Pampas Room

The hostess sat us at one of the most prominent tables in the bar, right next to the dance floor. We were sat quickly, however, our waiter never came by our table! A nearby waiter tried to help us out by taking our drink order. Their Spanish Coffees were rather expensive at $12, but VERY good. We would have had several rounds if anyone would have come by to ask us. After waiting for 45 minutes for someone to say anything to us, we were on the verge of walking out on our bill when another server came by. We paid and left. If you're like me and love to snuggle with your sweetie while enjoying the live music, then this club/lounge is on the top of the list! You can get cozy on the side cushion benches, enjoy the jazz performance from the smaller tables closer to the stage, or dance on the small dancefloor (all surrounded by dim candle light). There is a large bar, but it veers away from the seated section so the bar-goers won't distract the jazz vibe. The staff was pleasent in seating us and serving. Unfortunetly everything on the menu seemed to have a bad price/quality ratio. Most of the mixed bar drinks I had were average with a classy price (but the vanilla truffle martini was unique & tasty). But the great ambience makes up for those flaws. Jazz, dancing (slow & fast), and the extreme romance ambience makes the Pampas Room a classy favorite. Whenever I feel the need to dress up classy and toke on a cigarette in a long ebony holder encrusted in zirconia under a floppy hat with a flower on it, I go here! The jazz band is thoroughly enjoyable, with a wonderful singer and frontman. John, the brains of the operation, is pleasant and remembers his devotees. The drinks are impeccable, though the service does not compare to that of the dining area above. What a great hang out. I went there with 10 friends and was seated almost immediately on a Friday night (around 10pm). They had reserved the rows of tables in front of the stage for large parties. The drinks were outstanding and the service was very good for how many people were there. The live Jazz was to die for, excellent performers. AS A PASSIONATE LOVER OF GREAT MUSIC, AFTER TRAVELING ALL OVER THE USA, I HAVE TO SAY THAT THE PAMPAS ROOM IS TOPS! THE GREAT MUSIC OF THE 30'S AND 40'S IS THANKFULLY AND BEAUTIFULLY RENDERED BY GENTLEMEN THAT WERE THERE. BILLY WALLACE, PIANO, FLOYD STANDIFER, SAX & TRUMPET AND BOB MATTHEWS, BASS, LIVED AND PLAYED IN THAT GREAT ERA OF AMERICAN MUSIC WITH THE BIG NAMES OF THAT TIME. BB WHITE'S VOCALS ARE PURE ROMANCE. I HAVE FOUND NOTHING LIKE IT, ANYWHERE. YOU'LL FEEL LIKE YOU'RE IN AN OLD MOVIE. SUCH AMBIANCE!!! I still remember coming here 4-5 years ago when they first opened - me & my girlfriends all LOVED it! Although it was nicer with a lot less people fighting for available standing space, I'm glad to see they are doing well & seem to be delivering the same quality of music, food & service as before. Keep it up guys - we'll come visit you again soon! more
