It was my first time at Parlor (co-worker of mine recommended Tina) and I just had to write a few words about my stylist Tina. A long story short, I got my color & cut done, brought in pictures and Tina listened and advised with her expertise. I got exactly what I asked for, plus her creative touch as a little extra. Tina is a stylist that listens to you very well and is very concerned about your comfort level and how u feel about your new head of hair. As I left she told me the door @ Parlor is always open if I had any questions (about my new hair) and to call her anytime. So a couple days passed and I had a change a mind about my hair color, I called and Tina saw me again, we redid my hair color and now its the absolute Best Hair I had my whole life. WHAT I'm trying to bring across is that I felt very well taken care off, even after my change of mind, treated with courtesy and professionalism. I really appreciated Tina taking time to see me again and make me even more beautiful. I will be a client @ Parlor for ever now. She has a very positive sweet attitude about her. Thank you again. Parlor 11/20/2006

Another fantastic job on my highlights by Tina. I have been going to her for a year and have always been extememly satisfied. Not only does Tina do a great job with the color, she also gives me the best haircut I have had in years. She does exactly what I want and if I ask for her advice she is honest and helpful. I trust that I will walk out of Parlor looking the best I can. I can't imagine going to anyone else and I highly reccommend that you give her a chance to make your hair look fabulous. Good service, no attitude 11/16/2006

I've been going to Parlor off and on now for 4 years. Its definitely a trip downtown for me to get there but I do like the friendly staff, no-attitude vibe of the place. Leah is doing my color these days and has thankfully eliminated past color job problems (done by other hairstylists who were friends of friends). Bettina cut my hair and this is the first time I've had her and i LOVE IT! She really took the time to get my hair into the shape I wanted and also provided her opinion and together it came out exactly what I wanted. Also the Aveda hair potion she recommended is FABULOUS for giving lift to my fine hair. Pros: clean, small space. friendly staff - definitely a neighborhood feel Cons: can't think of any more

Awesome Cut from Tina 11/10/2006

I just received the best cut from Tina. I would highly recommend her. She takes care to give you the best cut possible and pays attention to detail. The cut she gave me was the best I've had in years and will definitely be going back to her. She was very sweet and explained to me exactly what she would do and then did it. No funky surprises or chunks of hair flying off. I wanted to keep my length and she managed to leave it, while really giving me a new 'do and totally reshaping my hair and giving it a great style. The salon is really nice and relaxing and they offer a nice glass of wine to enjoy while you have your service done. The cut was so nice that 2 people asked me where I get my hair done on the way home. I can't wait to go back. Pros: Great prices, relaxing atmosphere, great cuts more

I was pretty amazed, at a newcomer stylist by the name of Tina. Not only did she give me a nice Chic cut but got the coloring just right for me! To boot, I got a nice massage while my hair was being dyed! more

AWSOME COLOR CORRECTION 10/28/2006

Thankfully out amongst all the many salons in my neighborhood there is Parlor! I had taken my Single process into my own hands to save a few bucks!(Take it from me! Don't do this unless you know exactly what you are doing!)Thankfully when I called frantic, embarrassed, and desperate I was booked with Hayden for a color correction. I had seen Leah a wonderful colorist there before, but it was her day off and I couldn't bare to wait. Well now I know Parlor just has a great staff! Because Hayden was meticulous, efficient and didn't take advantage of my dilemma! He fixed it and I am once again a happy redhead:) I am so thankful to be close to a great salon that does fabulous work, with out the I am so fabulous attitude!Thank you Parlor!! more

2 hrs at Parlor feel like a day in a Spa that keeps on glowing on you. 10/22/2006

This highly talented stylist Tina gave me the Best Salon exp. I ever had in NYC, from my great head a high lites to my new cut. (My visit at Parlor was just about me, Tina spoiled me from face mask to hand treatment, and educated me about my hair and skin/ make up) I really never exp. such a positive salon exp. I received exceptional good service from Tina she is very sweet and talented. I want the city to know about Parlor and Tina because we all need this couple a hours that make us glow again. more

Vastly overrated 10/20/2006

Perhaps I was expecting too much of Parlor after reading the gushing Citysearch reviews. I certainly was not expecting a triple-booked colorist who simply decided to glaze over my highlights and lowlights. The stylist, despite her credentails, appeared to be incapable of assessing the texture of my hair and lacked the proper tools to style it (i.e. a round natural-bristle brush and straightener with multiple heat settings). Her recommendations were inappropriate and lack of vision readily apparent. Although I admit, it must take some kind of talent to mangle a blunt cut. Expect nothing less than discourteous behavior from the receptionist, and prepare to have a front row view of the storeroom with its haphazard array of color bottles as you are shampooed. Needless to say, this is the first time I have recieved more compliments on my hair walking into a salon than walking out. I will not be returning. more

