Still works after all these years 8/17/2006

The Parish Cafe has been around for a long time. It's not easy to keep delivering good food and good service year after year, but they've done it. The food is interesting, satisfying and reasonably priced. The environment is fun. The staff cares about whether their customers are satisfied. As noted, the menu is primarily interesting sandwiches, though most diners should be able to find something that appeals. more

So You Want a Sandwich 4/15/2006

This place is widely known for the humble sandwich. However, the sandwiches here are anything but humble. Using obviously extensive connections, this restaurant has managed to assemble a menu of sandwiches each designed by a different chef in Boston. Any chef who's somebody has a sandwich here. They also have a bar area. It's a little cramped, but it's good place to catch up after work for a few drinks. more

Best Sandwich ever! 1/13/2006

Parish Cafe features sandwiches from the minds of Boston's celebrity chefs. This is a bit gimmicky, but the Tuna steak sandwich thought up by chef Ming Tsai (of Blue Ginger) was the best sandwich I ever had. At a fraction of the cost of a meal at the actual Blue Ginger, this culinary delight was awesome. Service at the Parish Cafe is somewhat lacking. Perhaps the servers are too distracted by the bustling Boylston street (where their patio is) to pay attention to their customers. Such is a small price to pay for such a good sandwich though :) more

Can't decide what to get for lunch 12/16/2005

the Parish Cafe has a sandwich for everyone- its menu is designed by some of Boston's best chefs, each donating a signature sandwich recipe. From a portabella sandwich from Upstairs at the Pudding to a seared tuna from Ming Tsi at the Blue Ginger, there is something for everyone. You can find me firmly planted at the end of the bar with a business lunch 1-2 times per week because it has such a wide appeal. The staff is also a friendly, tight knit crew that gets your lunch out with a smile. more

Abundance of beer varieties, great martini's, relaxed environment 10/8/2005

Abundance of beer varieties, great martini's, relaxed environment This is my favorite place to relax and people watch in the warm weather while sipping a nice cold beer and enjoying a tasty sandwich. The servers are sometimes slow so be patient and dont come when time pressed. Their themed sandwiches, designed by famous chefs, are very good. Decent portions. They have a wide assortment of beers so you are sure to be drinking your favorite here. Ive had my best cole slaw here. Highly recommended. more

Great sandwiches, nice outdoor seating 8/3/2005

The Parish Cafe is a great spot for lunch. Half of the menu consists of different sandwiches developed by different chefs from all over Boston. Good beer menu and a nice outdoor space on Boylston Street for outdoor dining. Kid friendly too, so you can bring the entire family. more

Boston's Best Sandwiches 2/20/2005

Without a doubt, the Parish Cafe is the best place to go in Boston for a sandwich. Chefs from the best restaurants (le Espalier, Olives, etc) have each contributed one sandwich recipe. The sandwich options range from the ordinary to the extraordinary, and are always incredibly good. The Parish is also a great place to grab an afterwork beer. It doesn't get the happy hour crowd (a good thing), and generally attracts a solid, relaxed clientele. Definitely a great place all around. more
