I LOVE my "green" invitations! 1/17/2009

I got my AWESOME wedding invites here. I did go in on a Saturday & had to wait, but it was worth it. My wedding is "green" so I wanted some handmade papers. I found them & brought in my ideas & got the help I needed. I've had so many comments on my unique invites...I will definitely go back, but during the week! Pros: Creative sales people, variety Cons: Busy on Saturday more

Terrible Place - Owners treat customers bad - condescending, rude. 1/14/2009

I refuse to give this business any more of my money. OWNER IS RUDE and condescending. After I placed a large (expensive) order, the owner proceeded to give me misinformation and attempted to milk me for more money. She (Sarah) was so rude and condescending that the poor staff person couldn't even make eye contact with me while witnessing the behavior. She seemed embarrassed by her boss. Paper Place stays in business for 2 reasons: (1) Location (thank Central Market) and (2) excellent inventory. The way they treat customers is ALARMING. Pros: Variety, Selection Cons: Customer Service, Rude Owners more

Arrogant and Condescending Staff but Good Selection 9/9/2008

I signed up with CitySearch specifically to review The Paper Place. I am so disappointed in this store & it's SUCH a shame that they have such arrogant & condescending staff who are curt & outright unhelpful becuase they do have a fairly wide selection of stationary products which I've been unable to find elsewhere locally. I'm now convinced, after several interactions in person & over the phone that it's simply their ability to provide product NOT their ability to provide any sort of customer service that is keeping them in business! The first time I went in was several months ago to purchase nearly a hundred dollars of loose Crane & Co. stationary while 'taking in' what they had to offer - regarding products & service for a near future order (that will NOT be placed with them) & I was "helped" after being ignored for nearly 30 minutes by a young woman who gave the very obvious impression that I was beneath her & it was almost painful for her to have to "help" me. Today however, I needed to find envelopes to fit custom invitations, so I called to inquire about their available sizes, colors, & prices and I was shocked with the degree of disdain for having to "help" a customer with such basic questions that comes across even on the phone. I was treated as if I was bothering them & asking questions that were a hassle for THEM to answer. This is not how I expect to be treated when I am spending MY money in their store. I wouldn't have called & "bothered" them if they had an operational website that provided information online such as the inventory available. By the lack of any other way to obtain this information I was forced to call & thus, do not expect the rude, discourteous treatment I received. The Paper Place does have a good selection of product but know that you'll be treated by staff who'll likely treat you as though they're vastly superior to you that's after you've been ignored awhile & if you ask questions expect curt responses with an arrogant attitude. Pros: Variety, Higher Quality Stationary Products, Can Purchase Open Stock Cons: Awful Customer Service, Arrogant and Rude Staff, Hard Parking, Busy Location to Drive to During Peak Traffic more

The Paper Place is a great source for scrapbooking and invitational needs. 8/22/2008

I've been to the Paper Place a couple of times and found their selection great. They have stock that comes from The Paper-Source so I was able to match paper I had found when I lived in Boston. They also have Crane & Co. papers, too! Service was fine in person and over the phone. They do recognize that they should already have a website and that is why I demoted a star. Their inventory should be available online we're in 2008, ya know? Pros: beautiful colors of paper available, prices are competitive Cons: no online access to stock more

Love it 8/1/2008

I drool when I go in here. I love paper things! Staff is friendly and not too annoying. I love this store! more

helpful with invitations 1/22/2008

They have many invitation designer books to choose from. There was a lady who helped me from step one with my invitations, from design choices, to wording, ordering and getting them in on time. I always find really sweet gifts and fun seasonal items. more

Great Place!! 3/23/2007

I love shopping at the Paper Place, they always have great gifts. Paper Place has a great selction of quality papers and pens. The staff is very friendly and they greet you as you come in. I like that. I have never had a problem having my questions answered. I love to place custom orders, because the girls always have great ideas. I just finished another order there last week and I high recommend Paper Place. Keep up the good work! more

terrible customer service 3/6/2007

When I went to the Paper Place about a year ago to brainstorm about my wedding invitations and save the dates, my mother and I found absolutely no help. We were actually asked to move out of the way while another bride was being helped. We were willing to pay thousands and were only interested in custom designs--perfect customers, we thought! We ended up going with another stationary shop and found ourselves so pleased with their service. Last week, I went to the Paper Place for a shower I am hosting and found that nothing had changed. The young saleswoman was pointedly unhelpful, and could not be bothered with any of my questions. It got to the point where she was actually rude to my face. Again, I was willing to pay hundreds of dollars and found myself abhorred at what they call service at this shop. Perhaps there are certain employees who are helpful and wonderful, but so far, I haven't seen any of them. Could be a management problem. If you are looking for someone with helpful ideas, and even the slightest ability to communicate, do not go here. Pros: good selection Cons: absolutely terrible customer service more

An Austin Gem! 6/14/2006

I can't even begin to describe the incredible experience I have had at The Paper Place. I've placed several custom orders from them - from my change of address to ALL of my wedding stationery and they have consistently been absolutely amazing. Everyone there was patient, helpful and always, always went out of their way to cater to my wants. More so than the excellent customer service is the creativity that is offered at The Paper Place. I told the staff there what I wanted, how I wanted it to look and they made my vision a reality. Of all my experiences working with my wedding vendors, The Paper Place remains my most favorite one. They are the GREATEST!!! Pros: Excellent and creative staff, can make almost any vision a reality, endless possibilities more

Good recovery! 5/10/2006

First visit to Paper Place for custom order was not great. Salesgirl wrote order poorly and wasn't very communicative. Visit 2 was disappointing - the aforementioned order was so indecipherable that others had trouble identifying product line. Eventually decided it was one they no longer carried. Customer service should have kicked in with offers to guide me through recreating something that would be similar, but that wasn't to be. Gave shop one more try, things started to look up. Worked with different sales girl than previously. Found an even better set up than original. Our proof was ready in no time. Diana (?) was immensely patient/helpful through several more proofs, and helped us come up with the perfect invitation. They were ready a couple of days later, and were fantastic. I would go back for more custom work, and would recommend the Paper Place to my friends. Pros: In-house printing, Some exclnt staff Cons: some notsogood staff more

If you don't like your job, GET A NEW ONE! 11/30/2005

I have tried to obtain information for services and products three times over the phone and I have had no luck, whatsoever! Seeing as driving to this location and parking can be difficult, informative help over the phone would increase sales. I am incredibly disappointed at the smug little girl who wanted to answer absolutely zero questions while I was trying to place a large custom order. Lost OUR business- all current AND future! and btw/ there are many other places to go Pros: Couldn't get that far Cons: Variety, Price, Lack of Help more

Great selection 11/16/2005

Lots of different papers, stationery, gifts, stamps, writing utensils, etc. Custom invitations and stationery are available too, along with bulk papers. Definitely worth a stop when you're shopping at Central Market. more

Disappointed! 10/1/2005

I loved shopping at Paper Place for gifts and pre-printed stationary, but when it came time to placing a custom order-- I had a difficult time getting advice and creative suggestions. After investing 2 visits more than an hour talking to their staff, I decided to move on! Pros: Location, Nice gifts Cons: Lack of creativity more
