Beautiful, unique fine jewelry, but expensive 8/16/2005

This jewelry store has many unique, stunning fine jewelry pieces. The price of the jewelry is quite high however, so I am mainly a window shopper there. If you can afford their jewelry and want something unique, I would definitely check out the jewelry at Soho Gem. The shop is quite small, but they do have a selection to choose from. more

Editorial

  • It's surprising that this Soho charmer hasn't received more attention in the food world--what with its breezy West Broadway location, chic, artful decor and thoughtful Italian menu--but that doesn't mean it's not notable. Young professional types convene at the bar after work for cocktails and appetizers; by 9pm, most tables are occupied by cooing couples and groups of well-heeled girls celebrating this one's birthday or that one's engagement. When it comes to the food, everything is plated with care. Traditional apps like mozzarella di bufala (served with tomatoes and basil vinaigrette) are complemented by more inventive offerings like sliced smoked tuna on a bed of smashed potatoes. Standout pastas include a homemade papardelle with veal Bolognese and a seafood pasta that is filling but not heavy. Meat and fish entrees (branzino, rack of lamb, filet mignon, etc.) are equally well-executed. Be sure to save room for a piece of molten chocolate lava cake--it will make you believe in God.
