Great doctor who takes time to explain things 10/24/2005

It seems lots of doctors are so busy these days that you leave the office not understanding what is wrong or how to get it fixed. Parker will take all the time you need to explain x-rays, treatments, he is very gentle with exams, and conservative in his treatment. I had a TMJ injury and was so tired of it that I was ready to have surgery, without really understanding how serious a surgery I was asking for. He calmly explained to me some alternatives, such as physical therapy, a splint, some anti-inflammatories, etc. By the end of that, I still needed a surgery, but a much much small one. I have been told that other doctors would not have been so patient with the matter and pressured me into a big surgery = which I learned from one of the physical therapists meant cutting all the way around the face to get to the joint. The surgery I had was minor and he did such a good job cutting I can't even see the scar. The next day it wasn't even swollen - the physical therapists were amazed. Kind and caring, and their are good magazines in the lobby. more

great place to lose your wisdom teeth 6/16/2005

I went into this office not knowing if I even needed to get my wisdom teeth out and, frankly, nervous about the whole thing. I'd never had surgery of any kind before, never been under anesthesia. Dr. Parker educated me as to why I'd have my teeth out and soothed my fears. He had this calm manner that put me immediately at ease. The surgery itself went smoothly. I only had 3 teeth to remove and he got them all with no fishing around in the space where the 4th tooth would have been had it existed. I woke up as if no time had passed, took my post-surgery care instructions sheet, then spent the rest of the week watching movies on the couch and eating soup. I came in for a follow up visit because one of the teeth holes was being difficult (dry socket) and the other doctor in the office put in a cure that was worse than the problem. This stuff he put in my mouth tasted so horrible! But he took it right out when I didn't like it and gave me more pain killers instead. All in all, it worked out just fine. more