Every Day is a Good Hair Day Now... 10/9/2006

It is pretty amazing what a good hair cut can do to your confidence. I just went for the first time to Parlor and saw Tina she gave me without any question the best haircut I ever had, my hair looked great when I left the salon but more important I can style my hair myself and look like I just came from a salon. I really enjoyed how my stylist Tina payed attention to ME, from the consultation to the finish style/ product advice Tina had it all covered. Now I walk the streets of New York with a great head a hair and it really reflects ME. Thank you so much Tina, I really love my hair, Marie. Pros: A good hair day every day with my cut from Tina. The hairstylist hacked my hair which I've been trying to grow it out for 2 years. She cut off the right corner of my hair in the front. A waste of time, money and hair! It is discouraging to put my hair in a stranger's hands and pay such a big price. Then again it is just my vanity that is hurt by this mistake. Cons: incompetence more

She is a mathematical genius who looks at your head and sees more than hair, she sees an opportunity to think outside the box. Just look at her, and you'll see this woman knows style. I won't let anyone else touch my hair. more

Great atmosphere to be taken care of 8/5/2006

I've had my hair cut and colored here a couple times by Tina and I've always walked out feeling great about my hair and the experience. The atmosphere is very friendly - I always feel welcome. Tina is great at doing what you want and she always offers inventive suggestions that make you look your best...she really cares about how you feel with your new hair. I also love the Aveda products - I love the way my hair smells when I get out of here. Instead of terrble and overpowering perfume smells the Aveda products all smell like amazing natural plants or flowers. They are all very clean smelling. This place is great. Tina is great. Pros: Natural products help keep hair healthy more

I just got my haircut by Katja a few weeks ago..Although she is still a stylist in training she worked like a pro. I can finally deal with the large amount of hair on my head thanks to her. You must get your haircut by her on Sundays..it's only $30.00, can you belive it!! Pros: clean, calming atmosphere more

They do great hair! 7/21/2006

I have been going to Parlor for almost 2 years and I have never been disappointed with their work. The one negative thing is that they often run late, and I would appreciate getting a call so I don't sit there for 45 minutes waiting. But my stylist, Sarah, is fantastic and I would definitely recommend her. Everybody else I know who goes there feel the same way! Pros: Price, skill Cons: location, tardiness more

I had the pleasure of meeting Tina through a referral from a colleague at work. At first it was difficult to get the contact number but after some persistance I had the luck of getting an appointment and meeting Tina. After my first encounter with Tina, I knew that I had found my new hair stylist and hair dresser. She takes her time and ensures that I am 110% at the end of each of our sessions.She also recommends hair products that help in maintaining my hair and aids in achieving the look / style I want. I appreciate her time in ensuring that I as the customer get what I want. Tina has a rising expertise, and her efforts, commitment and obvious passion to bringing about creativity, and making women feel good about themselves, and fantastic with their brand new dos are very noticeable to the discerning clientele. I feel lucky to have met her. more

Tina is a Treasure in a an endless sea of choices... 7/3/2006

I found Tina originally on Craigslist while she was working at another Soho Salon as an apprentice. I lucked out to be her ""guinea pig"" model for a few special hours of my day. And I had no idea that after almost 20 years in NYC I would find the ideal, creative, passionate hair designer, one who put her heart and soul into every last bit of effort she expended. Her complete desire to satisfy her client and to help you have a head of hair and a total look that has nothing to do with trends and everything to do with you, is most gratifying. I followed her to her new job where they not only gave her much more respect for her great work ethic but in a very short time promoted her to a full time stylist because they recognized her brilliance. I recommend her unequivocally if you want someone who will pay attention to who you are, what you want, and if you are like me and don't exactly know how to articulate that, she has the skills, insight and inner language to help you look and feel beautiful! more

I love Parlor! Everyone was extremely nice and accommodating. A great low key vibe, no sales pressure and an amazing, expert, long overdue haircut from the stupendous and fantabulous Rachel. We were on the same page right from the beginning, and I got exactly what I had pictured in my head. She knew what was right for my type of hair, listened to what I wanted, and made it happen.
