to explain the process for each new procedure. Jessica is also knowledgeable about other services and after answering my questions about them I booked more appointments for new services with her. She is very personable and I enjoy talking with her and seeing her on each visit. I look forward to my next appointment with her. She is an asset to your spa. more

Awesome experience! 8/17/2012

My boyfriend got me a gift certificate to The Parlour a while ago, and I thought it would be perfect to use it before school started back up... The building is gorgeous and the staff is very friendly. It's a relaxing and friendly atmosphere. I went to Andrea for my color and haircut and she did an awesome job---love it! Thanks to Andrea, I'll be going back to school looking cool :) I'll definitely be back! I can't wait to try other things!!! more

I had a wonderful time at the Parlour on the Avenue! Everyone is always focused on making sure you have the best experience possible! Andrea took care of me most recently. My hair looks awesome! I love my color, it turned out even better than I had imagined! Plus the facility itself is beautiful! I love the warmer feeling you get here than at most salons that feel too stark. Overall I'm glad I went and I'll definitely be heading back! more

The effects last a long time! 3/24/2012

I was last in for a relax, refresh & recharge package in early February. I chose to have a parfango body wrap, dead sea salt scrub, soothing botanical facial and a sweedish massage. It is now the end of March and my new boyfriend asked me yesterday how I kept my skin so soft. It is all due to the services I received 2 months ago! He told me to keep doing it. Thank you for such a wonderful service! The ladies have always treated me well each time I have been in. I will definitely be returning soon. more

Fantastic spa and EXCELLENT SERVICE 3/22/2012

Went to the Aurora location and Summer did all 4 Of my services. She was so friendly and very accommodating. You can tell she loves her job and she is excellent at it. I am big on customer service and she had that as well. I will be back. LOVED IT! more

The location is very convenient to where I live. The massage therapist was very nice. The facility is very nice. I had the hot stone massage and it was good, but she did not use the stones as much; and in as many places, as massages that I have had previously in another city, where I used to live. more
